Rumor has it that Unknown was based on a legendary MH1 bug, where a player fighting a Rathian online had his session disconnected and for some reason it unlocked all the flying wyvern moves for the Rathian, meaning it could do Blos charges, Gravios beams, Gypceros flash, etc. Whether it is actually based on said story and whether said story actually happened are both skeptical to highly skeptical, but I find it interesting and remember reading about the "Super Rathian" bug way back when MH1 was out.
First of all that sounds fuckin rad, and I’ve never heard of that. Second I think there’s also an official piece of Rathian art with red eyes that inspired the design
That seems impossible because in MH1, there were no sessions actually. A co op team went on a quest and that quest was completely isolated from the game. No one could rejoin or anything.
@@elsienova4269 the validity of it actually happening is highly suspect. There are a lot of things that would make it seemingly impossible. The story of it happening however definitely existed. So its entirely possible they heard the story.
this is what is missing from modern gaming imo, these types of rumors and urban legends like bigfoot in gta san andreas, or the haunted tumbleweed mansion in red dead redemption, and of course the super rathian. nowadays, datamining ruins any kind of mystery in a game and these types of urban legends just aren't possible anymore
Also gonna post my thoughts on ‘em all while I’m here *Lavasioth, Hypnocatrice, and Espinas* are all great, love ‘em *Akura Vashimu* is really cool but I do feel like the whole tail severing process would be too complicated for a mainline game, I feel like if they do implement Vashimu they should just let the tail be cut without all the extra stuff. The other blood mechanics I could go either way on. I think its crystal ailment is cool, could be a good excuse to bring back cleansers *Akura Jebia* is also rad, basically anything I said for Vashimu that also applies to Jebia carries over here *Berukyurosu* is rad, I don’t really see anything I’d wanna change about it if it were ported over *Pariapuria* is very interesting, the saliva mechanic might be just a little bit much but otherwise a cool monster. I think it’d be interesting if maybe the rock spit changed from stunning to causing ailments based on the food it’s eating, too *The Orugarons* are also very cool, would like to see ‘em for sure *Laviente* is amazing. It or one of its subspecies should _definitely_ make it into a mainline game *Dhuragaua* is neat, personally I don’t _love_ the color palette but it could def grow on me *Doragyurosu* I can’t say much about since I’m not really sure how the movesets of Beru and Dora differ. I like how it looks, though I agree the white fur changing to orange is kinda wacky. I feel maybe a dark red would work better or just scrapping the color-changing aspect altogether *Gurenzeburu* is great. The only thing I’d wanna see changed is maybe just making the weather stormy whenever it’s around or maybe just when it’s enraged, but otherwise really good really unique monster *Rukodiora* is phenomenal, absolutely fantastic. I love the siege weapon idea *Unknown* has a really good concept but I agree that modelling it after the Raths kinda sucks. Would love to see it return with a unique model though. I also agree it prob needs a proper name *Gogomoa* is incredibly unique and I’d love to see it in a mainline game. I don’t even think you’d have to change anything about it, it looks like it’d just work *Abiorugu,* though it may seem redundant cuz of Glavenus at first glance, I feel would be a great addition. The way it looks and fights is different from really any other monster I can think of *Taikun Zamuza's* armor mechanic rocks. The only thing that doesn’t sit right with me is its final form, it just kinda feels like a completely different monster, in a bad way. Def wouldn’t mind it being a separate monster though *Kuarusepusu* is another fantastic monster. Love everything about it, bring it back *The metal fish* have a really interesting gimmick and are def funny but I do feel like in execution they are a little wacky. Them picking eachother up sounds annoying as hell *Odibatorasu* is awesome. I love the idea of having a third Colored God and its moveset looks amazing *HC and Supremacy monsters* will probably find their way into an Apex, Tempered, etc. kind of form *Breeding Season Hypnocatrice* would be really cool if they gave it its HC moveset *Red Lavasioth,* from what I can tell, might not be worth it. I don’t really know what it can do, though, so ‘\_(‘-’)_/’ *Flaming Espinas* is great, love it *Silver Hypnocatrice* _could_ become something special, but from what I can tell it isn’t anything interesting *White Espinas* sounds great as is, bring it back *Violent Laviente* seems cool enough. I agree the color palette is a downgrade but I don’t hate it. Not really sure if it’s worth a spot though, especially since I don’t know much about Berserk, but maybe with some tweaks to make it a bit more unique it could be great
The reason why the Guild has such a problem with Unknown is that despite it being based on Rathian, the monster itself is a huge middle finger to any and all knowledge about the Rath species and heck, even non-elder monsters in general.
Honestly that just gibes me the mental image of a guild researched pulling their hairr out trying to figure out just what in gods name unkown is. Like is it just a mega rare version of Rathian? Is it related in anyways besides appearance? WHY IT IS SO GOD DAMN ANGRY TO THE POINT OF BECOMING A BLACK DRAGON?!
My headcanon is that Unknown is the supernatural conglomeration of all the rage and spite from dead Rath parents who were killed defending their nests from Hunters who wanted to steal their eggs. The demand for Rath eggs is never-ending, and so every time a Rath pair dies protecting their eggs, Unknown's wrath grows stronger. But then I read this thing can gather in flocks.
