One cool aspect about the movies of the what's new era you could explore in a video is how each of them is based on a common folklore myth like the curse of Cleopatra, big foot, the loch Ness monster etc

Like Red Herring. Aside from that, yes, it's a bop. I love it. It will always be my favourite Scooby theme song.
"What's new" was my Scooby-Doo too, even being born in the early '90s. It's the closest i've seen to the spirit of the original series, but updated enough. In the future it will be an interesting nostalgic time capsule.
Hey Billiam, I just wanted to express how much I appreciate you doing this retrospective on Scooby Doo. To this day, it’s one of my favourite things with a very, VERY special place in my heart. I think you’ve done a marvelous job in doing it justice, and I enjoyed it just as much as your other videos (if not more!) Looking forward to see what you bring us in the coming days, weeks, months, etc.
Your description of how people love and are "intimate" with the movies is absolutely spot-on with me and the Loch Ness Monster one. That one was my JAM when I was a kid and I must've watched it at least 10 times, which is a lot for me since I don't usually re-watch movies. Thanks for all the nice things you said about it! It was great to feel nostalgic about simpler times. I'm excited for new vids in the year to come!
I think it is important to remember that around the time the show was being produced technology was becoming more advanced which was definitely shown in the show and I think that’s a big part of why the episodes were technology based. Episode such as when the mystery machine was haunted show the laptop being cutting edge for the time
I was happy to discover this series, my family had the entire original series on dvd and after watching it back-to-back several times over I was grateful to have something that wasn't the episodes we'd seen several times over. Honestly, this was a big relief for me, but my sister wasn't as fond of it so the dvd we got didn't see much use.
ey dude, your commentaries and the way you approach the audience with your tone is awesome. You are definitely going to hit a million or 2 within the next year or two, good luck with the ad money and i wish you well bro!
I think the best way for Scooby Doo is to make a more adult version of it. Basically have more of a feel that the Supernatural/scooby Doo crossover had in Supernaturals last season. It did an amazing job capturing both the feel of supernatural and Scooby doo
This was and still is my favorite Scooby Doo series- I love it since it's just got that Scooby charm, but with more modern writing sensibilities that makes for a lot more legitimate humor than the amusing nature of past series. Plus, it definitely gives Scooby and Shaggy's antics a jump in creativity, Daphne finally has a real niche in the gang outside being the de facto leader when Fred isn't around or being the girly girl otherwise and Fred finally has character. Like, I've loved all the Scooby series post What's New and would argue they all do things better in terms of giving their shows identity. Like, I loved the darker, story driven nature of Mystery Incorporated, I loved the edge of the humor Be Cool had, while still keeping the show's characters rooted to not make them unlikable like, say, Teen Titans Go. Be Cool still has the characters show each other a level of friendship that feels like familial bickering than straight up being horrible people to one another. And Guess Who feels like it kinda combines the classic formula with some of the edge and absurdity of Be Cool, being a good throw back while still feeling unique...ish. It's an enjoyable watch, but it really feels like a mixed bag since some episodes are great and others are the Funky Phantom Crew's mess of an episode. I am a die hard Scooby fan, though, and while I have individual moments I dislike, maybe even whole episodes in some cases, I love me some Scooby Doo. You can make it vanilla, you can make it strawberry, you can just add some sprinkles and call it a day. Whatever the case, I will always love Scoobert Doobert Doo.
Y'know seeing this was kinda eye opening! This was the Scooby-Doo I grew up on, and seeing the faults was a lil weird to see, especially since I always just accepted this as the best show simply because I grew up on it. Tho I still think this version had the best voice cast. An older Casey Kasem just fits Shaggy best to me.
I grew up renting this show on volume VHS and DVDs from my local video rental store. I eventually got a one of the volumes on DVD, and later bought all three seasons due to nostalgia, and just absolutely loving that theme song. I once played the song on a CD with me scrolling through a paper scroll of pictures I drew of the lyrics for a project in music class of my elementary school. Yeah, that's how much I loved it. Also, I watched all of the straight to video movies until Scooby-Doo! and the Samurai Sword, then I just watched a few here and there.
Okay, visually it sucked. But it was genuinely funny and both kept the characters you knew and love while expanding upon them. Besides... nothing will ever look as hideous as the live-action or Get a Clue.
*WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE WHAT'S NEW SCOOBY DOO MONSTER(S)?* Mine: The Titanic Twist The Headless Snowman The Baseball Specter 30 Foot Shaggy The clones The Skeletal Driver Frozen Fiend Gold Monster And the Gusano Grande
Dude I got my nephew who just turned 4 to sit down and watch this Scooby Doo a few months back. It's his favorite uncle Ben show, and my uncle always say with me and watched the OG Scooby Doo and that's how I became a fan. I always have new Scooby Doo stuff a try, as a kid I watched all the movies, every Halloween I watched the Scooby marathons, a pup named Scooby Doo, and even when I was in the hospital recovering from surgeries my grandparents and uncle would stop by at least once and we would spend all day watching Scooby Doo. It has so many good memories for my family and I, even the newer less imaginative animation versions I watch and they always bring a smile to my face. Thanks Billiam for these retrospective looks at my favorite American cartoon
The ones I grew up on were this and Mystery Incorporated. I also loved the olds ones, especially 13 ghosts. I watched almost all the Scooby doo movies. So basically I love this show. But we must agree: Be Cool, Scooby Doo is awful!
I was obsessed with this series as a child but coming back as an adult I agree with basically everything you said, I still think they are cute and have good moments but I wouldn't sit down and watch hours of it like when I was a kid. I think they make a really good background tv show for cleaning though, don't need to pay attention to know whats going on and good music
I mean, when I was very very young, I watched the old 70's show. I still own most episodes on DVD. I also grew up watching What's New Scooby Doo on dvd as well as it was the newest version. I honestly enjoy both shows.
Glade to see that you 're still reviewing more Scooby stuff Billiam. Hope we get to see you review Scooby and Scrappy, the 13 ghosts of Scooby Doo, a pup name Scooby Too, and all the other Scooby movies.
He completed the 5 outfits I’m so proud! What’s new was on Cartoon Network all the time, and even though I watched every single episode, I still could never like it as much as the older one not even as a kid. They just weren’t scary and I felt comforted by that. Even the movies feel Less scary, but I still own every single one. I think this video explains very well what what’s new makes you feel.
I think this iteration of Scooby-Doo will always be my favorite because it came out and was on from 2002-2006 when I was 3-7. This was MY SHOW where I was that age. It was the only one I would watch, I still have a VHS of the first four episodes of the show. I was given all three seasons on DVD as a Christmas gift and still have them to this day over ten years later. I have a lot of those movies on VHS and DVD as well. I can see the flaws in it now but I can't help watching it because it makes me feel like a kid again. This and the original series (which was also played in heavy rotation at my house) was like the only thing I would watch for years. (And i do have to say I sometimes binge all three seasons.) The Kiss episodes are my favorite.
I grew up watching What’s new scooby doo and the later movies. I loved them, I always found them to be fun & entertaining. I found it interesting a lot of things were now tech based including the monsters. I still rewatch the movies and the show to this day!
I heavily remembered this series, in fact, it was my very first Scobby show that I was present for from it's start to end (was born in 90 when "A pup named Scooby Doo" was airing through). Also, it's the first Scobby Doo series to be under Warner Animation, plus, in the start of that same year, the channel it aired on, Kids WB started airing classic eps of the original series every weekday, which got me fully in the series (didn't have cable growing up, so no cartoon Network influence during the mid 90s), plus, it was the 3rd broadcast channel to air Scooby after ABC (way before the Disney buyout). The Christmas episode was a prime time special that aired on Friday night on the WB network, which is no stranger to airing primetime animations of their Saturday morning/weekday content, also the same with their Halloween and Valentine's day eps. Heck, one time, to promote the show, Shaggy & Scobby had an animated cameo in the 7th (& final) season of "Sabrina the teenage witch" on the same network, Ironically enough STTW (a Paramount television distributed series) aired on Scobby's old network, ABC until spring 2000 and the WB picked up the series, also, both properties also started out on CBS ,& at the time of the WB Scooby era, CBS aired only Nickelodeon content. Before the announcement of WNSD, I too wondered if they'll make a new Scooby show, as to my overall feel looking back, it's the same and matches your thoughts a bit, I wasn't too dazzed by the incredibly bright colors clashing everywhere, luckily enough, some things were different in the following Scooby Doo series, it's definitely a look all on it's own with experimental Scooby designs for TV shows lasting up until Scooby Doo & Guess who ,which feels more back to basics.
I dont think you realize how Daphne and Velma characters changed as much tho. Daphne brought more to the team than just a pretty face and a damsel in distress. She uses her knowledge in cosmetics more to help with cases. She also is a black belt in this series she went to classes in china if i'm not mistaken. Velma is much more sarcastic and tends to be the funniest one and to be blunt they gave her personality and she not standing in the background being mostly quiet anymore, this series made her more than the girl who is smart. Like how you like the golf episode, she was the exact opposite of herself due to her fear of clowns! that was one of my favorite episodes too especially since it presents the characters in a different light you didnt expect Shaggy to be brave of Velma to run and hide. This series gave each character more personality and are relatable. which at least to me will make it the best series in a long time.
