Great video and editing!! I also don’t like grout in the shower walls or floor. Too much cleaning and mold build up. I like the continuous slab and only joint at the corners. Much easier to clean!!
Thank you for the great videos!!

Thank you so much! Grout is just so aggravating, so much scrubbing!

All good tips - a few we have incorporated into our new build (soft closed drawers; pocket doors) to name a few. One idea you mentioned in a previous video I made sure to tell another couple who are friends of ours and are just starting the new build search ...... moving the pot filler from the kitchen stove area to the Butler Pantry! Thanks for sharing!

The pantry pot filler, such a big regret that we didn't do that! Great thinking ahead with the pocket doors, they're not something I really grew up with/around so it really didn't occur to me just how useful they would be

@@nicolenieves Thanks, but you give us too much credit. The wife and I didn't have much foresight when it came to the pocket door selection - there was a doorway leading from our bedroom to the bathroom - the builder informed us it was either no door or pocket door ..we choose pocket! Love her as I do, I didn't want to see her 3am bathroom lights on when she's getting ready for work! LOL ☺

I want to do the waterfall in the bathroom too. Yes grout sucks! The open shelves look great in the corner.
I love the freestanding tubs but need to figure out something to get in due to high sides.

Hi Nicole, thanks for another great video. I agree with you, spend the money on something that your enjoy everyday. I just finished my design studio options, since it is still seller's market, our builder didn't give us some options that they offered last year or before, such as floating bathroom cabinet, more window options, etc,. I hate the grout, my builder's stand grout gap is big, they don't offer small or like credit card size grout even you use big tile like 24x48' size, that is very annoying, so i chose to have the WPC flooring for the whole house, no more grout in my life. They don't have the whole slab for the bathroom wall options, i think it is hard to put the whole slab on the wall, and take them more time to do this. I I hired a interior designer with me to the design center, she helped me to select the bath tiles, flooring, and kitchen cabinetry, i went with whole slab count top on the backsplash area, and did the waterfall edge island, i took one cabinet from each side of the cook top area, and leave it blank to make the cook area more open and clean look. we have a big island, it is about 138"X72", and i have the cabinetry up to the ceiling, our house is 10' high, i was struggling with either white color cabinetry or harbor color, my designer chose harbor color for me, but at the end i decided to go with white color since i saw you have the white color and it looks nice in the house, i upgrade my wall paint color to white, all the hardware to black including the door knobs and faucet, shower heads at all bathrooms. The whole house will be in white (wall and cabinetry), natural wood color (flooring) and black (all hardware). It costs a lot, but i keep asking myself, if i don't do it now, i will regret in the near future. My designer quoted a lot info from me before i decided to go upgrade with my builder, such as flooring, and bathroom and waterfall island, etc,. It saves some if we do all the work after the house closed, but during the current situation, labor cost is high, and material shortage, and delay shipments, i think it is not worth to take the risk, so we decide to go with builder for the upgrade and everything will be on time.

It sounds like your home is going to be GORGEOUS, I can't wait for it to all be up and ready for you! Excellent points made here, it is such a hard time with long waits and large costs of labor. It will definitely be nice to have that all ready for you once you have your keys. That kitchen sounds like a dream!

Great things to think about. Honestly though (and JMO)I can see the continuous counter will eventually date itself. But the waterfall countertop is a must. Those hide away cabinets are amazing. I like my kitchen to not have any appliances out. Soft closing drawers are a nice touch as well.

Toll Brothers didn't offer most of these options in s.w.Florida builds. I think we are getting soft close drawers, but not sure if the cabinets are soft close.

While I like the waterfall edge, it was just not high enough of a priority to make it into the budget.
The cabinet front appliances are very nice in a high end home, I debated these heavily.
I totally agree regarding the soft close doors / drawers. I would highly recommend them. Adding them later is possible, depending on the cabinet type.
I agree with you on the barn doors.

We didn't even price out the waterfall edges but I'm sure it would have hurt to see that dollar figure! It probably wouldn't have made the cut with our budget either

I agree with the soft closed drawers. It was a pretty penny to add it but we know it will be worth it in the long run. I didn’t ask about the waterfall edges to the island but I do see how elegant and streamline look it gives.

No open shelving you will regret that big time. One more thing to have to clean all the time. And the taller window just put some artwork above the window. Problem solved you save $2000.
