Usually a engine needs a solid 2 minutes to get stable and running after the master switch is turned on. After that your engine is good to go and is able to go to full thrust right away :)

I offered my service for three years at Kenya Airways as cabin crew, and man, management always emphasized top-notch service and a clean product. sadly due to the pandemic, I was laid off, just in time to grab a new opportunity at my home airline, Uganda airlines... Hope to have you on board our A330-800NEO, when it launches into service, sometime next year.

I travel frequently to Kenya from UK, My first flight with Kenya Airways (KQ) was 1985, The service was not too great, However, after A break of several Years and using other Airlines, I went back to KQ. From then I've never looked back,
The minute you board the Aircraft- you're greeted with the Crews warm kind hospitality, great customer service. You immediately feel you've arrived in Africa, I agree with Josh the cabin and Aircraft is spotless! A great Airline who I always like to support.

Last time I flew KQ was back in 2019 from Nairobi to New York. I believe I was coming from Narita and was supposed to connect from LHR to New York. The plane that brought me to Heathrow experienced some mechanical problems so there was a delay. What happened when we got to LHR, I don’t even want to recollect. In short, it ended with me being booted off the flight that left me and marked as a no-show, so I couldn’t make a claim. So, I booked KQ from London to Nairobi and eventually to New York (the money I was paying for BA premium economy was equal to the money I ended up having to pay for KQ business class from Nairobi to New York). The crew was awesome, food was nice and I liked the seats and I have to say if I’m ever given the choice again, KQ will be my go to.

Sick review as always Mr. Cahill. Really appreciate you putting the airline quality under the microscope for us. As for the engines and coming from a flight sim perspective, as long as N1 and N2 rotation speeds are stable at idle they are ready to go straight to TOGA (take off/go around) power, keeping an eye on those temperature and pressure indicators of course. There is a great TH-camr called flightdeck2sim who is a real life 737 pilot who streams flightsim and he goes into great detail. I really recommend his channel if you're interested. Thanks again and keep up the great work.

Hi Josh. Normally as long as it’s not too cold and the airfield isn’t at a high altitude as soon as the engines are on they’re good to go. Just prior to take off the engines will go from 20% max rpm to between 40% - 55% max rpm and that’s a good enough warm up for takeoff and cruise power.

Most commercial aircraft use turbofan engines, these engine compressors air up to 40x the pressure of normal air suitable to ignition for trust, roughly 2 mins is suitable to reach this condition,
Initaily the engine starts up by the low pressure turbine that leads to engine trust cycle,

Aircraft engines are slightly different to car engines... many have heated oil reservoirs etc.
One the engine is at idle, as long as the T’s and P’s (temperatures and pressures) are within range the engine can be throttled up to approx 100-106% for getting off the ground.
Similar to a turbo shaft engine on a helicopter 😊

I can tell you that an A320 CFM engine will need 3min to get to a temperature which enables it to take off if it was switched off for more than 6hours before. If you are having a turn around or less than 6 hours since the last high thrust operation there is no time limitation. Nevertheless it is recommended to account for 3 minutes to let it heat up in all cases. bare in mind that 3min will in most cases bring you to the runway. it's rare to to it in less than 3min.

Very nice reports. You must try "real flying", though. Go for some Northern Norway flying with Widerøe. DASH 8 and Embraer 190 E2. They use the Embraer mostly on European flights, and never on the short field airports up north. The DASH flights are the most fun in my opinion. Those are mostly used on short flights, and widely used on short fields. In the winter time up north it can get thoroughly entertaining with the DASH. And the catering is for the most part a little chocolate chip. LOL! But Widerøe is a very personal regional airline and famous for their great service and genuine staff. You look like a million dollars by the way. A bit off scope that one, I´m so sorry, ha ha. :-) LOL. Keep up the good work, cabin clear.
