I’m glad you shared this. My leather steering wheel in my 15 Sti is destroyed (previous owner) and I don’t feel like spending $400 plus. Thanks for the share
This is a more intricate install than wheelskins products. Their products also don't tuck under the trim panels. I have one in my Miata. th-cam.com/video/cZXBzAdjvBY/w-d-xo.html
@@CarsWithJR Did you find it easier to install? I haven't tried the baseball stitch but the more straightforward pattern was not difficult and their install videos are great.
I used the brand Auto Interior Technic AIT all Japanese Suede Wrap, I paid sth $80 for it. I did used double sided tapes and the materials on my didn’t show any tapes underneath and the threads were great. Will highly recommended.
I've had ads for this product pop up in my social media feeds like crazy over the past week. Thanks for posting this video. I was really on the fence about getting one for my 2020 Impreza Sport; it looks like a PITA to install, but it's also a decent price. I also thought I would have to remove the stock leather cover, so it's good to know I can easily return it to stock or bail on the install without having to fix anything. So, skip the tape, use better thread, and make sure it's warm enough to stretch. Thanks again!
Ironically my 3 year old Sti steering wheel has just been replaced by Subaru, as the leather disintegrated on the original (even though on had 40km on it and it sits in the garage)...if they didn't warranty it, I was going to try this...MIght still do it just protect the original one, as they seem to only have short life expectancy. Thanks for the honest review.
This seems like a great alternative from buying a new steering wheel from like $500-$800. Might just buy this for my steering wheel, dont really wanna do a quick release either.
I'm actually planning on getting an aftermarket steering wheel next year, so if you do go down that route please make a good DIY install video. I know there are others out there, but I like watching multiple videos on installing a part in order to get a well rounded idea of what I'm supposed to do! 😉
Should have gone with Redlinegoods.com, you should have opted for the padding aswell, it would have given it a better look and feel on the seams. The spot you talked about at the seam could have been avoided by ironing the seams prior to installation. So your not going to get the stretch you want with that mix of fabrics, you have a faux alcantara that doesn't stretch much and a faux leather that aswell doesn't stretch a awful lot. wrap will be about 250$ and you see that the quality of the product is superb. It is RACE quality alcantara. Drop the extra $$ and get yourself something that you will not only enjoy but be proud of. But for those on a budget or cant afford the quality wrap then this isnt as bad as it could be. Very good & informative video.🤙
I'm definitely getting one of these wraps. My watch nicked my wheel a few months back and its driving me nuts. Your Amazon link in the description isn't working btw
@@hectormorelos4793 not yet but soon 🙏 have had my hands on one and have been inlove since. The quality is amazing, the feel of it is that of a top end Ferrari or Lamborghini.
@@CarsWithJR as far as full replacement aftermarket wheel. They have the basic c.f. wheels up to the electronic ones. Just a thought. If you got one on the way, no worries then.
@@CarsWithJR Sorry just had to say something before i unsubbed. The wrx was just way to slow for me. The straight line fast and the sheer torque of swerving through 1st and 2nd gear. Never felt anything like it, smiles all day. Have a nice day man, didn't mean to hate or whatever.
@@CarsWithJR Na, just the best bang for your buck. I always wanted a wrx since I was 18, and when I finally got one I was very disappointed. I found I don't care so much the handling than sheer raw hp. I love straight line fast.

I've had great success with wheelskin wraps. They have great install videos that show you all the tricks of stitching. Pretty straight forward

Looks pretty good you just need a steamer which will help the material stretch as mentioned 👍😊
Got mine wrapped with real Napa leather and Alcantara by my friend Aaron from Sweidit. Really cool dude!
Just ordered a suede/leather cover for my AMG. Thank you for posting this.
I literally ordered that exact one. Guess I’m not alone in liking the suede/smooth leather wheel cover
The amount of times you said steering wheel..

Let’s goooo, now I don’t have to wash my hands after a drive😂(when it got humid, flakes of the steering wheel would stick to my hands)
Do you take the old cover off first or do you just go to the top of the old steering wheel cover?
Cheers for the vid! Was this close to spending $600 on a new wheel! I’m now inquiring if they ship to Australia (now or in the future)
Thank you for this, I got the carbon and suede coming!
How was the carbon fiber on it? And how long did install take ?
The point of the tape is to make the threading process easier
You should have done tight stitching at the spokes and switch up to every other stitch . Still looks great tho!
So did it hold up ?
Thanks for sharing and the video. Great reviews on products 🤙🏽 thanks again
What is the AEM gauge mounted on your dash next to the accessport?
Derek MacKenzie Wide Band o2
@@cameronbeyer7687 and My WRX Channel".. Why do you need the Wide Band O2 gauge when the Cobb Accessport already monitors air / fuel ratio?
Derek MacKenzie the wide band sees a wider range of A/F, making tuning, mainly e tuning much easier and requiring less revisions.
I gotta do this for mine my steering wheel is peeling bad
What was the thread that was suggested to use instead?
Just ordered one for my s2000. Hope they come out good as yours
