Fun fact: Laviente is a sea serpent. The guild is in paralyzing constant fear of their species reaching the main land, but just imagine his return presenting that problem in particular ..? But yeah that's why he has wing flipper things while Dala has legs. One climbs mountains, the other swims around underwater volcanos.
Well mainly on laviente with dalamadur tends to cling on mountain but I think it's said he digs underground to travel long trips between different mountains
If Cotton would've used a Hammer I could've said "This is the second time today I see a man with a Hammer fight a giant Snake." But noooo he had to use the Magnet Spike and ruin this.^^
I feel like cotton should Google vestigial features. Raviente might have had bigger flippers ages ago as a more aquatic serpent and over time the species moved closer to land and has reduced its fins to the point where they are now. In another few million years the flippers could be gone entirely. So that's still good design if you consider them as vestigial which is honestly pretty reasonable
It's still semi aquatic, the guild is literally in constant eternal fear of it reaching the mainland, hence hunters taking its attention to stay on land in huge groups.
Then Cotton remembers wrong. Yes Laviente is bigger then Dalamadur but only ~10 meters. And when both Monsters are well past 400 meters long I don't think ~10 meters would be a deciding factor.^^

Cotton often expresses confusion at a lack of purpose for certain biological features, but this is a well-known part of evolution known as "vestigial features". Sometimes, organisms evolve features that lose their original purpose over time, becoming unnecessary but still being present even in later evolved creatures. Akantor and Ukanlos are great examples, as they still possess remnants of wings, albeit these are vestigial features that no longer serve a known purpose and will likely eventually be lost entirely through further evolution. And sometimes, animals just evolve features that end up useless. There are always winners and losers in the game of life, and evolution is very rarely ever so simple as "feature is necessary for daily living, therefore it stays and is used".

the mental image of laviente borruwing under ground and than running into gaismagorm, and then gaismagorm get annoyed and trows an hunter into the air. is hilarious atleast to me (i think laviente would win, his tusk would be an great weapon against the foe and dalamadur's teeth would struggle against the armour tho if dalamadur would to get a good grip, his arm could be used to slash at laveinte with him having no way to counter attack besides using his body. so i aint saying laveint would win 10 out the 10 time but maybe 5 or 6 out of 10)
