Our passion for building the most-robust performance products on the market has driven us to create a refined version of one of the hardest-working parts of your vehicle's turbo system. Best of all, we’re offering the new GrimmSpeed BPVs as a direct fit for all of the major Subaru platforms including: 08-14 WRX/05-09 LGT, 04-21 STI and 15-21 WRX. We aimed to create an extremely durable bypass valve that could hold double the pressure of the stock unit, while still being a stylish part that compliments the other GrimmSpeed Parts under your hood.
All thats missing is sound examples from the inside, outside, and driving by. "Inspection port" was a great addition, seems like another well made product by Grimmspeed. 🤘
Sound clips coming soon!
What's a inspection port? And do I have to be on speed density to leave the inspection port open?
@@GrimmSpeed did you ever get sound clips
and im guessing the FA will fit a 2016 Forester XT
is the inspecion port what us aussies call vent to Atmosphere
Give it another year or too with this progress and Grimmspeed will be the one stop shop for every aftermarket part you can run on Subies. You guys seriously make crazy progress with parts development and never disappoint with the quality and performance of your parts. Keep up the phenomenal work🔥
🥰 That's the plan! Full steam ahead! We really appreciate the kind words. We are doing our best to keep the Subaru modding world excited and inspired make their build dreams a reality. When it comes down to it, we are a team of enthusiasts making the parts that we would like to see on our own vehicles. So cutting on quality is never an option. Again we appreciate the support!
And I thank you for for making a sti style turbo to your awesome top mount inner cooler so wrx owners have way more aftermarket turbo’s to choose from and making a part that should be obvious to all the aftermarket companies that make aftermarket top mount’s but Grimm speed is the only company that I know that offers that and I only paid a extra $89 and I can use any turbo with the sti style housing the wrx turbo housing doesn’t offer many choices of aftermarket turbo upgrades so thank you grimmspeed
100% I absolutely LOVE these guys! Their products have NEVER failed me!!!
@@GrimmSpeed Thank you guys so much for everything you do! Can't wait to see what's next around the corner!
wow. Grimmspeed is on fire (lately). this is actual stuff that makes the community better...unlike "carbon-look" overlays. Best two-minute Tuesday I've seen in a while. Now, where did I plant that money tree?
We certainly have been busy and we can't agree more! Very excited to get these out and see people enjoying them!
im slowly moving from COBBs to Grimmspeed, cant wait to get mine
As a fabricator and have done work on all types of cars and trucks, y'all make great products, fast shipping and why I keep coming back. Now I gotta get this part and take off the turbosmart bypass from the wifes sti!
Right on!! Thanks for the positive feedback!
@@GrimmSpeed well deserved, will be on order if not already, I'll be sure to get some sound clips, not running inspection port open though for tuning sake.
btw whomever you got welding downpipes... pat them on the back and shake their hand, very nice welds matched mine once I cut off flange and welded vband on. no offense to the 2 bolt flange I prefer vband is all.
ordered today!
Let’s gooooo! This will be my lassssst Cobb part then I’ll will be Grimmspeed complete!!! For performance, So proud to rep you guys it’s a absolute pleasure!!!
Appreciate the heck out of you.
if you don't tell California, i'll quite complaining about gas prices. Love the new fa, good to see the business thriving. Who am i kidding, good 2 c u thriving grimmspeed.
🤘🏾
I got all grimmspeed on the ride except for a boomba BPV.. car sounds amazing 👏 GS fmic inlet bpv intake jpipe invidia q3
Much love!
Ordered mine on June 25th and it arrived yesterday! Going to go install it this morning :) !
Great. Glad you received it so quickly! Enjoy it.
I really want this beautiful piece, but my OEM BPV has run fine since 2002 at over 21 PSi with zero leaks and has almost 400K miles on it lol. It's like they sometimes say, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
What is the set screw on the back for?
Is the spring tension adjustable like other valves, or a set spring tension?
Is the fluttering sound compressor surge from the spring being to stiff to properly vent lower boost pressure, or is the flutter an actual sound theat the valve itself makes?
The screw on the back is an inspection port. It's is a set spring tension. Non adjustable. In our testing, we did not see any compressor surge. The sound you hear is the valve itself opening and closing.
This is awesome…but when will it be available in neon green to match the rest of the engine dress-up parts I have from you guys? 👀
If we see a lot of demand for the Neon Green color we may just do it!
