That’s gotta be one of the worst bonehead moments in NASCAR. Brett spinning his brother out. Geoff would have won the race. This was the start of the Jeff Gordon that would come to dominate for years to come. A heck of a finish.
My Father went to this race. The story he told me was the race was delayed by something, and they were about to leave, and then they heard them calling the drivers back to their cars, and they hurried back.
From what I remember of the story 1:17:00 was the source of the family problems between Brett and Geoff that Geoff mentioned in his interview. If I recall correctly Geoff was having an emotional affair with Tanya that ended up leading to his divorce. Considering that his wife was normally a pit road fixture and she'd not been at several races that summer, it at least makes the story I remember plausible.
Bob Jenkins and Benny Parsons did a great job doing this broadcast! We miss you Bob and Benny we hope you all are having fun in heaven
RIP Bob Jenkins and Benny Parsons. You two are legends.
Rest In Peace Bob and Benny. This day and Daytona 1998 are the best in NASCAR history.
This is the only version that exists without the audio clipping that is shown in almost every highlight reel. Insane.
What a crowd!!! NASCAR was so awesome in the 90s

The fact that they had The theme song for Chuck Norris The Delta Force playing at the beginning makes this even more awesome.

I think it was a storm
I believe it was the ‘95 Brickyard 400 that he was referring to and it was delayed by rain til that afternoon and evening.
August 1995 people on 465 were turning around driving back to the track it was nearly dark at the end of the race similar to 2017