The way you talked about Unknown was so freaking terrifying. I started in World and am no-lifing in Rise now. I'm actually upset this video is over now. lol
Its funny to see people warming up to Frontier now that it's gone officially when people used to stereotype it for terrible monster design (spikes galor) and fights (big aoe explosions). And while some of that may be true, many of the monsters had amazing designs and concepts and many are finallg realizing that. My personal favorite is Harudomerugu, the liquid metal controlling Elder Dragon.
I definitely held that opinion a little, not to the same extent that some who really didn’t like the way the game looked. The size of Monster Hunter, the easy access to information, and the fact that there’s been some server salvaging has really helped our perception of Frontier, and it’s well passed due.
I've always had a facanation with Frontier monsters. To me they felt like the real nastys of the Monster Hunter world being delegated to the specialized Frontier Hunters of Mezaporta. In other words Frontier is like the wild west where its hunters are often faced with quests that pit them againsed new, unfamiliar and exceptionally dangerous targets in lands that are less explored, if at all by standard hunters.
Frontier was my very first when G2 released with the 360 and windows but never played it past 2 fights. I'm so glad to be able to play it and experience it
It's more just curiosity for a game many fans weren't able to experiance. Frontier did suffer from a few bad designed monsters and aoe shenanigans, but it does have a lot of designs and fights which are legit great and wouldn't seem out of place in any mainline game.
An interesting fact about Doragyurosu is that the element he wields, despite being dealing dragon damage, shares a lot of similarities to thunder instead, and is the only form of dragon element that can paralyze. I believe his monster log calls it "Black Thunder" or something like that. Another neat thing is that he is the complete opposite of Berukyurosu when it comes to dying, supremacy Doragyurosu can resuscitate himself with thunder when on the brink of death, while Berukyurosu will kill himself to avoid capture.
I had the privilege of playing on one of the Frontier private servers, and while I never made it particularly far in the game, what really gripped me was how interactive so many of the monsters were. Take Gogomoa for example - the silk that it produces for every single one of its attacks can be broken before the attack goes off! Because of this you can catapault it around the arena by cutting its binds as it launches itself, or knock it out of the trees as it monkey swings above you. After doing this about half a dozen times it'll exhaust its silk supply, and sit down for a few moments to replenish it by licking its paws, similar to what the Brachydios does. The baby also has a host of unique mechanics - I assumed it would operate like another breakable part at first, but it's actually its own completely seperate monster known as a Kokomoa, and has its own carves and drops. If you hit it enough it will fall off its parent, and when it does, the Gogomoa completely changes its fighting style. The baby will attempt to crawl back to its mother, and the mother, upon reaching the baby, will take a few seconds to make sure it's okay, physically shielding it with its body before allowing it to crawl back onto its back. If you're able to stop this from happening and do enough damage to the baby, that's when it retreats and the mother goes into a super rage state. And that's just one example in a super basic, early game monster. The attention to detail and sheer number of ways you can interact with each monster in Frontier is absolutely incredible, and makes every single monster feel like a unique, living breathing creature in the ecosystem.
There's one thing you (partially) forgot to mention about Kamu and Nono - they were the first of the series's -garon monsters! So you have them to thank for Lunagaron and Odogaron's names.
I gotta prepare the throne and crown for my boy Duremudira. Such an incredible endgame challenge of a fight- he _demands_ perfection and patience, but keeps you rewarded with varied patterns and a lotta spooky. My favorite poison ice cream boy.
Ahhh... Reminiscing about ol' Frontier... Back when I was an absolute MENACE! But in all seriousness, Frontier was actually the game that got me into Monster Hunter surprisingly enough! One day, I was randomly reccomended a video of the Shantien fight and... Let's just say I was intrigued...
I did not realize how many cool monsters frontier has. I think my favorites that I would like to see in mainline would be the akura vashimu, pariapuria, and rukodiora. I haven't played any of the monster hunter games before World (mostly due too a combination of access, age, and not having heard of MH before World). I also did not attempt to Akura Vashimu - I really like scorpions and and crystal themed monsters making this monster just super cool in my mind. Pariapuria - This monster conceptually sounds cool to me, but I mostly would want to see it in a mainline game because I have not seen a whole lot of amphibian salamander looking monsters, so something close to that ascetic I think would be awesome to see. Rukodiora - Magnet dragon. Magnets are cool, dragons are cool, this combines both. That is all that must be said. Also, good video.
I recently got Frontier running on a private server and seeing all these unique monsters in there debut game makes me want so see them in 5th gen even more

This is a wonderful way for honor these monsters and I actually find it funny how we share pretty much the same thoughts with the ratings for these monsters too. When I was younger I would look at the mh wiki fascinated at all the creatures in frontier and this video strangely welled up that feeling of nostalgia for me. Well done on such a fantastic and passionate video my fellow hunter!
Considering the first trailer for wilds showed off the changing weather and the lighting storm striking the smaller monsters I think weather based monsters like Kuarusepusu actually have a decent chance of making it in.