So if i can recommend something, look at a few Scooby Movies at least All of the red shirt Shaggy Movies are...not good, in a great way And please please please look at Rock and Roll Mystery,
@Johto well it is believed that it all took place in a alternate universe or if Scooby-doo return to zombie island is to be believed it all happened in the same dimension I really don't like return to zombie island it does a horrible job putting everything together
I will always remember the time I was like 5 or 6 and I woke up in the morning not being able to turn my head or move because it was so painful, I could only face the wall. I started to freak out and scream to my brother and sister who were in the living room and told them to call my dad. They called and he basically said "that seems like a you kind of problem." My brother and sister hung up and were like "well, see ya" and started to go back to the living room. I begged them to stay and keep me company, which they agreed to but were annoyed by. They then started to watch scooby-doo monster in mexico. I could hear the movie playing and started to have an internal struggle with life because that was my favorite movie at the time. I then forced myself to turn to face the tv. I then got in trouble because everyone thought I was lying... Long story short: whenever I see scooby-doo monster I get flashbacks to that.... great video btw

@@SmrtPhonRtistCF It was also included as a post credits bonus feature on the "Scooby Doo Goes Hollywood" VHS.
No but i like to see it
This show still has the best modern-day character designs for the gang. Especially Velma. Her hair looks so good.
This is the Scooby Doo I remember, loved it as a kid
I didn't even notice Shaggy had sandals in this
He’s only worn them twice. Three counting Aloha, Scooby-Doo
They always ask who’s the monster never how’s the monster
WHY IS THE MONSTER
"What's new" was my Scooby-Doo too, even being born in the early '90s. It's the closest i've seen to the spirit of the original series, but updated enough. In the future it will be an interesting nostalgic time capsule.
Honestly the theme song was too memorable.
Hey Billiam, I just wanted to express how much I appreciate you doing this retrospective on Scooby Doo. To this day, it’s one of my favourite things with a very, VERY special place in my heart.
I think you’ve done a marvelous job in doing it justice, and I enjoyed it just as much as your other videos (if not more!)
Looking forward to see what you bring us in the coming days, weeks, months, etc.
It’s time for Scooby-Doo: Into the Scooby-Verse
Yep

Shaggy's OG voice actor is pronounced K.C. Case-Uhm
David Stinnett that’s how you know he didn’t do enough research
Hannah Mashburn or he just made a simple mistake. He’s only human
5:11 I think its pronounced Casey "Case-Um"
Your description of how people love and are "intimate" with the movies is absolutely spot-on with me and the Loch Ness Monster one. That one was my JAM when I was a kid and I must've watched it at least 10 times, which is a lot for me since I don't usually re-watch movies. Thanks for all the nice things you said about it! It was great to feel nostalgic about simpler times. I'm excited for new vids in the year to come!
Samurai Sword was my personal favorite Scooby movie back then
I think it is important to remember that around the time the show was being produced technology was becoming more advanced which was definitely shown in the show and I think that’s a big part of why the episodes were technology based.
The Lochness Monster Movie was my childhood
ey dude, your commentaries and the way you approach the audience with your tone is awesome.
You are definitely going to hit a million or 2 within the next year or two, good luck with the ad money and i wish you well bro!
I grew up watching What’s New Scooby Doo. It’s definitely one of my favorite versions of Scooby Doo.
10:43 Hilarious! Great review, I agree with several things you had said. The music was definitely the best part of this incarnation of Scooby Doo.
I think the best way for Scooby Doo is to make a more adult version of it. Basically have more of a feel that the Supernatural/scooby Doo crossover had in Supernaturals last season. It did an amazing job capturing both the feel of supernatural and Scooby doo
Billiam looking like he just wants to live a quiet life with that purple shirt.
The monster of locht ness movie was my favorite scooby doo movie as a kid
This was my jam back when I was a kid.
What's new Scooby Doo introduced me to Simple Plan, still love them!
Alexandru V. I was huuuuuuuge into simple plan back in the day and this show was a big reason why
What songs do you recommend?
I grew up renting this show on volume VHS and DVDs from my local video rental store. I eventually got a one of the volumes on DVD, and later bought all three seasons due to nostalgia, and just absolutely loving that theme song. I once played the song on a CD with me scrolling through a paper scroll of pictures I drew of the lyrics for a project in music class of my elementary school. Yeah, that's how much I loved it. Also, I watched all of the straight to video movies until Scooby-Doo! and the Samurai Sword, then I just watched a few here and there.
At some point you will have to do BE COOL Scooby doo and when that comes
I wish you good luck
Okay, visually it sucked. But it was genuinely funny and both kept the characters you knew and love while expanding upon them. Besides... nothing will ever look as hideous as the live-action or Get a Clue.
