Anyone that's ever felt unable to love someone new because of someone from the past and their destructive behavior that comes along with it knows exactly what this song is about.
Capturing these many emotions in one song is a very rare thing, one of the only songs that i ever have heard that had me feel even more emotions was Kendrick lamar's "u" from his album to pimp a butterfly.

Joji is such a powerful musician, had this on repeat ever since it's drop, hands down one of THE best musicians of all time,, i recommend for you to listen to Once In A While by Green Echo (duo of Rei Brown & Joji), it's such an old and underrated song.
I mean… I love Joji, but “one of THE best musicians of all time” is a huge exaggeration… maybe one of the best when it comes to this style of music though.