What an amazing job youve done with this video, it really documents the monsters and behavior each have in frontier, pls continue with this series i loved it
Dude, this video is seriously incredible. I know I'm echoing alot of other comments, but your utter passion and love for this series and these monsters is palpable in how you describe them, in your tone and editing and everything. Truly a hidden gem of TH-cam and the MH community. You fucking rock, man. And I'd genuinely love to discuss monster opinions and thoughts, you seem like the coolest dude to talk about things like that with. Rock on, dude and much love from this hunter and Frontier fanatic. 🫶
I think, all the wonderful and interesting monsters aside, the most this series of going bsck to look through Frontier's monsters has taught me is that I really, really want to he able to hunt with a little flying wyvern pal by my side. Those guys would also be a wonderful edition!
I completely agree with you when it comes to Akura Vashimu, Gogomoa and Odibatorasu. I really hope that many of these monsters get their chance to make their big return in the mainline series like how Espinas has at some point or another, because it'd be a shame to leave them all behind to be forgotten. Either way, you got a new subscriber. ^^
I still cant believe videos like this are being made. Like we are in the timeline where mh is now super popular and ppl know what frontier and xplore are it still blows my mind i never thought we would be here. I still have xplore on my phone, old frontier data on my PC and MHO as well. I do hope we get to see alot of these monsters in the future i mean look where we are today n i didnt think mh would have such light on it. I never thought id see frontier monsters added in mainline ever again yet here we are. So i feel like anythings possible
Great video! I actually watched through a good po4tion of RGV's frontier playlist, so at least in that regard, seeing these monsters wasnt entirely unexplored territory for me. And it would be great to get maybe 3 frontier monsters in MH6 and maybe another 2 in the expansion, but that could be wishful thinking. I think my favorite part of your videos is your voice and enthusiasm, anyway looking forward to part 2!
I'd say those numbers are probably a pretty realistic rate for the amount of Frontier monsters we could maybe see in the next game. I wish we could just put all of em in 6 but it pays to temper the expectations a little bit

@@cr-volcanic True. Also, at 1:15:43, in the Japanese Buisness world and spirtual beliefs, Gold and Silver Koi represent coming fortunes of great magnitude, but also a warning of utilizing it wisely. It is fortune of prosperity, and fortune of wealth. Koi are also often used to represent astral bodies like the sun and the moon. Perhaps their in game purpose was a money farm mission of some kind, or a special event. My guess as to why they're at the elder tower might be because they're not truly lavasioths, rather- it's the closest manifestation to the principles Koi represent. 2 Koi fish of black and white OR gold and silver palletes togethor also represent balance across the universe. They fight each other for power over the other but keep each other in check, only working togethor when a threat that imbalances the universe comes into it's domain. Aka, the only foreign being in their universe- *You* . As the hunter... or the player. In essence, you aren't fighting a reproductive, producable monster of any kind. You are slaying the very balance of reality, light and dark, feminine and masculine, fortune of personal life and fortune of buisness life, order and chaos. If you kill one, the universe falls to pieces. If you kill both, nothing remains. You're fighting the embodiment of universal balance on the tower of babel at the tallest part of the world where the sky touches the tip and there is no other man, monster or god, but you. You against all there ever will be and ever was. It's the fortune of deciding the fate of everything... and the warning of it in itself too. Or I could just be reading too deep.
Only 30 minutes in but I just have to comment on how cool these monsters have been so far! Since I started with Rise who had a smaller pool of monsters by comparison, there’s TONS of monsters I’m always learning about. Just makes me all the more excited for the future of the series since so many of these monsters have yet to make their debut to the modern titles, there’s ton of content Capcom can pull from in the future. Great video so far and looking forward to watching the rest of this video series as they come out!
For a bit of clarification, Berukyurosu changes its fighting style by altering its attack patterns in rage mode. I've currently encountered head-focused attack patterns and tail-focused ones, playing Tonfas and Longsword respectively. I suspect there's one for the wings as well. Head focused mode uses a lot more aggressive beam attacks, while tail-focused mode plays a bit more defensively. Both modes seem to do a very good job of keeping the hunter away from the body part in question.
Something that I wish they would do with Rukodiora if they ever bring him back in a future MH game would be for him to violently rip a dragonator out if you ever happen to stand between him and a dragonator, essentially skewering you with the dragonator. Maybe could even rip the dragonator out and use it against you after you stab him with it. It would be something shocking for a lot of people when it happens to them for the first time and would be quite memorable.
Honestly, while I'd love to see my favourite Frontier monsters return because of their interesting hunts its mainly... the music... the music brings me such nostalgia and joy, I really want to hear it all again.
Very cool video! I'm starting to gain a weird affinity for Frontier monsters after my wrongful newbie judgement that "oh Frontier was bad because monster designs silly." Then I started listening to the music.... ooh baby, that music is stellar, and now that I'm getting a proper view of the associated monsters, this game honestly looked like a ton of fun. I can even tell a lot of them had ideas borrowed for future monsters, similar to you mentioning Kulve's siege being inspired from here too. Excited to see more!
Thank you so much for this! back in the MFU era I used to spend hours reading the hunterwiki on MHF looking at all these awesome beasts and thinking it was unfair they never showed up in the console games
Watching this video makes me want those epic weapon movesets in the main series. The switch axe using the sword mode like a jet to rush forward is so COOL
I feel like Aruganosu and Goruganosu could've been perfect tie-ins to the Narwa/Ibushi situation, or potentially have links in the future instead of our friendly neighbourhood egg-sisters going into a trance.
