Josh Cahill: Hi from Melbourne Australia. Qantas has grounded a number of there Boeing 737 NG fleet after finding cracking on one of them. Obviously you would have heard. Safety first 👍👍. Im very proud of our Airline history, bit of a bummer for them.
BTW that guy was exactly as you said an a....hole. He was probably annoyed with the delays etc, but absolutely no excuse for his behavior and manner. Honestly he ruined not only your flight but the work you do to bring us a great review of!! I was totally distracted all the way through this video by him. Will go back and watch again and try not to be distracted so l can enjoy the parts of the hard product l missed.
Well done for keeping your cool with him.👍😑

I'm a pilot and I turn my landing lights off if I'm flying through clouds or fog, It makes it easier to see the runway that way because you would be lighting up the fog or cloud right in front of you, Another reason for lights off could be to reduce disturbances to people that live near the runway threshold IIIIII IIIIIII

I flew Royal Nepal Airlines from Patna to Kathmandu in 1982-- almost 40 years ago. What a difference! It was a 15 seater prop plane that barely made it over the foothills. Seriously, you could practically reach down and touch the trees.

I flew in the USAF for 7 1/2 years and then Delta for 20. When below FL180 (18,000') all exterior lights are on, day or night. When in and out of clouds the landing lights may be turned off to reduce visual distraction and on very low vis approaches they may be turned off until the approach lights are in sight. The landing lights, wing illumination (leading edge lights for the Lockheed guys), nacelle lights (think MD-80) and runway turnoff lights are all on. It's not procedural but 99% of pilots turn on the taxi light when cleared to land. It's a good reminder and it's usually on the nosegear and useless with the gear retracted. So Josh Cahill, I'm afraid I have no answer for the blacked out landing. It makes sense in some military operations to keep the bad guys from seeing you easily.

I'm not a pilot but could it be due to a precaution just in case an emergency happens and an evacuation is needed? With a blacked out landing, the eyes would already be adapted to the dark and would make it easier if an evacuation is needed.

I have flown BA Premium and Business Class twice a year for the past twenty five years, and more. They would never allow a passenger to remove his footware like this. Its unheard of, their principle task is flight safety and passenger comfort. All you would have to do is go back to the galley and have a word with one of the flight attendants. They would deal with it promptly, without causing any anxiety to anyone. I gave flown Royal Nepal Airlines, I think you should of at least asked the flight attendant to see how they may have dealt with it. It is a common courtesy not to remove footware. Your neighbouring passenger I think has done this on purpose because he doesn't like you filming. You may have misunderstood his acceptance. He may have misunderstood your request.

The landing lights are usually off after landing and taxi lights are used instead. Commercial transport with passangers are obliged to use landing lights. Landing lights typically are installed behind a fresnel lense shaped glass in order to straighten the beam. This makes it hard sometimes to see the wing root landing lights reflecting on the engine hull. The more recent LED lights even have a more focussed beam.

I am a native of Nepal and an avid traveler. I have made a few observations over the course of years about international flying:
    1. On the last leg of your journey, you will notice that the plane is full of the natives of the country you are going to, and those natives are usually noisy, overexcited, or simply feel over-entitled and behave accordingly.
    2. The airlines usually staff the crew with people from those countries for the sake of convenience in communication and those crewmembers deal with their natives in a no-nonsense manner.
I have heard Indian crewmembers aboard United flights to New Delhi even yell at unruly Indian passengers.
    3. The native crewmembers tend to treat foreigners, especially from western countries, with more courtesy than their native passengers.
    4. If the air route goes from a rich country to a poor country, the planes are usually watered down in amenities and services. On the planes that served CAN to KTM, China Southern used to have headphones that looked and felt like stethoscopes, probably to avoid passengers taking them home with them.
    5. Deportees do not get to drink alcohol on their flight home.
    Exceptions may apply.

What you are calling stethoscopes were actually widely used in past. Even on Indian airlines. In those days afaik there was only radio to listen to no tv. it must be 20+ years back. Then even when budget airlines started in India they also had these type of cheap earphones then they gave cheap chinese budget clip on ear headphones. Yes they were such so that it doesn't caused losses to airlines as price was included.

