I'm getting interested in this Pete guy. Had no idea who he was until this past week but I like his attitude and poise so far.
Fuckin love him, watch his breakfast club interview
When the other guests get a bit extreme he just lifts his eyebrows. He is not into stoking drama.
He's surprisingly a legitimate candidate. His town hall was very convincing
Level headed and focusing on realistic topics. He'd be a decent president like Obama. But he would need an emotional sidekick like Bernie Sanders.
Yes, he is very inspiring. You have to watch his SXSW Town Hall.
Pete Buttigieg is what Beto should have been. LOVE this guy! He's got my vote!
Listening to Pete is like listening to Obama. He talks in a straight line and when he's finished, you feel like you've learned something. As opposed to trump (self-aggrandizing bully) who just makes you feel dirty.
@@pardunmeesuh5612 But Obama was a conservative republican so fuck him and fuck Pete.
A mayor?
@Vasilijan Nikolovski
Look at his Fox News Sunday interview, & you can see his fiscal and hard numbers record.
Oh myyy I couldn't have said it better myself 😄
As a non-American who follows American politics very closely, to me Pete Buttigieg is a standout candidate who could well turn out to be the dark horse in 2020.
Not so dark anymore, he's just raised $7 million. Still early days, but he's a top contender.
I like him but i've got reservations about his ability to win. #1 he's gay and that's a big no no to many Americans. #2 he's only 37 we tend to like our presidents nice and wrinkly. and #3 he's only a mayor. people will hit him for only governing a city and not a state or congress. Not like trump had any relevant experience though.
@@poconofriend777 it's not like Obama had any experience running anything either. You shouldn't have to be a professional bullshiter to be the president of the United States. That is basically what a politician is a professional bullshiter. They are going to make promises they have no intentions on keeping or that they give up very easily with little conviction.
What did the 2016 election look like outside the country to people like yourself? I was certainly caught off guard and many of the people I know were as well. (this is a serious question btw, not snarky sarcasm). I personally really enjoy getting news from the BBC and Australian outlets for a different perspective.
Pete is a deep state “intelligence” officer with a couple of racism scandals going on right now. He’s a Zionist and is only interested in protecting the status quo. He gets all of his money from the rich and that’s who he’ll serve. He has no actual support. Notice the bots in the comment section on every video or post he’s in online.
Mayor Pete is what we expect from America. Intelligence, decency, honesty, lack of bias.
I couldn’t agree anymore. Mayor Pete decent, intelligence and likable guy
Sorry.... But blacks can expect more misery if he is ever elected. His victimization narrative will keep blacks on the democratic Plantation and as second class citizens, which is just what Lyndon Baines Johnson said he wanted to do... keep them tethered to the Democratic party.
So now we do not pay [ the majority of ] Blacks to work, as opposed to slavery where we forced Blacks to work without pay.. either way they are permanent members of the under class due to weak liberal thinking.
I know what you are thinking... WRONG... my career has been in the labour movement and human rights movement... I am a moderate. ....
Edward Harley I appreciate your views and would like to hear why you think that African Americans will never have what whites have? Do you think that racism will never die?
Everyone has bias reee reee

Mayor Pete is intelligent, sensible, inclusive and kind. He'd be a great POTUS or even VP.

@Vasilijan Nikolovski If you pay a little attention, you might find out. And I like to encurage you, it is quite easy and to listen to someone smart, kind, and inclusive might be a nice change from what is in the WH / GOP right now...
@Dicky Jones if you voted Hillary you already did.
@Vasilijan Nikolovski By establishing trust first, he's getting the attention of right-swinging voters who share some of the same common values and concerns. It's also the best way to get them to listen up and hear more.
And he recently did spell out a number of his policy positions, and posted them to his site:

THANK YOU MAYOR PETE. I swear every time the man opens his mouth to speak I like him more and more. The biggest issue with American policing is mutual mistrust. Contrary to what certain activists want us to believe, the cops in general aren't seething racists, and contrary to what other activists want us to believe, the neighborhoods aren't filled with nihilistic animals. And statistically, unarmed shootings don't learn towards black folks. No number of "cops are pigs" rallies will fix American policing.
I'm still keeping my mind open. I really like everything about him so far, he's the closest thing to a spiritual successor to Obama that I've seen, but if ends up being a SJW, I'm out. If it turns out that he can be gay and also not be a raging Justice Warrior, I will be excited to consider him.
@Ben Smith "And statistically, unarmed shootings don't learn towards black folks."
If you're gonna make a claim like that, then you'd better back it up. Even a link to Wikipedia is better than nothing.
I say that, statistically, unarmed shootings _do_ lean towards black folks:
"A study carried out at the University of California found "evidence of a significant bias in the killing of unarmed black Americans compared to unarmed white Americans".[1] In this study, the probability of being shot by the police as a black, unarmed person versus as a white, unarmed person was 3.49 times higher. Unarmed Hispanics' likelihood to be shot was 1.67 times higher than for unarmed Whites.
The number vary greatly depending on the county, sometimes reaching a probability of 20 to 1 or more for unarmed blacks to be shot. There are several maps that showcase the distribution of fatal shootings across the country.
Contrary to popular belief, crime rate was not associated with likelihood of being shot in this study."
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooting_bias#Likelihood_of_being_shot:_Black_vs._White
RedLightMax If you look at statistics on lethal officer shootings in America over the past few years, white victims make up the plurality. My source on this is Statista, which is a highly regarded statistical aggregation website. Yes, black people are overrepresented *relative to their population within the country.* Of course, we all know this. The question is WHY this is so. It is true that the African American community is vastly overrepresented in violent crime, according to the CDC. So a higher incidence of high-intensity police interaction between cops and the black community is certainly to blame in part for black overrepresentation in officer involved shootings. The other proportion, racial bias and yes, in certain cases, blatant racism, needs to be dealt with immediately. My whole point regarding Mayor Pete's perspective is that the divide must be healed through the building of trust between at risk communities and and the police departments that serve them. A cop will likely be more on edge and trigger happy on a call to a neighborhood with high crime rates and police noncompliance. A black crime suspect is more likely to jump to evasion of police process or worse if he thinks cops are simply out to lynch him. It's simple psychology and somehow the far left and far right can't seem to come to a common sense position on this.
@@TomSmith-gw6fn awesome my friend, perfect analysis of the facts, can you please get into some kind of government office or media Outlet. No joke real respect
Matt Rowland It is good to get informed - but after a candidate is chosen, it is time to unite even if one does not 100% agree. Important is the D because it is in any case a million times better for us, the country and our future than what the GOP would ever present!
Pete Buttigieg listens to the question and then actually answers it. And when he does I realize that he not only knows what he is talking about but he has given a lot of thought to it. What a relief to have someone, finally, who has a brain, a heart, is authentic, no BS, and will be able to lead us out of the nightmare of Trumpenstein.

I love Pete's face at the end lol. I'll admit I'm a Bernie supporter all the way but I live in the next county over from South bend in Indiana and I have to say, Mayor Pete is the only politician that's ever responded to me when I complained about something on their social media. I think he really gives a shit. I want Sanders but I wouldn't be pissed about Pete. He's a good guy for sure.
I love Bernie! And no matter what happens, we have him to thank for steering the conversation to so many points that need to be addressed. But the man is 77 y/old. He’d be 78 if elected and at the end of 1 term, 82 yrs old. No matter how passionate and intelligent someone is -and Bernie is both of those - health complications increase rapidly at those ages. I hate to sound ageist but I really don't want to ever wonder if a sitting president is mentally or physically capable again.
That said, if Bernie were to end up as the nominee, I’d fully support him. However, if Pete prevails, I’m sure Bernie would have a place in his cabinet if he wanted it. He seems to have no problem reaching out to and utilizing competent experienced folks.
I think we will be talking about mayor Pete a lot in the next 20 months

