I can't believe some of those things on that car are options. My five year old Passat GTE Advance has park assist, massage heated and cooled seat, Pan roof, matrix LEDs and sundry other mod cons as standard! A car like this which is supposed to be the flagship of the whole VW range should have them as standard!
On thing I don’t like about PHEV vehicles. Nearly all of them have a smaller fuel tank - to make room for the battery. Which means after about 40 miles, you are driving a powerful, large SUV with a small fuel tank. Not ideal for longer trips.
What are you going to drive then? Most cars are like this now. The few that have physical controls will no doubt go to soft controls - it save manufacturers money.
@@Birmingham_racing it’s smoother than a diesel if you can keep it charged all the time, but if you do really long miles a diesel still makes sense - you’re right though the price is up there!
Mine arrives in a few weeks - did order the exact spec you had in Matte Grey - but they couldn’t guarantee it being built this year!! Ordered it in Feb 24. But they offered me one that has been built in the Lapaz blue - so reluctantly accepted. It’s either a good or bad thing but I simply don’t see many on the road even pre facelift 2018 onwards. Which is what attracted me…X5’s, Q7/8’s and RR’s are everywhere! Looking forward to it.
@@rw3078 Lapiz is nice, especially in the sun! I definitely agree these are a rarer beast than the others, and it has good road presence. I hope you enjoy it!
@@rw3078we got a SEL in 2023 last of the pre facelift 3.0 diesel. It’s amazingly engineered, top quality and great value, and so much better than those chavtastic X5s and Q7s financed from some used car dealership by the barratt home Mafia.

@@wainerollins2587 I definitely had the same thought!
This thing looks amazing! Thanks for the review!!! ✌🏽❤️✊🏽
This is the most Bentley-looking VW yet! Stunning, but they're way too expensive now. Great review as always 😀
@@DylansCarReviews Thanks! The price seems to be the biggest feedback at the moment. Looks great on the road though!
@@ItsDanLatham They've always been expensive. Same for the Tiguan!
Excellent review…
R Badge every year. Love my 2022 R Diesel

@@3204clivesinclair yeah I do feel the same - its great tech but only for a specific use case
Nice car but I will never ever buy a car where I have to fiddle through the entertainment screen to change the climate controls.

Ill be honest, I never knew this variant existed until today
@@CarsofGlasgow can’t say I’ve ever seen one in the wild!
@@ItsDanLatham eyes are peeled for sure! I do miss the old VW days of W8 Passats, R32/R36 and even the wild V10 Touraeg or W12 Phaeton's
@@CarsofGlasgow I spot the occasional phaeton near me still, they are extremely under the radar looking cars
I like them but too expensive for what they are. If I was to buy a suv it would be with a smooth 6 cylinder torquey diesel