You know i demand lol
@@GrimmSpeed... Nothing wrong with a limited run...say 50 or 100 units(?)...at least have one to match all available colors of dress up pulley covers and fender vents (not that you can see the bpv in the wx)
@@K03sport Even though a limited run seems like an easy solution, they still take up a lot of bandwidth for our team. Every ounce of resource that we have goes into producing the parts we make. So we have to be very selective of what projects we take on from month to month. We live to make you guys happy, but it just has to make business sense. Im not saying that a limited run doesn't, we just have to run the numbers. Keep asking and pushing us to produce the parts you want to see. We always have an ear to our market and are always sourcing ideas from our valued customer base.
Hey guys any updates for the proper gasket for 08-14?
can you run Vent to atmosphere without the bottom elbow?
that's so freaking awesome! can't wait to hear how they sound.
and are you guys planning on doing some in the noen green? 🤔
So much excite! If we notice a demand for a neon green version we may consider it.
I'm guessing if one was to "forget" to install the inspection port plug, it would become a VTA BOV and make extra noises.... and require a tune of course.. I mean we have to inspect for science.
James, the port is strictly for inspection purposes only. We would have to shake our head in disapproval if it was taken out and discarded for any reason.
@@GrimmSpeed So the inspection port is already pre assembled? Just curious if the port is something you have to install on the side before installing the BPV
@@RuzeyFX The port is pre-capped with a plug. There is nothing to install on the side before installing.
Can I really not run this on my stock legacy gt tmic? States you don’t need a tune for this product but then also says (can’t fit oem tmic) which you’d then need to get a new aftermarket intercooler to run this bpv and ultimately would need to get a tune either way since you have to change your IC🤦🏾♂️
#GrimmSpeed
Ive had one of these back ordered since April 2022..Got an update from RallySport Direct a few weeks back telling me it would be August of 2023 before they were available.
Please tell me this isn't the case?
That is a problem. Please reachout to our customer service team so they can see what options you have to get this sorted out.
Did we ever get a sound clip?
Just ordered mine 2 or 3 days ago. Any timeline on when the next batch of these is set to ship out? Thanks!
Reach out to our customer service team. They can get you a more definitive answer.
What are the signs of a leaking/broken bypass valve?
I have the original version of the BPV and was wondering if there were any reports of the AF correction 1 going out of wack because of it. I have a stage 1 tune so I'm not even sure if I should be messing with a aftermarket BPV anyways. of coarse they offer a better air flow and a nice flutter on stock turbo. Any help? Should I stay with the OEM BPV?
Do you need a gasket for the bpv for the STI or you dont need one?
The unit seals with a pre-applied o-ring. No need for a traditional gasket.
Is there a lead time on these, just ordered from your vendor but they're unsure when it will ship out
Give our customer service team a call. They should be able to help you with a ETA on retail orders.
@@GrimmSpeed just got word they came in stock yesterday!
I hope you guys make a 50/50 hybrid bov in the future I'll definitely buy one then aslong as its small so it fits my proccess west top mount
We will see what the future brings!
Love the brand run mostly all your parts besides the top mount and aos
@@acidmike3535 We all thank you for the support!
Acid bro. Jc do u run a hybrid bov run. And if so what brand. I run gfb. Was curious on urs
on the install on the STI in the video why is the vaccum hose Y sited? where does that connect to ?
Does this help with MPG at all?
nameless bypass valve for 15-21 is one of the best
We have no personal experience with them, so can't say either way. Im sure they also make a good product. Purchase which ever one makes you happy.
Which one do I need for 2021 limited STI? i believe I have ej25. Plan to purchase as soon as you let me know thanks brother

@@GrimmSpeed thank you
@@bryetube86 You're welcome
But do you get any of the PSHHH sounds?
Yes, there are some pshhh sounds included. Even more if you have an aftermarket intake setup.
Nice product 😍 But providing wrong info to sell there product ! EJ factory bypass don’t leak even on 500+HP
Through real world and bench testing we found that the OEM BPV was prone to leaking around 19lbs.
When are these getting shipped out 😩♥️
Orders started shipping yesterday!
Why is this no longer on your website
We released the V2 BPV a couple days ago. Check the website again.