Dude, Odibatorasu has such an amazing theme.. I'm so grateful for fan servers and availability of the game with English translations that community provided, it's so cool
I would like to see most of these monsters make it to the next game. New monsters to the west, I would honestly like to see a whole new roster of monsters with some fan favorites. It's just something new. Also, good job on the video seeing espinas in sunbreak really shocked me and potentially can open the doors to more monsters we haven't seen in main titles.
GREAT video! At first I didn't want to watch a 90+ min video but you hooked me! I watched it in its entirety because it is just so damn well made! Looking forward to the next projects! Cheers
Fantastic video. I like how in-depth you went with these’s monsters. I hope you do Online and Explore justice. There’s a channel all about Explore but nobody knows about it and nobody talks about Online in-depth.
Online I definitely know the least about, especially as a game but it does have some cool stuff. I am very excited about Explore, it may have had a lot of limitations as a mobile game, but it’s monster concepts are surprisingly immaculate
I know you said that you don't like how Violent Raviente's colour palette looks, but that's kind of the point. It's starving to death. Its scales have lost their colours and luster from the lack of nutrients.
@@cr-volcanic I think what might help Violent Rav's colors is a slight tinge of green to showcase his eventual change into Berserk Lav, so his all white scales aren't too prevalent and take up the majority of his palette.
Doragyuroso is probably my fav. Stands out from monsters like Astalos. I love the live wires coming from its wings. The idea that it has counterplay for every weapon type is unique, and the suicide when it suspects capture is downright evil.
I really hope we get Akura Vashimu in a mainline game. Scorpions and spiders both scare the hell out of me (Nerscylla and Rakna are on thin ice) but the deserts of Monster Hunter are arguably some of the least interesting maps on average. Showing them some love with cool monsters and more interesting map designs would be nice.
Shantien is my favorite monster in the entire franchise. It just has this regal, effortless presence as it casually FLOATS through the air, so much better than everything else it doesn’t need dumb "wings" to be the master of the skies. As it gets more and more annoyed at the intruders on its domain, it simply keeps revealing more and more of it's seemingly bottomless power, until finally it has enough and strikes you from the sky and faces you down in an exploding volcano, ultimately not even perishing from the hunters, but from the sheer LEVEL OF POWER it outputs being so astronomical it BLOWS ITSELF UP. Facing down a full power Shantien, who is no longer holding back, surrounded by smouldering rocks and actively exploding volcanos genuinely feels like you're facing something that could end the entire world if you don't win. All paired with what is possibly the greatest masterpiece of a theme any monster has ever been given, and I cannot possibly like any other monster more than him. Also of note; Disufiroa, a black-dragon world-ending level threat, is weak to Shantien's exclusive element, Tenshou. It is even supposedly stated inside in-game dialogue, and by BannedLagiacrus that Shantien is the ancient rival of Disufiroa, implying they are nearly on the same level of power. Amatsu eat your heart out.
you are incredibly undersubbed, this video was amazing and helped me realize how much frontier had to offer. you clearly show a passion for this game, not just with the amount of effort this video took, but with how much you talked about every single monster and how much you showed each and everyone. good video!
Even if some of the monsters don't work completely (like the fish twins), it would be a shame to toss the baby out with the bathwater. There are cool and unique ideas in these games. Worthy of being given a second chance. I totally agree that similarities are not a dealbreaker. Animals have a few patterns they will repeat a ton as well (cat-like and crab-like for example) and why should we expect different from MH? If the fight is sufficently interesting, there is no harm.
The thing about Rise and the things they had in it is that, it was a title that was released partway through the generation. I feel like it's something similar to what Monster Hunter Generations did, as the title released partway through gen 4. The things they added and changed were very much experiments. Not everything stuck around, but some things did. I see the silkbind moves as them re-experimenting with the idea of having special moves, and they may make a return in Wilds. I see Espinas and the other Frontiers stuff as a similar experiment. Gauging interest. See if people enjoy it. I feel like if we dont see new things from Frontiers in Wilds, we'll definitely see it in it's DLC, or in whatever game released 4-5 years from now halfway through gen 6
Thanks for this video. I never got to seriously play Frontier, but this gives me fond memories from High School when I would eagerly watch videos of people playing the game. It was always so cool to see what new Monsters would come out, so it was great seeing them all in order like this and I can't wait to see you cover Frontier G so I can hear you talk about my favorite Elder Dragon Shantien. I was SO happy when Espinas was revealed for Sunbreak. I saw a leak with him in it and thought it was fake because there was just no way and here we are in 2023. Honestly, when TU2 was still being teased, I was really hoping we would see the Espinas Rare Species come in because his massive floor is lava attacks just scream Wirebugs. I was truthfully disappointed by Violet Mizu because it wasn't the Thunderbubble from Explore but bore BASICALLY the exact same color scheme whilst being a beefed up rehash of the Soulseer fight. I think a Rare Species Mizu could have been Capcom's opportunity to showcase the true power of the Water element because, honestly, they don't do enough with it in my opinion. If Espinas continues to appear in games later, here's hoping the Rare Species comes along for the ride in the future. Again, great video. Looking forward to more!