It’s amazing what rudeness is out there. Thank you for the interesting look into the airplane. Very fascinating. Anyway, this reminds me of a situation I encountered on a Lufthansa flight in Frankfurt to Boston, on my way hone from Florence Italy. The flight was wonderful but because of weather my first flight got delayed. But then they called all connecting flights so they would wait for the passengers to arrive before taking off. How awesome is that? Then I get to Frankfurt and my terminal and come to find out, there was a delay because there was a fuel pump issue with the plane I was going to get on. Big delay about five hours or so. Lots of people were getting pissy about it but I said that we were better off on the ground than in a plane with mechanical issues, flying over the Atlantic . A small group agreed with me and we were grateful to be safe on the ground. Then I did a bit of window shopping at the shops and got my mom some fine chocolates while I was there. Oh well, it was fun all the same. That’s what really counts.

@@lcfflc3887 I suppose you’re right. I’ve got a family member who has the same mentality as this guy but she’s not a bad person, just not a good personality. Some good people are like that. They don’t mean to come across that way but they do. Fortunately for me, I’m easy going when it comes to situations that I can’t control. My experience was one of those things but I made a fun time of it, poking in all the gift shops and duty free shops around my terminal. Even got myself a snack to tide me over until I got home. That particular day, it was bad weather that held back my first flight out of Florence and to my surprise, Lufthansa had already contacted my connecting flight to notify them of the delay, so they were waiting for us without having to do anything. How good is that? Then when I got there my flight was delayed a couple of hours due to the fact that the jet I was supposed to be on had that defect in the fuel pump. Definitely no rush to get there and people were complaining but I defused that by mentioning that we were actually much safer where we were than if something were to go wrong mid flight. From Frankfurt to Boston it’s nothing but open ocean so you can imagine what would’ve happened if we took the defective jet. A whole group of people smiled my way and said I was absolutely right . We were safer where we were.

Delays are normal in aviation industry, they keep us alive. Aviation industry is highly competitive and clients demand lower prices wille keeping highest safety standard, delays will occur with planes flying non stop. Weather or calamities (like volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, etc.) related delays are unavoidable. You will see private jets having much less traffic, technical and crew related delays but they tend to be quite spendy. If you are provided with a decent place to wait and noone is taking advantage of your situation by overcharging you for food or water there is no reason to have a meltdown. No-one has anything to gain by delaying your plane, many times crews are paid for flight hours.

This is what I like about Josh's reviews. He gives a very "authentic" "hands on deck" kinda reviews, which us, the travelers would actually experience. I am a new subscriber to his channel and his authentic reviews is what drove me here. Josh gives us our own perspective of experiencing delays, long layovers, asshole passengers etc...which even we have experienced ourselves. Before Josh, I used to watch a lot of reviews by Sam Chui. Till date, I have NEVER seen Sam experiencing a delay, an asshole passenger sitting next to him, a long layover etc. His reviews, although good, looks quite "staged". Like if the airlines are expecting him to be on board...so they make sure to fly out on time, give him the best "asshole free" seat etc etc. In all aspect, I found Josh a hundred times better than Sam, as his reviews are authentic and he shows exactly what we experience while traveling. Awesome work Josh and Godspeed to you for the future! Glad you keep coming to my home country (India). Next please try and fly the Dornier Do.228 of Sita Airlines to Lukla Airport, Nepal. I had funny experience flying from Bangkok to Kathmandu in 1979. Ahead of me when leaving Bangkok and going through customs were three young Nepali men who opened their briefcases for inspection filled with what looked like makeup and perfume samples. The young lady at the airport just glanced at the contents and let them through. It appeared strange to me.
Upon arrival in Kathmandu before going through customs I had to use the washroom. Inside there were those same three men handing off packages to the custodian who took the neatly wraped bundles and left the area.
Northern Thailand was the worlds centre for heroin back then in an area known as the Golden Triangle. I used to witness so many people smuggling in those days it amazed me how gutsy they were.

He tought one of my cousin too...
One of my cousin went to Nepal to study there. She showed my the face of her teacher and said that he was annoying. One day, he also stand next to my cousin for a few minutes which makes her uncomfortable. But now my cousin has already graduated she doesn't have to worry about that man ever again.

If I were looking forward to a pleasant business class flight and was put next to that guy, I'd be spewing. Luckyily I've never been able to afford business class.

Dude I doubt about that Nepal people are manner less and am sure that person is Indian, there was one incident when I was travelling with my friends and we were in New Delhi that time and the way they were looking towards my female friends was really disgusting one can really tell by looking at their eyes if they are just look at us as tourist or for some other disgusting things.

Did anyone else see the bird fly in at 2:03? Hilarious that Josh referenced the plane as a bird earlier.