👀👀👀, very informative video definitely will consider making the switch from the boomba, just would like to hear how it sounds first tho👍🏼! And tune requirements?
We just uploaded a sound clip video! Check it out!
Also no tune required for the GrimmSpeed BPV's.
Thanks ill definitely look into making the switch!
@@omialmanza1900 Do you what you can, we will still love you either way. 😘
I must have mist It i did not see u use a gasket with the ej top mount
No gasket. These use a o-ring to seal.
do you need to have a tune when you install it?
No, no tune is needed for installation.
18 Sti after install, need to tune up the car computer?
No tune required for BPV's
Damn this would look sooooo clean on my Grimmspeed tmic
It certainly will. it was design so it would.😎
Is it possible to get these in bare aluminum?
No, these are only available as anodized units.
Just ordered mine!!
Yay! Congrats!
I would think it shouldn't be a problem but I have a '12 WRX with a Mishimoto aftermarket intercooler that keeps the stock location of the Bypass valve. Do you think this new Grimmspeed one would sit there just fine?
As long as the flange is the same as OEM, then it SHOULD work just fine. We have not had the chance to test fit these new BPV's with other competitors products just yet. Typically not something we do as we design all of our products to work flawlessly with each other.
Seems good. Thanks for the reply! I look forward to getting more Grimmspeed parts in the future for the build
@@TheeWandell No problem. Lets us know if you have any other question. Happy to help.
is there any adjusting once i take it out of the box? i got mine yesterday and i noticed i can’t push the brass part in?
Too bad they aren't available anywhere. Mine has been on backorder since April.
Yeah, they've been crazy popular. We've been building them as fast as possible to fulfill all backorders.
Is it possible to achieve any extra sound installing this onto a completely stock STI? Some people say yes, some say no, and others say it’s very faint.
In a completely stock vehicle, it will be pretty faint. In order to really get a change in sound you need be be running some kind of aftermarket intake.
@@GrimmSpeed thanks for the clarification, I appreciate it. That’s what I figured for the most part. I bought a new 21 STI back in October and I’m just a little hesitant on buying parts that require a tune at the moment, at least until I’ve had the car for a little while. So I’m trying to achieve anything possible without going overboard. Would it still be beneficial for the car putting an aftermarket BPV on?
Is a gasket optional?
A gasket is not needed for the bpv. It seals with an oring.
After installing it.. don’t you have to tune it??
No tune required for the BPV's!
If I wanted to install this onto my OEM turbo inlet for my fa20 platform, would I need to trim 1/8" off of where the bpv actually fits into the inlet like the boomba bpv? Or is it just a straight plug and play with no trimming?
Some trimming may be required. Depends on the application. Some of the OEM BPV's require a longer hose for fitment.
Do you still need the gasket for the 04-21 sti?
No gasket required. The o-ring seals these units.
I just installed one on my 2020 STI and noticed you didn't put a gasket between the bpv and flange. Does the O-ring take care of the seal without the gasket? Just wondering because my car sounds way different from the STI in the sound video.
Hey John! Correct, the o-ring takes care of sealing the unit. Keep in mind, the STI in the video is pretty built up with a GrimmSpeed Aftermarket Turbo and applicable mods.
can you please tell me why the bov goes on top of the engine and the bypass valve goes under the engine? or visa versa. i thought they were the same thing, just operate differently. is there two different types of engines? could you have a bypass valve under the engone and a blow off valve on top of the engine? i really dont think so but i dont know. I'm new to subaru
Good question, there are a couple different fitments. The FA20 fitment for the bpv goes under the engine and connects to the turbo inlet, The EJ fitment sits on top of the engine and attaches to either the intercooler or the front mount piping.
@@GrimmSpeed so there is 2 locations of where it COULD go. It just depends on the fitment of the valve you buy?
@@THEBILL1993 It depends on your engine. FA20s have the BPV underneath. EJs have the BPV on top with the intercooler.
Just add it to my list of parts I need to buy.
We have a wishlist button on the site!
@@GrimmSpeed I can't get that work actually. I've tried to add stuff to it but they never take.
Will this fit on an OEM TMIC 2011 wrx
No, the flange won't seal on OEM TMIC's. Aftermarket intercoolers only.
Bpv for the process west verticooler ?