A bit of a later reply, but I have to be honestly, I feel that frontier made a ton of amazing designs especially for the engine and design trends of older monster hunter games. When I see people like UHC just shrugging and saying that the majority of frontier’s concepts are shit is kinda disheartening cause these same doubts keep jagras as tame as it is when this massive lizard that competes with and is thus killed by anja should get the respect it deserved in the world though to be fair hard to fight hunters when you rely on size for defence (as seen in greatest jagras). Seeing these monsters really remind me that monster hunter is capable of having some banger fights that don’t ignore the world it just takes effort (like espinas in rise it is done well there for a game less focused on the world and more on fights)
The dismissal of Frontier Monsters, I think, is pretty ill founded and born predominantly of ignorance. They’re really just Monster Hunter monsters. Maybe with a minute lean more towards combat than ecology but that’s more a symptom of Frontier’s design than anything. I think just about every single monster in Frontier could be salvaged, repurposed, reinterpreted, flushed out, and would fit into mainline Monster Hunter games. Most of these guys really don’t even need all that much work conceptually. There are several well put together, ecologically interesting, biologically creative, and well conceived creatures that are mildly held back by graphical restrictions and a game that cares a bit more about fighting than some of its contemporaries. I might make a video about this topic sometime soon.
First Just Finished the Video. This is a Really Well-made video, You did a Good Job! I really like the designs of the Season 1- early 3 monsters from Frontier. It's Obvious the Ethos came from Aesthetics of the concept art designs that they did for the Earlier monsters for the mainline game that you can see from the MH Illustration Vol.1 ,or atleast that's what they were going for in designing the monsters of early frontier.
For the fish duo, they could work biologically like Ibushi and Narwa. The gold needs to kill the silver to reproduce amd vice versa. So they fight to steal the others essence to lay eggs but will also team up to get rid of a threat that could kill their potential "mate" before they can.
I honestly always like frontier's monsters. they're more extravagant and almost high-fantasy-esque. looking forward to seeing more of them in the mainline games.
Hmmm, now that MH has gone *truly* mainstream, I wonder if a new Frontier could take off. Just imagine, while we're waiting for the newest game, and we get a freaking Frontier sequel. An exciting thought, imo
Honestly, I used to be one of those veterans that disliked Frontier because of the wacky design decisions and used to make fun of the monsters, Espinas especially. When Rise came out, I actually decided to play Frontier and Espinas has been my favourite monster since, so I was quite ecstatic to see the sleepy bastard come out in Rise. I'm glad I was wrong, despite Frontier's hardship I had a lot of fun.
The monster that absolutely has to be in a new game is Guanzorumu. The Emporer conquerer dragon. Leader of the Egyrasu. And the loudest roar in monster hunter. And absolute powerhouse of a monster
This video popped up in my recommended after i binged a lot of other monster hunter creators and i gotta say, you deserve a lot more recognition! your writing and editing are pretty good
Oye just done watching your video, it's honestly a really well built and written video, felt like it went by reaaally fast and I really enjoyed it throughout. Even doe I played frontier a shit ton (and still am) I did learn a few mechanics and a lot of lore about the monsters. Also thanks for including some of my footage in your video :) Can't wait for the next part
I kinda wish we got Pariapuria in main line but reclassified as a Piscine Wyvern. Piscines are kinda stuck in the Plesioth design space for whatever reason. In real life fish are crazy varied and the gluttony of Pariapuria is also fitting for fish. The fact it uses the pseudo-wyvern model doesn't even cause problems with its inclusion since there are fish that use their pectoral fins to walk.
I dunno if I need Pariapuria specifically changed but I more than agree with the sentiment that the Piscine wyverns have a ton of untapped potential and they should work to untether them from neutered flying wyverns
i’m honestly only expecting one maybe two frontier monsters per title (including DLC) if at all, for gen 6 as a whole also here’s hoping the mhs1 original monsters (the pietrus) appear in mainline games someday, mhs1 introduced me to the series and to date they are my fave two monsters
Abiorugu with its small stature and (if added) focus on speed could end up making it the longsword or dual blades to Glavenus's greatsword. Definitely agree that they would make a fine addition
I feel like HC and Supremacy monsters can be reworked pretty easily into Hyper, Apex, and EX monsters from MHGU and Rise. They're not the exact same thing, but close enough. There's always going to be late game versions of low/mid-tier monsters to keep things relatively interesting. As for the monsters themselves, I'd be down to hunt just about anything lol.
awsome video, tho one slight nit pick pariapuria isn't based on a fish but rather an amphibian, specifically the axolotl based on some of the concept art we have of him.
This batch of monsters are some of my favorites weather it be from just looking at them and how they fight to actually fighting and get my butt handed to me on a silver platter. Even then they make me smile more than I have any right to. Even the ones that don't have the best designs and fights are still cool in concept. Past that the supremecy monsters, origin species, Burst species, zeniths, and the Extreme Individuals or Muosu monsters holds a big chunk of my memory being additions to the already amazing monster lineup frontier has makes it the most memorable game I have ever played. And will stick likely stick with me even after I pass on.
