    Hello, this is Hoss Benham's cousin. He was born a happy baby and represented a sort of sunshine in my family. He died on his birthday and everyday I see my aunt (mother's mother) suffering over this child. Thank you so much for speaking about this, I can't believe I didn't find this until now. You did an amazing job covering him.

    I really don’t understand how this happens. I feel like my need to protect my children is instinctual, ingrained. What is wrong with these people? How is that drive to protect your offspring ignored to such a horrific extent?
    Hoss deserved so much better, so much more. He didn’t understand why this was happening but he understood fear, pain and a longing for comfort. I hope he is at peace now.
    His parents deserve the worst of fates.

      No matter how many of these stories I cover, I don't think I'll ever understand how someone's mind could descend into such depths and shed all semblance of humanity like this.

    It always makes me cry hearing about the things they liked. Especially cartoons and toys and the like. For cartoons I always try and watch a segment of them and it just breaks my heart thinking that this show was possibly one of the only parts of happiness they may have had in their short lives. It’s just such an innocent thing.

      That's so sweet, watching their show and putting yourself into their shoes! I love including details about who the kids were and what they were like. I think it's so important to remember those things!

    People who’ve hurt babies (children) should NEVER be given a reduced sentence..Dropping charges does not magically change the pain sweet baby Hoss endured.

    Hoss's story is truly sickening. How can anyone even think about doing this to a defenseless, innocent baby? The injuries revealed by the autopsy are just unphatomable. I don't think I ever read a child abuse death story in wich a 1 one year old has 38 blunt force trauma injuries. They should never be released for what they put this poor baby through.

    I usually don’t comment but my blood is boiling and I am at a lost for words at the huge injustice for this angel. The laws need to be updated as time goes on. It should be prohibited for prosecutors to make these kind of deals with these corrupt and disgusting kind of people. They didn’t even openly or publicly explained what they did to this child. How do they get away with just pleading guilty and getting a deal without openly acknowledging what the hell they did to the baby. This is not justice in anyway shape or form!

    • @SuffertheLittleChildrenPodcast
      @SuffertheLittleChildrenPodcast  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree; this was definitely not justice, and my heart aches for Hoss's family. I imagine the plea deal had something to do with the length of time the case was dragging on, but I'm sure the family would have preferred waiting another few years for true justice than rushing to get the case out of the courts with paltry sentences like these -- and no accountability for the killers!

      Many of these abused kids who do survive grow up to become the adults you then accuse of hurting people.
      You’re on their side until they’re 18, then no discussion about helping those kids transition to functional adults.
      The kids you are rabidly trying to defend often grow into the same adults you’re trying to demonize.
      Explain that

    • @letoofdelos565
      @letoofdelos565 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @BeckBeckGo as an abused child, yes. After everything those men did to me and how deeply broken I am today, I managed to never hurt a child. Despite how painful and difficult it is, I go to therapy. I take medication. I do my self care. Most days, I manage. I did not choose to be an abused child, but I CHOSE to be better than those who hurt me.
      Jeff was responsible for his own mental health and his own actions. He was an abused child, but he CHOSE to be even worse than those who abused him. He abused his son in every way manageable, and because of him, a baby is dead. He's lost my sympathy. I gave it all to Hoss.

    This story is absolutely sickening. 😩
    Unrelated to the story, another reason to not do balloon releases is at least 6% of the population is allergic to latex and some of those folks, like me, could die if near a balloon release. Latex proteins are airborne, so I don't need to touch a balloon or balloon particles to have a reaction.

      I have not heard the whole segment yet, but I often wonder, especially in the cases of babies and children that are murdered/abused/neglected etc, most times, after the child has died, family and friends come out of the woodwork saying how wonderful the child was and how loved the child was etc….I often think to myself how this could happen if the children had so many that loved them and were willing to take the child in….. of course it is not cut and dry and not that “simple”, but there is nothing that would come between me and protecting my child. Period. I can say that for certain. No man, friend, job, family member etc. when I became a mother, my child became number one-no matter what!

Including the children that I love more than anything on this earth, Hoss could still make the top 8. Ho-ly shit that’s an adorable baby. I can’t imagine looking at him and having any other instinct other than “Protect that tiny man at all costs.” It’s inconceivable.

  • @jenifergarrett6752
    @jenifergarrett6752 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I keep coming back to this today. We are always asking what did the mother do, why was the mother with that man... I found myself in a similar situation and yeah, I immediately left when I even questioned that my kids might be being hurt- maybe so, maybe not - but just the question alone was enough for me to take them and sleep on the street. We went to shelters without "luck". The story could be long with details but to shorten it, I called their dad and explained the situation- he told me to figure it out, continued to never pay support, and blocked my number and FB profile. Where are the dad's? The very ones that named these babies...the ones happy enough to offer protection while mom was with them but gone when she's not. We have to start holding BOTH parents equally accountable for the safety and wellbeing of these babies. Wasn't dad right there in the same living area? Didn't he also know this neighbor and have questions? Mom is disgusting and a waste of flesh but why aren't the father's equally disgusting for not also ensuring some sort of protection for their children- children they were all too happy to name after their favorite actors. I listen to these stories and mom's that act for their children are deemed heroic while father's that neither act or protect or dismissed. Father's are technically supposed to be protectors and mom's nurturing. There are women like this that want to just please a trash bag man but some are more terrified by the idea of sleeping with a baby behind a dumpster. Don't tell me about resources - it's lies. I've been the mom behind the dumpster because dad couldn't be bothered once we separated. This story in particular- dad named this lil guy. Where was he?

    Everytime I hear what injuries a child had, my brain locks-up. Like I try to envision someone doing that to a child, let alone a toddle, and I just can’t... it’s fucking horrific.
    Look at the photo in the thumb nail. Now imagine a full grown adult punching that defenseless child 38 times, break pretty close to every bone in their body and then burning that child’s feet. I can’t even come close to comprehending what mindset someone needs to have in order to do something like that. It makes no goddamned since. At all. Period. Fucking Christ...

    I absolutely hate when “moms” complain about their bodies being fat after having a baby, I find that shallow. Especially, when they blame the baby, because douchebag dudes won’t find them attractive anymore (than find a better man who isn’t a shallow shithead and pervert). It’s like, what did they expect? Unless, they go to extreme toxic diet (which most do) and have eating disorder to get their body back. I love my daughter, and my after body. And I am proud to birth a baby with my incredible body. I wish women stop thinking they have to be objects to men. Be better.

    I just can’t understand what’s wrong with these people (can anyone?). But I disagree with you when you state “humans are violent animals”. This suggests that those who commit crimes of violence are subject to basic urges and therefore not entirely responsible for their actions. We are not animals - we are a highly evolved species capable of making decisions and choices. We can choose kindness and compassion just as easily as we can choose aggression and anger. Hoss’s mother and her POS “boyfriend” chose to injure and maltreat this defenceless little boy, and I hope they suffer the torments of the damned in prison.

    I detest the fact that ppl seem to need to plaster their lives all over FB . Put time and effort into your childs life,😮 and stop 🛑 playing the victim ~ Wow pathetic ~ Hoss is now w/ others that really love him and God, who called him home to escape those loser caregivers (used the term very loosely) and he will never be harmed again.
    I am not a parent, though babies under one year of age, do require someone to be in the bathroom or bathtub when bathing their child 😓
    Seriously ⁉️⁉️ unless they are not equipped/ abusers, of course
