- VENICE BEACH, LOS ANGELES - On October 27, 2023, the City of Los Angeles carried out a cooperative initiative aimed at addressing the homelessness issue at Venice Beach. The operation saw the combined efforts of the Department of Public Works, Recreation and Parks, and Clean Harbors Environmental Services.
To ensure their safety during the cleanup, workers were equipped with hazardous materials gear. The Housing Coordinator from Councilwoman Traci Park's office played a pivotal role, streamlining communication among the involved city departments, which are tasked with overseeing homeless encampments.
The operation benefited from the seamless coordination of three specialized waste management teams, which handled the disposal of regular as well as hazardous waste. Additionally, the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) extended their expertise with on-site outreach.
Throughout the operation, the vigilant presence of Los Angeles Park Rangers proved essential in upholding safety standards and ensuring adherence to compliance measures.
The Venice Beach cleanup serves as a testament to the City of Los Angeles' comprehensive strategy to combat homelessness. Such endeavors emphasize the city's relentless commitment to addressing the underlying causes of homelessness and offering vital support to those affected.

I have been to Venice beach about 15 years ago. Hung at bars Enjoyed the ocean and the eclectic vibe. NOW THIS! sad so sad The LA coast it one of America's treasures. Good to know they are cleaning it up and getting them help

Too bad that alarms can't be installed in the bathrooms to go off at 3:00AM, and stay on for 5 minutes. A sprinkler head to turn on at that time would also help.

why are these bathroom stalls so big? they should be just the size of a urinal and then no one would sleep there etc. or use porta potties overnight and lock these until 8 am-8pm.

By law, there needs to be publicly accessible restrooms in any area owned and operated by the city as a 'park'. They just need to start cleaning these areas every night and finding a way to 'lock' them and have security cameras with a clear view of the doors from an angle that doesn't look inside. Then if there is any movement, it will be seen on a monitor by the park rangers and they can check to see if it's an animal or a person. There are ways to circumvent the homeless from taking over these restrooms but the city needs to take all those billions of dollars they give to their city officials and put it towards helping keep these public spaces clean.

I did live there. Walking on the beach every morning with my coffee and the dog, sometimes breakfast at Hinano by the pier, dinner at Mercedes or James Beach. It was a special place once. Now it's just a gigantic public toilet. I left at the end of 2017 when I saw the writing on the wall...

I live in VIrginia and one of my old friends (not my friend any longer) went on the run from going to jail and fled to California.
He lived as a "homeless person" there for 7 months before coming back and turning himself in.
Said they used to sleep and read porn mags on top of gas stations and that it was far easier to make a living than just working.
He was also paid one time to be "a white guy in a van" that was transporting illegals over the border.
The van crashed at some point and rolled over in the desert and the driver and my "friend" just left.
Left whomever was injured in the crash, just dipped.

I’m not going to lie being a homeless guy who is trying to make it work until my court case is over is really difficult I not in the same situation as most of them I work my butt off and I don’t ever leave my stuff here and there so I don’t lose anything but I just don’t get the ones who push the cart around like I had to do that before because I had a dead battery and it had to push it around like a hour and it just sucked so bad I had to stop about 15 times so I had a whole new out look on them people who volunteer to do that I would never do that again and afterwards I was so glad to be back to the area so I’m clean threw and threw but being homeless sucks bad and I just get enraged 🤬when I see people disrespect the city officers who are not trying to bother them but it very apparent that they have a huge problem with homeless people in California So my suggestion is that if they leave it goes in the city dump and watch you guys pick up the trash is not upset me at all they deserve it if they think that it okay to leave it

I wish they would give back the authority for the county park rangers to carry firearms again.
They are staffed less than law enforcement and deal with more rural areas and their dispatch has to spend 10 extra minutes calling to what ever dispatch center they are in to get them law enforcement backup if needed.
They are considered peace officers, which is why they have blue on their vehicles.
They do traffic stops in parks, and to an untrained eye they look like cops. They get put themselves out there just like everyone else and only have a taser, baton, and pepper spray.
When those park rangers think they are going to have to euthanize wildlife they carry the issued pistols but normally they leave the killing of un-armed civilians to the LAPD.

There is no doubt that the majority of people here are by CHOICE and on drugs and just dont want to work. Its not like its the great depression out there as the economy has plenty of jobs. These people got on drugs or some sort of Vice and cant stop it. When I visit CA there are almost Model-level women on the streets......so its getting crazy out there.
CA greatest asset, the weather almost makes one not want to work as I worked from home and its so nice that some days I wanted to call out, but I never did.
I feel bad for Daisy, such a gorgeous girl, drugs ruins everybody....I hope she gets better...
Her brain is so fried, and she is still attractive / so she will still get plenty of attention. - she would never seek treatment, she believes she's a healer. Imagine her trying to hold a conversation with other young women who had their 💩 together - she wouldn't last two minutes. In this environment, she is "the pretty homeless healer" - when in reality she needs meds, supervision and a host of other services.

People now see the issue. The town where I grew up was consumed by illegals 35 years ago, with many people moving out of the town, the town population increased over 200% in 5 years. Slum lords were purchasing houses cheap, pay hardly no property tax on the cheap houses, then filling them with 30-40 illegals, rented by the head. Then the property taxes were paid for trash pick up for a house suited for a family of 4-5, but the trash from that house was then from 30-40 people. This was all over town. They worked and slept in shifts, but the weekends and holidays, they were sleeping in carports and on the porches because the houses were full. Then, there is the sewer from a house for 4-5 people, now producing sewer from 30-40 people. So, how did the "politicians" dela with it?
They had to hire more sanitation workers, increased the sewer plant and doubled the city lake reservoir size. The slum lords were still paying taxes on dirt cheap houses, with the houses in such bad shape from being rented, value was almost nothing. But, all of the people in town with nice houses, property taxes sky rocketed, water billed increase over 400%. Now years later with a new industrial plant in town, they are building low-income housing to house more illegals and my Mom that still lives in that town just got notice of a water shortage with extreme water restrictions (with high water table, no drought). Now they have exceeded the expanded city lake water capacity again, now the property owners will be slammed with another property tax and water usage increase. It's a snowball effect with the disaster at the bottom of the hill, but all the democrats scream is, the illegals are great for this country.
I agree, my town is about 70% illegals now.
Yards run down, loud cars, and music in the summer. Used to be a middle class community. I could go to the High school Track at night to run.
Now I get nervous taking out the trash.