23:19 since fighting Pariapuria in high rank their are a few details that either you did not know or didn't say. One is that if you dont attack him while he is full he will not vomit up the food. Two is that his vomit applys a super stench which makes you act drunk until you wear out your stamina.
Around 36:21 makes me remember. I desperately want ice monsters in volcanos and fire monsters in the snow based on the fact of them doing it to balance their temperature.
@CR-Volcanic I've been wanting a monster that's doing what nerscylla did in the volcanic hollow. Give us a monster who's tearing down the trees and making giant bonfires and mixes snow with charcoal then blows it up. But I've not been too sure on an ice monster in a fire zone save for elders. Like. No ice monsters really make the ice themselves. I think Lunagaron and Velkhana are basically it? We really need a rehaul to ice mons.
not gonna lie the anime rivalry between two walking fish is the funniest thing I've heard about for a boss
Yeah

this is what is missing from modern gaming imo, these types of rumors and urban legends like bigfoot in gta san andreas, or the haunted tumbleweed mansion in red dead redemption, and of course the super rathian. nowadays, datamining ruins any kind of mystery in a game and these types of urban legends just aren't possible anymore
Where can I read up on this story? I can't find it anywhere on google...

Silver Hypnocatrice - 1:26:47
White Espinas - 1:27:27
Violent Laviente - 1:28:03
Also gonna post my thoughts on ‘em all while I’m here
*Lavasioth, Hypnocatrice, and Espinas* are all great, love ‘em
*Akura Vashimu* is really cool but I do feel like the whole tail severing process would be too complicated for a mainline game, I feel like if they do implement Vashimu they should just let the tail be cut without all the extra stuff. The other blood mechanics I could go either way on. I think its crystal ailment is cool, could be a good excuse to bring back cleansers
*Akura Jebia* is also rad, basically anything I said for Vashimu that also applies to Jebia carries over here
*Berukyurosu* is rad, I don’t really see anything I’d wanna change about it if it were ported over
*Pariapuria* is very interesting, the saliva mechanic might be just a little bit much but otherwise a cool monster. I think it’d be interesting if maybe the rock spit changed from stunning to causing ailments based on the food it’s eating, too
*The Orugarons* are also very cool, would like to see ‘em for sure
*Laviente* is amazing. It or one of its subspecies should _definitely_ make it into a mainline game
*Dhuragaua* is neat, personally I don’t _love_ the color palette but it could def grow on me
*Doragyurosu* I can’t say much about since I’m not really sure how the movesets of Beru and Dora differ. I like how it looks, though I agree the white fur changing to orange is kinda wacky. I feel maybe a dark red would work better or just scrapping the color-changing aspect altogether
*Gurenzeburu* is great. The only thing I’d wanna see changed is maybe just making the weather stormy whenever it’s around or maybe just when it’s enraged, but otherwise really good really unique monster
*Rukodiora* is phenomenal, absolutely fantastic. I love the siege weapon idea
*Unknown* has a really good concept but I agree that modelling it after the Raths kinda sucks. Would love to see it return with a unique model though. I also agree it prob needs a proper name
*Gogomoa* is incredibly unique and I’d love to see it in a mainline game. I don’t even think you’d have to change anything about it, it looks like it’d just work
*Abiorugu,* though it may seem redundant cuz of Glavenus at first glance, I feel would be a great addition. The way it looks and fights is different from really any other monster I can think of
*Taikun Zamuza's* armor mechanic rocks. The only thing that doesn’t sit right with me is its final form, it just kinda feels like a completely different monster, in a bad way. Def wouldn’t mind it being a separate monster though
*Kuarusepusu* is another fantastic monster. Love everything about it, bring it back
*The metal fish* have a really interesting gimmick and are def funny but I do feel like in execution they are a little wacky. Them picking eachother up sounds annoying as hell
*Odibatorasu* is awesome. I love the idea of having a third Colored God and its moveset looks amazing
*HC and Supremacy monsters* will probably find their way into an Apex, Tempered, etc. kind of form
*Breeding Season Hypnocatrice* would be really cool if they gave it its HC moveset
*Red Lavasioth,* from what I can tell, might not be worth it. I don’t really know what it can do, though, so ‘\_(‘-’)_/’
*Flaming Espinas* is great, love it
*Silver Hypnocatrice* _could_ become something special, but from what I can tell it isn’t anything interesting
*White Espinas* sounds great as is, bring it back
*Violent Laviente* seems cool enough. I agree the color palette is a downgrade but I don’t hate it. Not really sure if it’s worth a spot though, especially since I don’t know much about Berserk, but maybe with some tweaks to make it a bit more unique it could be great
I actually really appreciate that, I shoulda done that myself lmao
God bless you my dude
@@cr-volcanic Yeah you should
Thx🎉
The moment i saw Espinas in sunbreak my mind was like What.
I was shocked and they made him cool
Seeing him in that trailer blew my fucking mind
@@cr-volcanic I know he is one of my favorite monsters. I even consider him as a Fighter if Capcim makes thier own Smash bros
The reason why the Guild has such a problem with Unknown is that despite it being based on Rathian, the monster itself is a huge middle finger to any and all knowledge about the Rath species and heck, even non-elder monsters in general.