Be Cool did with Daphne what Mystery Incorporated did with Fred, gave her a gimmick that made her interesting
@@maxixe3143 i absolutely agree with this
Plus it made Fred be more like the straight man leader like he was in the original Hanna Barbara shows
@@freddyrichards878 I loved Daphne hijinks in Be Cool she trained a freaking falcon XD
**See you in Fred’s clothes**
**But your in Daphne‘s colors**
**CONFUSED SCREAMING!**
The Scooby Doo of my generation
What's new Scooby Doo why it's amazing
1. Theme tune
2. Robot dog
3. Daphnes bag
The way you pronounce aesthetic has created a new pet peeve for me.
Thank god I'm not alone on that. It's like my ears have been violated.

We're in this together
When I was a kid the Scooby Doo episode where the house came to life freaked me out. I had nightmares for weeks afterwards.
I always love this version of Scooby Doo! The theme song rocks!
I can’t believe how much I saw this as a kid, it’s insane. The movie too
Thank you for your blessings, wise one.
*WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE WHAT'S NEW SCOOBY DOO MONSTER(S)?*
Mine:
The Titanic Twist
The Headless Snowman
The Baseball Specter
30 Foot Shaggy
The clones
The Skeletal Driver
Frozen Fiend
Gold Monster
And the Gusano Grande
the chinese dragon will always be my fav
I don't remember the monsters. But I do remember that theme song though
The evil clones of the mystery gang, the scarecrows and the wiki tiki
Both dragons and the Civil War ghosts were my favorite.
Yes
But we must agree:
Be Cool, Scooby Doo is awful!
Dude I liked be cool Scooby doo
I was obsessed with this series as a child but coming back as an adult I agree with basically everything you said, I still think they are cute and have good moments but I wouldn't sit down and watch hours of it like when I was a kid.
I think they make a really good background tv show for cleaning though, don't need to pay attention to know whats going on and good music
I mean, when I was very very young, I watched the old 70's show. I still own most episodes on DVD. I also grew up watching What's New Scooby Doo on dvd as well as it was the newest version. I honestly enjoy both shows.
Fred's probably like: Do you even lift bro?
I’m calling it, he’s going to review on Shaggy & Scooby-Doo get a clue on 2020
4 years later lol
Billiam: “the first time its been marketed towards a much younger demographic.”
A Pup Named Scooby Doo: Am I a f***ing joke to you?
It's fun how my first ever memory is me waking up to watch scooby doo
This show was okay, but this was the one that was always on when I was young.
Yeah, Me too.
It was the one that cartoon Network aired when I discovered the franchise
Yes although I watch every episode I never liked it as much as the older one
You make lots of valid points that make sense. I love lots of nostalgia for this series especially the Loch Ness monster movie. Great job as always.
“What’s newbert Scoobert Doobert, I’m coming after youbert” was so hilarious to me. Lol
So if i can recommend something, look at a few Scooby Movies at least
All of the red shirt Shaggy Movies are...not good, in a great way
And please please please look at Rock and Roll Mystery,
Was Ghoul School red shirt? Though that one's fondly remembered mostly for introducing kids to monster girls.
@Johto well it is believed that it all took place in a alternate universe or if Scooby-doo return to zombie island is to be believed it all happened in the same dimension I really don't like return to zombie island it does a horrible job putting everything together
Ghoul School was one of the first movies I saw. I watched it in daycare on VHS when I was really young.
@@sauv01 Wow, when I was 5 years old I adored that movie
EXCELLENT video dude! I LOVE the Whats New Scooby Doo theme song! It’s so short though
Bro it’s a scarf, it keeps your neck warm. Who cares how to tie it so long as you don’t get chilly?
Well, you want to avoid tying in such a way as to end up strangling yourself too, but that's about it.
One of my favorite parts of the show was the reoccurring characters like Giby, Melbourne, and the dogs
I had a crush on this version of Velma. oh, nostalgia.
Now this is the Scooby-doo I loved and grew up with. Nothing can top that unforgettable intro. I miss the cartoons of the early and mid 2000s.
“The Scooby-Doo version of New Super Mario Brothers”
That is the *P E R F E C T* way to put it.
Next episode Billiam dresses as Scooby
Fred being a complete Himbo in this era is one of my favorite changes
Is the next costume going to billiam shirtless with a dog collar?
I love this show with a passion this along with Where Are You and The Scooby-Doo show and the Direct-To-Video films were my introductions to Scooby-Doo
What’s new scooby doo is my favorite since I grew up on it
The theme song was so good, i always found the "westworld" and "the thing" episodes were the best
Digimon Movie Bingo Card...now that is not a reference I have not heard in a long time
what’s new scooby doo is so phenomenal idc
I didn't realize they lived together in this show. Truly the poly representation we needed
this has the BEST scooby theme song. Fight me about it.
