Most people considering this type of car are interested in only two things - reliability and reasonable running costs. Anything else is a bonus. Comments on the lack of a turbo option are pure testers' opinions, not long term owners views - unless you enjoy paying four figure repair bills! My own formula for buying is: four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with a manual gearchange and manual handbrake. This Picanto is my perfect car.
@@ianthomas5955 I understand for many buyers such as yourself this won’t matter. It just seems a really odd decision in the grand scheme of things and a backward step, especially considering you can still get the turbo on the i10. Also regarding repairs, the warranty on these are fantastic so I’d hope any major issues would arise and be resolved within that period, but of course there are buyers who will keep it well beyond that time frame. Trouble is as I mentioned in the video, in built up areas or motorways there are now a lot of exceptionally fast and responsive EV’s, which make this almost dangerously slow. But for a city car that’s just going to potter about town to go to the shops that shouldn’t matter at all. Apologies if that didn’t come across towards the end of the review. Overall I think it’s a charming little thing
Picanto gt line 1.2 84hp or i10 with 67hp? I like i10 better in style but gt line has more power so …but consumes more too i am lost what would you chose and why thanks
@@teahnanc the previous model does have slightly more power across the board and also the option for the 1.0 Turbo engine which was my pick of the range
Kia have killed the Picanto by not offering the Turbo option. There's no doubt about that. Whoever made that decision at Kia should be Sacked, they've lost Kia thousands or maybe millions of potential Picanto buyers worldwide. Its the gaff of the century.
@@davidpickard9393 fair point, but its much nicer quality than it used to be when it was called vinyl. This feels pretty soft and I’m sure could fool some people
Most reviewers comment on the lack of the Turbo engine, but I wonder how many Kia used to sell. If it was that good a seller, I'm sure they would have kept it. Most buyers of this car probably aren't that bothered about the 0-60 time. I'm after one of these and these things don't bother me at all. Dan, you come across very whingey!
@@BadMacs different strokes for different folks. If I just said positive things, people would complain I’m not authentic! I had plenty if praise for other things in the video, and also, it can’t have sold that badly because Hyundai still offer it. Not sure what the answer is, but I doubt the next generation of picanto will have this same engine range personally. I hope you enjoy it, it’s a charming little car!
@@ItsDanLatham Yeah, sorry, I should have also added that it was a good review. I'm after the GT-Line S Auto which seems to get a bad press, but the few videos of of the auto in use make it look okay. I will have a better idea once I take a test drive.
@@BadMacs the auto is quite similar to the ones used in older french cars like the Peugeot 108/citroen c1. Will be fine for pottering around town, but again it’s just a bit of a shame they didn’t go with a more modern solution. The GT Line S is a very good spec for this class of car though, and I think it does look the part!

I'm very happy with my Picanto. I get over 20km per litre which is important for me as I'm on the road all day.