Guild: looks like a rathian but the bitch fights like a damn fatalis on crack... Where the fuck do we start?
It's the Beast of Darkness from Berserk, if it had managed to possess a Rathian
I'm actually upset this video is over now. lol
If you need more give MH Generations Ultimate a try. You can get it for like $20 on the switch.
I'm so glad to be able to play it and experience it
Big AoE explosions? You mean Sunbreak?
Shantien's one of the first one's I distinctly remember too
I did not realize how many cool monsters frontier has. I think my favorites that I would like to see in mainline would be the akura vashimu, pariapuria, and rukodiora. I haven't played any of the monster hunter games before World (mostly due too a combination of access, age, and not having heard of MH before World). I also did not attempt to
Akura Vashimu - I really like scorpions and and crystal themed monsters making this monster just super cool in my mind.
I recently got Frontier running on a private server and seeing all these unique monsters in there debut game makes me want so see them in 5th gen even more
I really wanna see how their designs and AI would be improved in a game like World
howd you get it running if you dont mind me asking?

This is a wonderful way for honor these monsters and I actually find it funny how we share pretty much the same thoughts with the ratings for these monsters too. When I was younger I would look at the mh wiki fascinated at all the creatures in frontier and this video strangely welled up that feeling of nostalgia for me. Well done on such a fantastic and passionate video my fellow hunter!
Really appreciate it. Thanks man
I also looked at the MH wiki a ton back in the day. Every monster in this video was met with a "Oh hey, it's this monster!"
Considering the first trailer for wilds showed off the changing weather and the lighting storm striking the smaller monsters I think weather based monsters like Kuarusepusu actually have a decent chance of making it in.
What an amazing job youve done with this video, it really documents the monsters and behavior each have in frontier, pls continue with this series i loved it
Absolutely gonna be continuing, just need a little break from making hour and a half long videos lmao
Obviously Unknown is just Razewing Rathi
Guanzorumu is an incredible monster that really needs to return. King Dragon that commands small wyverns and has a king’s cloak for wings. Yes please.
Facts
YES!!! GUANZORUMU STANS UNITE!!!
Absolutely agreed.
Just saw Guanzorumu for the first time ever. I love that “crown” he’s got, and the wings look incredible like you said.
He's more like a chinese conqueror in dragon form. "Guan" almost always is a reference to Guan Yu
Very happy to hear that bud! Maybe some opportunity to chat will come up at some point, really glad you enjoyed the video
I really am hoping we get Akura Vashimu. With the desert theme of wilds, he would fit in nicely.
I think, all the wonderful and interesting monsters aside, the most this series of going bsck to look through Frontier's monsters has taught me is that I really, really want to he able to hunt with a little flying wyvern pal by my side. Those guys would also be a wonderful edition!
Great Work! Looking forward to the rest of the series
So i feel like anythings possible
future's looking real damn bright man. The big struggle is speculating responsibly about what 6 is gonna do. lmao
@@cr-volcanic im so freakin excited. New gens always bring some crazy changes i cant wait to see what direction they head in

Fantastic video! I eagerly look forward to the next installment of the series

I dunno if that's official lore but I have heard some stuff like that.
From this video alone, I'm trying to set up frontier for myself. These all sound amazing.
Making this video made me wanna play it too, just dont have the hardware for it atm. I totally get that
@@cr-volcanic True.
Great video so far and looking forward to watching the rest of this video series as they come out!
your videos make me motivated to work this type of thing too so thanks dude! plus I'm praying for Taikun Zamuza to get in next game
Happy to hear it man! Right on!

Appreciate the insight
I enjoyed this video, well done putting a spotlight onto these old monsters.
This video is still godly, got me back into playing Frontier recently lol. An amazing listen while at work right now, and part 2.
Thank you!
Let’s hope that changes soon!
Really enjoyed this. Not often I watch a video this long from start to end. nice work!
Frontier monsters have been in mainline for a while since freedom unite with laviosoth and hypnocatrice.
Fantastic video man! I would love to see Shantien in a future mainline game.
I feel like the Akura's could play well with the proper introduction of Explore monsters like Nef-Garmat.
Cheers
Really appreciate that man, really glad people enjoyed this project so far
Fantastic video. I like how in-depth you went with these’s monsters. I hope you do Online and Explore justice. There’s a channel all about Explore but nobody knows about it and nobody talks about Online in-depth.
Online I definitely know the least about, especially as a game but it does have some cool stuff. I am very excited about Explore, it may have had a lot of limitations as a mobile game, but it’s monster concepts are surprisingly immaculate
Yeah there’s a lot of stuff in Online that nobody talks about like the music. Have you heard of the Monster Hunter Explore Spotlight channel?
@@nightbladex6929 don’t think so
the way you speak and present yourself reminds me a lot of chuggaconroy - very easy to listen to. great video!
I know you said that you don't like how Violent Raviente's colour palette looks, but that's kind of the point. It's starving to death. Its scales have lost their colours and luster from the lack of nutrients.
