    I think the Wing Chun punch is actually useful against unprepared opponents because it winds them while overwhelming with the rapidity of minor punches. Combine this with the variable fist styles of Wing Chun (you could use a finger-pointed fist to target the sternum for a knife like effect), and you get 1 winded opponent.

    • @Gianno_
      @Gianno_ ปีที่แล้ว +8

      In a real life scenario a fighters not going to stand with their arms by their waist while you punch them like in the demo. If you’re punching with both arms you leave your head exposed to a punch or elbow strike.

    • @ikik1648
      @ikik1648 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Gianno_ Well in a real life scenario, like a drunken bar fight, or a late night subway fight, I don’t think you could count many assailants as trained fighters that could form cohesive strikes. Sure their arms aren’t at their sides like this diagram, but they are likely going to try doing overly exposed hooks or rudimentary grappling in which Wing Chun can be used to disrupt them.

    Speaking practically, my instructors have always said "never kick above the waist," due to the slow delivery and how compromised your stance will be if the strike misses or gets deflected (or, worse, gets caught, like in the very next clip).
    Much better to deliver that technique to the solar-plexus or groin and follow it up by stepping through into the guy, turning your momentum into one of several techniques involving your elbows and their skull, depending on how they react to being kicked.

    • @Ceiling_panel_enthusiast329
      @Ceiling_panel_enthusiast329 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Ignore them just improve speed and there is no way you can catch or block a kick without breaking your forearm
      And there are many extremely simple and easy ways to escape a caught kick
      Plus set a kick up with a hard hook and then a kick . There’s no way they be able to stop that without being superman
      Or set kicks up with another kick aka kick them in the shins or groin and then went bent over from the pain kick in the liver or head to finish them off if they haven’t already ran away

    I'm glad you threw in the sanda stuff. The big limitation with kung fu is realism. There are masters that have never been pressure tested. As a result, they have tricked themselves into believing they have a near mystical ability. But realistically, it's the sanda that ties kung fu together by adding at least some level of realism. And personally for me, Sanda is the most entertaining

      It's called chi sao. It's a drill to build sensitivity in the fore arms to increase the reaction time of blocking attacks and counterattacking simultaneously. That is also connected to chi gerk; an exercise where sensitivity in the legs is established for sweeping and tripping movements used in takedowns. Both of these are practiced as an intermediate stage to move between forms or kuen sao and free fighting. With these in place it shortens the time it takes take master it to 100 days to 3 years instead of the 20 years it would normally take through direct combat experience.

    As Bruce Lee, hes credited for knowing much, but was that simply because no one had any knowledge knowledge.
    Look at all martial arts styles, Gracie Jiu Jitsu came in and it took over the world of martial arts. Where Judo has long been established, yet everything gets watered down in America. if u are looking for quick results dont go for kung fu, kung fu takes the longest time to master in all of these martial arts, if you are looking for quick results, do hapkido, taekwondo, krav maga, mui thai, anything that is a modern mixed martial art would do.

      Sonny Five Well that all depends on what style of Kung Fu you train. Sanda can give quick results. I train Sanda myself and it's helped me a lot working as a bouncer.

      opps, i forgot lol, sanda is one of my favorite, but i never had a change to try it, it looks like muay thai with some grappling and throwing techniques, but no elbows and knees?

      I ponder often that question.
      What is the most effective tool?
      A hammer is bad for screwing a screw, a screw driver is bad for cutting wood, etc. Effectiveness is relative to what you expect from a martial art.
      Boxing is effective in the ring, Krav Maga is effective for survival, kung-fu is effective for developing flexibility and endurance. Mixed martial arts are like a Swiss knife, it can do everything, but not as well as each individual sport.
      So no, Kung-Fu isn’t effective in a street fight. No martial art truly is. The best you can do is having as many tools as possible or hope the tools you have are good enough.