It's guaranteed to fit with our intercooler. Not sure on the verticooler as we don't test fit with other competitors products. Off the top of my head, i am thinking it may come into contact with the brake master cylinder.
Do these require a tune?
No tune required for the BPV's!
Hi how's it going just got my gs bpv I have a stock 2020 wrx I installed it but no flutter did I do something wrong everything is connected right after the test drive I switched it back to the oem bpv pls I need help
Guessing you don't have an aftermarket intake. The BPV can be pretty quiet when running the OEM enclosed intake.
@@GrimmSpeed you where right there is a flutter it's just quiet ima need a aftermarket intake now 👍🏼💪🏽
So what tmic would I need to run for this bpv, Or will it not fit any tmic? Just wondering cause it says “does not fit OEM tmic” on the website.
We recommend running this on either a GrimmSpeed TMIC or FMIC, however it can work on OE STI intercoolers; 08-14 WRX/05-09 LGT factory intercoolers however will not work with this.
Do I need a tune if I install a BPV or is it safe to daily drive without a tune?
No tune required for the BPV
@@GrimmSpeed Awesome thank you! Can’t wait to receive my item.
Awesome, catless downpipe next please 🙏🏽 lol
Catless isn’t an option for us anymore due to EPA regulation.
Does it come with a new gasket or I need to use my old one?
Ok I just ordered it 😁
On these BPV's, no gasket is required. There is an included o-ring that makes the seal.
I didn’t see a gasket on the bpv when being installed, is one needed and does the unit come with 1 or do I also need to purchase one?
These units seal with an o-ring. No gasket needed.
Can I run this on my stock ej with no problems ?
This will work just fine on a stock setup. No tune required.
How much boost can these BPV hold?
The GS BPV can hold double the spring pressure of the OEM unit.
Can i run this on my stock tmic 2011 wrx?
No, this bpv will not fit 2011 WRX OEM Intercooler.
What’s the lead time on the 2015+ turbo inlets?
We have a ton of orders for these that we are doing our best to catch up on. Oldest orders are being fulfilled first. It depends on when you placed your order, but lead time is looking to be 2-3 weeks.
@@GrimmSpeed Thank you! 🤙🤙
why cant you make an FA24F version?
We are exploring FA24F product development. The BPV may be something we do in the future.
So this new BPV doesn't need a Gasket? I got mine today and haven't installed yet but it didn't come with a gasket! Should i reuse the OEM gasket? Or just install it without that? I got a 21 STI BTW
No gasket needed. These seal with the o-ring included on the flange.
What is the typical hp increase for the whole setup you have on the table? I am ready for some upgrades.
Most of the parts on the table aren't power adders, but parts that will facilitate more power with additional add-ons. The intake, charge-pipe and j-pipe will provide some hp gains with a tune.
No gasket?
No gasket required. The included o-ring does the sealing.
Is it fits on stock inlet or only the grimmspeed ?
Will not fit the OEM 08-14 Subaru WRX Intercooler. It was designed to worked with the GrimmSpeed flange design.
Is this available for 2009 forester xt turbo SH?
Yes, We do have a fitment available for that. www.grimmspeed.com/grimmspeed-bypass-valve-08-14-wrx-05-09-lgt/
@@GrimmSpeed are this available stock on your website?
Awww..an I jus replaced my bpv for my FA. This would've been a great option..if it existed at the time. I went with GFB
Next time you are in the market for one, keep us in mind!
I’m thinking about selling my GFB and going for a different sound so hmmmmm
Can we get a sound test of these new products 🥴
I guess so...
@@GrimmSpeed literally out right after I asked 🙌🏾
Your prayers have been answered.
But I want some whhaaaaa pshhhhhh lol 😂
🤣
Does this product fit on a process west tmic for a 2006 wrx?
It should as long as the flange is the same. But we haven't confirmed it yet. We are still working on fitment lists. For now, go by the fitments that are listed on our product pages.
How does the height compare to the oem lgt version?
Good question, they are relatively the same form factor as the OEM unit.
All that is missing now is a turbo for the FA...
🤐 We know, such a shame...
Do you need a tune for this mod????
No tune required for the BPV's!
Damn.. Tax season IS right around the corner..
Yes sir! Uncle Sam approves this purchase.
All these drops for the FA20, is making me want to keep mine and not sell it :(
Why would you sell such a great platform? You'll miss it.
