I recently was in a position where I could use a second angle on a video I was making and besides my X-T4 the X100V is the only other professional camera I have, so I thought I’d try it out for video. I was actually pleasantly surprised with how well it did! I definitely didn’t buy it for video and haven’t tried video on it for many years but it’s nice to have handy. I’d love to upgrade to the 6 as well but.. maybe in a year or so as my x100v is doing more than fine.
@@bike.breath yeah as a B-cam in situations where you don't have another options it can definitely work! It's one of the only real use cases I see for video on the x100 series. That being said record times and overheating scares me when using it for talking head stuff

24mp for me is plenty . I have no issues with it on the r6m2 so i think I’d go with the x100v if I could find it at a decent discount compared to the x100vi If money was no object then I’d get the x100vi but definitely don’t need those extra MP
Excellent video! I was aware of the X100VI's greater resolution and IBIS, but had seen at least one other review suggesting that the greater resolution was beyond the capability of the lens and hence not as useful as it sounds. But your review documents otherwise. X100V (and predecessors) is the only camera I have normally used for years. I do crop in fairly often, plus I prep and sell prints from these cameras up to 30"x40" and larger. I also love shooting handheld at dusk and at night. So it appears the VI will be a good fit for me. Thanks!!
@@GregBrownFlyingCarpet definitely sounds like you'll take use of the x100vi's advantages! I've seen people say the same about the less but I felt there's was noticeable more detail in my shots with the x100vi but it was only noticeable when cropping in.
@@AllCarsUnited I think it's pretty clear I'm comparing the overall experience. I've shot both camera in all sorts of lighting conditions and have a very good handle on how they each perform. I never said this was a side by side photo comparison.
$,1600 for a brand new & refreshed camera seems like a no brainer when compared to a previous gen, USED model that's still slightly overpriced in the used market... I know the X100V is probably fine but the unpredictable problems that can come with buying used just scare me. Maybe it's just me being paranoid from past experiences but do I really want to wait months? I'm conflicted 🤣
Buying used is definitely scary, that's why it's best to go with a site like K&F and get a little more protection. As you know you can't really get a X100vi for 1600. I just saw recently people who pre ordered the week it was released from B&H are on back order until October
X100V is so fine but unfortunately still sells at €1600 in Europe… forward looking it’s likely to drop but if it’s wait in either case better to wait for the VI and secure that investment longer term imho
Would you choose the X100v or the X100vi and why?

Yeah if money was no object the x100vi is the obvious choice but it is 😂.
With that in mind the x100v is very enticing