I can respect the context but that won’t change that I personally think the palette looks inferior. Just my preference
The idea that it has counterplay for every weapon type is unique, and the suicide when it suspects capture is downright evil.
giga good video, will watch the others too
This is phenomenal looking forward to all videos!! Heck ya bro!!! Exciting things are coming in monster hunter
Never got to play Frontier but I always love learning about new monsters.
Some really fuckin good ones in this game.
You can play Frontier
it's been playable for like a year and a half almost
Amatsu eat your heart out.
you are incredibly undersubbed, this video was amazing and helped me realize how much frontier had to offer. you clearly show a passion for this game, not just with the amount of effort this video took, but with how much you talked about every single monster and how much you showed each and everyone. good video!
Ha! well thank you, I appreciate that, but this channel is only 4 months old so I'm very happy with the sub count I have so far
I can very much see at least Supremacy Pariapuria returning as a variant in a mainline game. It fits the bill for that category perfectly.
Yo it was hard trying to remember his name but KUARUSEPUSU'S THEME GOES SO HAARRRD

Congrats
I started with MHW and I’m subscribed to the channel you mentioned. That video got me feenin to say the list this is much appreciated
For the fish duo, they could work biologically like Ibushi and Narwa. The gold needs to kill the silver to reproduce amd vice versa. So they fight to steal the others essence to lay eggs but will also team up to get rid of a threat that could kill their potential "mate" before they can.
my absolute favorite frontier monster is guanzorumu an elder dragon that basically can use conquerors haki
Spoiler for the next video in this series, Guanzorumu is going to be a very highly ranked monster by me
Imma need those two fish now idc how much money I need to pay
taikun zamusa my beloved
I honestly always like frontier's monsters. they're more extravagant and almost high-fantasy-esque. looking forward to seeing more of them in the mainline games.
Hmmm, now that MH has gone *truly* mainstream, I wonder if a new Frontier could take off.
Just imagine, while we're waiting for the newest game, and we get a freaking Frontier sequel. An exciting thought, imo
I would say there's definitely a non-zero chance of that, and if they did, it would almost definitely get a world-wide release
your enthusiasm for the monsters really comes through and it’s very nice to watch :)
No shame, I was one of those people too for a bit
The monster that absolutely has to be in a new game is Guanzorumu. The Emporer conquerer dragon.
Leader of the Egyrasu. And the loudest roar in monster hunter.
And absolute powerhouse of a monster
Trust. I am very VERY excited to talk about Guanzorumu
Trust. I am very VERY excited to talk about Guanzorumu
This video popped up in my recommended after i binged a lot of other monster hunter creators and i gotta say, you deserve a lot more recognition! your writing and editing are pretty good
Thank you! Still improving. The recognition will come in time, im still growing. Hope ya stick around.
Oye just done watching your video, it's honestly a really well built and written video, felt like it went by reaaally fast and I really enjoyed it throughout. Even doe I played frontier a shit ton (and still am) I did learn a few mechanics and a lot of lore about the monsters. Also thanks for including some of my footage in your video :)
Can't wait for the next part
oi i wasn't there at the end but ehhh i hardly post videos
I like the idea of the Unknown as a mutated, disfigured, or even intersex version of the Raths.
It certainly possesses features and characteristics of both Rathian and Rathalos
I feel happy to be part of the first 1k of subscribers
Very happy to have ya!
Me too 😎
with wilds being deserty, i wouldn't be surprised if korovashimu shows up
i love that the unknown has the rathian type look
I came here to learn about Burukku and I instead got sucked into learning about everything besides Burukku. I love it.
fantastic vid
i look forward for more
Awesome video! Super excited to see the next one!
Just got a hot pocket ready to watch this whooole video
Cultured as fuck.
i’m honestly only expecting one maybe two frontier monsters per title (including DLC) if at all, for gen 6 as a whole
also here’s hoping the mhs1 original monsters (the pietrus) appear in mainline games someday, mhs1 introduced me to the series and to date they are my fave two monsters
Abiorugu with its small stature and (if added) focus on speed could end up making it the longsword or dual blades to Glavenus's greatsword. Definitely agree that they would make a fine addition
There's definitely ways to differentiate them
A bit late to comment but your an absolute saint for including all the background music in the description!
Never too late to comment
Bro playing it right now
Frontier devs COOKED
I feel like HC and Supremacy monsters can be reworked pretty easily into Hyper, Apex, and EX monsters from MHGU and Rise. They're not the exact same thing, but close enough. There's always going to be late game versions of low/mid-tier monsters to keep things relatively interesting. As for the monsters themselves, I'd be down to hunt just about anything lol.
There’s definitely potential for it
awsome video, tho one slight nit pick pariapuria isn't based on a fish but rather an amphibian, specifically the axolotl based on some of the concept art we have of him.
Thanks for pointing it out
Would love to see Nefu Garumudo from MH Explore in a mainstream game too. New element: Earth
We’re overdue for a new element ngl
It’d be pretty sick to see a monster in an ice environment that produces fire to stay alive and vice versa
I honestly hope it's at least one defunct game monster and one defunct elder dragon level for every game going forward
Absolutely better than nothing
"Ice monsters are locked into one area."
I don't think Banbaro got the message.
No disrespect though I get what you mean.
Banbaro isn't an Ice monster. It's elements depend on the map he's in. Ice element isn't inherent of his biology.
