It's not just new builds that has bugs. Beautiful puppy ❤ I know that's me not catching everything during that walk through so I'm going to let them know that when we first talk. I want things that are timeless. Things take time. It will be a decision with my son, sister, and myself. There will be a big change for me. I would do everything twice a week when I worked before my husband died so with my new build it will be cleaning daylie or every other day to keep it nice/beautiful. 😊

Glad you're in. It's exciting. We built our current house a long time ago, but the one thing I remember was saying "we're never doing this again". And now we're building a new house in WNC 😋 So far, despite the delays and hiccups, it's a lot easier than we remember. I think it's the point you made toward the end - you're not on a schedule and you're the ones living in there so take your time and do & get what makes you happy.

Congrats on your new build! I hear you, I've about had it after this awful waiting experience but to be completely honest... I'd do it again! I'm so happy to hear that it's been a better than expected experience for you, I hope you get in soon ❤

@@nicolenieves We're a ways out 🙂We bought the property a year ago March & thought we'd be making holes in the ground by the fall. (Just like you in fact.) Took us until the end of August to get the design completed. October before we had all the product selections so the builder could price it. December for contract and the lot was finally laid out in Jan when they got a freak snowstorm with 15" of snow (usually get 5" over the whole winter). Permits, engineering work, etc and then finally(!) ground breaking was March almost to the day of when we bought the lot. Site work, foundation (eye wateringly expensive since we're building on the side of a mountain), and now they're framing. They've finished the lower level and are working on the main level now. We're hoping to be closed in next month and then the long interior work begins. But, I put a couple of wireless (ATT/TMobile/Verizon network capable) security cameras up on trees and even though I'm 900 miles away I can look to see what they're doing whenever I'm curious. For anyone building a new house a distance away from where they are, the cameras are so useful for maintaining the excitement vs waiting for our monthly onsite visits.

@@jimhatch5873 such a long wait, I hope it feels like it's moving faster now! On the side of a mountain sounds GORGEOUS wow I can't wait for you to have the finished product. So many obstacles, fingers crossed those are in the past and it'll be a smooth stretch to the finish line.
We had joked about putting up a few cameras but that's great to be able to check in from so far away!

Great comments! I especially needed to hear the ones about how there WILL be regrets and things I'd like to change. We haven't even moved in yet and I'm already like hmmm.....And the second about waiting for what you really want and not rushing to buy and fill up space. I was already turning to settling on our guest room furniture since we have visitors this summer, but this reminded me that the guests can use our current guest bed and be just fine while I wait for what I really want. Thanks Nicole!

Seeing pictures of your house is what's giving me those regrets 😅 EVERYTHING is so gorgeous! I can't wait to see it once it's all finally done, I'm so happy for you two.
We definitely have empty space that hurts when I walk by but I also know that it'll be worth it in the end. We just had Zach's family spend the night and there are mattresses but they're on the floor, the bedding is all there but no other furniture yet. A little sad looking for now but it will be worth it!

Eek, we close in 2 days. We had our walk-through and I'm positive we probably missed a lot. Your video definitely helped me a lot! That septic issue sounds so stressful! Thank you for being such a great resource!

We had huge , black disgusting crickets everywhere in our new construction home in CA, we started spraying the raid max (blue bottle with the automatic spryer) all over the bottom of the house outside and inside as well and it was day and night difference !!!

When I see you with your dog ... did you do anything prior to moving in to get them adjusted to the new surroundings? We have a miniature schnauzer and are always contemplating on whether we should take her (Bella) over to the new home to orient her to the new spaces (yards, streets, etc). Thanks for sharing, and tip no 5 is one the wife and I are always saying to each other.

We did two phases, I took Sydney (cat) over first thing in the morning to get her introduced to the house while it was empty, then got her set up in a bathroom while the movers were here. Mia stayed at the apartment with my husband while the movers were there, and he brought her over once everything was actually in the house. We didn't do a lot of "prep" for her initially, but that may have helped her get used to things faster!
Say hi to Bella for me 😊

I definitely need to be better with adding those timestamps! It's on the list of things to do, going back through all videos and being sure to add them moving forward
