Why is it so difficult to get accurate information about these products? The Jeld-Wen website has no cut sheets that I saw, and no install instructions for replacement windows in PDF format. This video is 7 years old! Is it even still accurate? All the other replacement window instructions I have seen show the window being installed from the inside, leaving the exterior stop in place. Jeld-Wen shows similar instructions for brickmold/pocket windows but then this exterior install for their "replacement" windows. Is this typical of all Jeld-Wen vinyl replacement windows? All series? What about v2500?
Very disappointed with the double hung window and these instruction are not even correct for the vinyl pocket window. There are no predrilled holes. There are only 4 screws not 6 as the video shows and after putting in the white plastic plugs on the bottom two sides of the window on the inside track where the video shows, the window won’t slide by those. The instructions with the window did not help either! 😬
these "old drafty windows" only contributed 11% or less to energy lost- replacing your window will NOT pay for themselves, not in 30yrs in most cases. Weatherstrip your windows- hire a window restoration specialist- they are plenty out there. Check out the National Window Preservation Standards- these are the facts! old windows are not the problem! Save America's windows, do good by the environment!
Appreciate your encouragement to question "facts" in advertising and marketing material, but I believe a lot of people (like myself) are replacing single pane windows. There are a lot of other reasons to replace windows as well. Coated windows and Low-E windows do help conserve energy, whether or not they 'pay for themselves' is a different matter.