People have varied upbringings/experiences and knowledge, which determines the methods of how they construct meaning to the world around them. We have to understand that we are a ethnically, politically, religiously, geographically and intellectually diverse country, so expecting FPTP to be an effective system cannot work for much longer. One look at the political system that we have today has been enough for the brightest minds in politics to reevaluate the entire structure of our government. Now that HBO said they"re gonna up their content by 150% Real Time should be an hour and a half. The show has proven to be successful so why not piggyback it? The people want longer time with guests so more points can be unpacked and debated properly. If Joe Rogan can have the most popular show compared to any other platform it shows people want more time. People cant keep a fake persona for 3 hours without it becoming obvious. Andrew Yang 2020
Joe Rogan is fortunate enough to produce his own show and is not obligated to satisfy any sponsors. You are talking about HBO here...
People aren't that much into politics. Most of his viewers are probably here to see Bill crap on politicians not to hear hours long politics talk.
@@grizzlybear3110 I see your point, but it doesn't say much for his viewers...
@@grizzlybear3110 actually I'd say most are here because of politics. This show got me into politics.
Laughed out loud!!!!!
that eye roll after "and he's probably never felt up a woman"
jesus
Such a crass comment.
Then Sullivan looked around the table at every person seeking approval for his stupid joke.
1bwash right!? Ugh, what a moron!
Wtf was that last comment? Lmao. Pete was like, "oooookay"
After several bad ones in a row, this was a very good episode.
Bill Maher who voted for Ralph Nader in 2000 blabbing about melenials always makes me mad as hell.
pakpala1 That’s exactly what I’m talking about. A majority of millennials are over 25-30. It’s Y that has the safe spaces, etc. and even that is overblown. He should zero his rage in on his boomer generation who’s really responsible for the current world. His hang ups just get really old.
Love it Will & Grace 😂 I wish overtime was longer
Why wouldn't Trump appoint people he sees on TV who say what he likes when that's how he got his current job. He figures "if it worked for me it works for me"
Good people ! Good show !
I think it’s ludicrous to say that in 2016 Trump was the only candidate talking about the things that mattered to “everyday people.” He wasn’t putting forth anything other than false narratives about Hillary! Just face it, his voters and supporters weren’t listening for anything but who could make the most noise.
Trump was, however, saying it's ok to be white, or ok to be male. The other party was saying white males are to blame for virtually ALL of the nation's problems, and calling anybody who disagreed with them racist.
Apart from a strong distaste for politics-as-usual and the stick-in-the-eye a vote for Trump would deliver, I believe the above was a big factor in why average blue collar workers abandoned the Dems after decades of loyalty.
I hear you, but you also have to give people an out if you're going to get a swing voter to vote for you
@@georgehugh3455 quite insightful
Exactly!
@The Irish Italian I'd agree that they are turning off potential voters unnecessarily. It's even stranger when the labeling/name-calling becomes so ingrained that liberals call out fellow liberals because _"they're not Progressive enough."_
9:59 Pete Buttigieg's face after the bald guy's comment lol
I'm sure Bald didn't mean it in the way he said it LMFAO!!!! It's like one of those times when you try and say something clever and you immediately Face Palm "why the fuck did I say that"
He probably meant Pete hasn't sexually harassed anyone, but Pete looks like he took it as Baldy calling him a virgin. 2 different perspectives.
Damn...Sullivan got old and irrelevant...GO Mayor Pete!
Buttigieg is such a great tonic to all the irrational, do-nothing chattering class.
Thank you Mr. Maher
Mayor Pete >>>> Beto
Pete’s eye roll at end was great,,,
Bernie Sanders speaks to the people and to the issues that are important to America. He has the age and wisdom to be the best president this country ever had. Why people are resisting Bernie is beyond me.
Because the establishment is working overtime to smear him, and has been for years.
The DNC stole the 2016 Primary from Bernie Sanders, and that should tell you who's in control! The Democratic Party, is not Left, they are Center-Left, and that means they will burn him again in 2020. The DNC helped Trump win, when they did that to Bernie. Many Bernie voters voted for Trump, out of resistants to the DNC corruption. so if there's anyone to blame for Trump being president it's Hillary Clinton and the DNC. Because Bernie had the votes Bernie could have won if the Democratic party, would have let him. Look for a repeat in 2020!
Lol at mayor petes eyeroll at the end
I’m impressed with Mayor Pete!
Poor Mayor Peter, he looks almost frustrated that his gayness is being brought up yet again. His expression at the very end suggested he didn't much care for the "probably never felt up a woman" comment. He is a good, smart, kind, gentle man who has excellent insights and policy ideas, can we please stop talking about the fact that he happens to be married to a man? It's really no big deal.
So disappointed that you let Bharara dodge the question about how Trump avoided prosecution for DECADES. Dammit!
"caring about your community, caring about your kids.. they're shared American values".
Nah, they're just values. Everyone in the world has them.
