hey friends I just want to address something insensitive that i said in this video. a few of my Hindu viewers have kindly pointed out that Om is a very important word in India. I did know it was a real chant - in the video I was trying to succinctly give the vibe that Om the character, as a white guy who went to India once to meditate and then renamed himself Om, was an insensitive loser who repackaged actual cultures for his own gain (as he is portrayed in the book). But then I proceeded to provide absolutely 0 detail or nuance on this idea by characterizing Om as just a word that white women use to pretend to be monks. Which is partly true - the West "tries on" global culture all of the time without paying proper homage to communities or seeking to understand them. That was the stereotype I wanted to highlight to characterize this man, but what I actually said was very reductive and absolutely not the full picture of what Om is to actual Hindu people, and I am really really sorry for presenting it like it was or minimizing Hindu experiences with meditation or religion in any capacity.
It was absolutely not my intention and I am sorry for biffing that description as much as I did 😭 I will be more careful in the future but I am not perfect so please let me know if I make a mistake like this again! I never want any of you guys to feel unsafe here and would SO MUCH rather you tell me if you ever do so I can try to correct it both in the moment & moving forward.
thank you
It’s human to make mistake. I learned something because of you today 🤍 thank you
I had no idea and I got to learn because of this, too! 🎉🫶
I respect you so much more for acknowledging this!! I came to comments to express my grievance but thank you for saying this. ❤
'If you're gonna say something misogynistic please hate yourself for it' is a banger of a line. I need it on like a totebag or something
honestly
I WAS LITERALLY THINKING “god I miss lexi” EARLIER AND JUST WHEN I NEEDED SOMETHING TO WATCH I GOT THE NOTIFICATION. LEXI YOU ARE MAGIC
These videos are saving some boring ass days fr fr
This. She’s rent free
😎 what can i say
once I noticed uncle jake on the wall, I couldn’t unnotice him
a trophy of war
NOOO i cant unsee it either 😭
i am haunted😭
spent the whole vid staring at him 😭
nooooo
Can we all take a moment for how casually eloquently Lexi describes books?! Her speaking off the cuff sounds like something I would have to sit down for hours to craft perfectly 👏🏼
girl please we all adore the long form content dont apologize!!
“But jealously, but man, but ooga booga.” 💀💀💀
Off topic but ooga booga is a channel that’s absolutely hilarious😭 highly recommend
hello fellow trouble maker😭@@ketterdam_crow
@@ketterdam_crowWHAT I WAS THINKING
you should so add a spoilers section at the end, I always wanna know what you’re talking about!
yes!
Thank you so much for putting the book title, cover, and other info up in the corner while you’re talking about a book. It’s genius and so helpful.
the gasp i let out when you showed the trope spoiler 😭😭😭😭😭 i hate that trope too and i really wanted to read that book
IMAGINE the screech when i was reading
@@newlynova The betrayal still feels fresh and it's been a week since I finished it. And I thought I was weird for hating the trope so I'm so glad to see other people hate it too.
same!! I thought it was just me that hates that trope.
but at least now I can take that book off my TBR and move on to something else.
@@kcatalan3 I for real was like "oh I just have weird feelings about pregnancy but other people must love this" but to know that it's not as popular as I had feared is a relief. I previously read mostly queer novels so that trope happening is very rare. Then I just got slapped in the face with it when I started to venture into other romances.
Apparently Abby Jimenez is known for the trope. I was SO MAD reading this book. I am of the mindset that trope needs to always be listed upfront.
i love a woman who yaps!
i would loveee if you made a storygraph!! i abandoned GoodReads years ago in a reading slump and after being tired of seeing middle school reads and have been obsessed with storygraph for months!
I second this!! I tried to use both StoryGraph and GR concurrently for a while but StoryGraph's stats page is just too good that I felt no need to keep using GR. I know people criticize SG because the social features aren't as good but it will get better if we keep getting more people on board !!!!! 🤍
i may eventually, the stats are super cool but alllll of my stuff in on GR... when i have the space i think i will probably do both
@@newlynovayou can download all of your goodreads data and migrate it to storygraph very easily! storygraph gives you a very good step-by-step tutorial on how to do it
@@newlynovathere’s a feature where you can transfer all your goodreads data to the app! i believe it still keeps all your stuff on goodreads but I’m unsure as i’ve never tried or used goodreads myself
I believe storygraph has an option to transfer all your GR data over so you don’t have to do it manually
oh thank Lexi for this upload I've had the worst frickin day today, this will cheer me up :")
🫶🫶 get some rest, drink some water, and do something that makes you smile this evening~
“one thing about me is that, i love yapping. i don’t know when to stop talking, nobody taught me when I was young-“ more proof that Lexi is the best, most relatable, gorgeous human being ever
i binged ALL of your videos and watched the last one yesterday and now this video feels like a reward
"pike - like the fish!" the way you delivered that LOL
i’m going to recommend watching “good grief”. it won’t make the ocean stop tidal waving inside your mind but honestly it helped mine feel less overwhelming and heavy and i’ve had a really shite month (it’s sad and made me cry but in a good way i promise)
just looked it up...feels very up my alley, will definitely check it out. thank you for the rec
I set down Iron Widow last year because I also thought it read oddly middle grade, I'm hoping to go back to it but I'm glad to see I'm not the only one
It's so interesting to me how you didn't feel the emotional core in Pachinko when I cried multiple times while reading it. To this day this is my most emotional read😭😭😭😭
Sameeee
Am I dreaming??? Four videos in the last couple of days? Needless to say I do rewatch all your videos all day to feel some sort of peace. ❤
every time you upload an angel gets its wings fr I get so excited when you have a new video bc you never miss!!
I love seeing my favorite tiktokers become my favorite youtubers and support each other ❤
you were in my head rent free today, I bought juniper + thorn and tomorrow + tomorrow + tomorrow 😭
(also please never apologize for the lengths of your videos i love it)
yessss i hope you love them as much as i did!!
Love adding "sorry I can't, lexi put out a new video" into my rolodex of responses 💕 thank you for being such a gem of a human bean :')
Also would LOVE a bookshelf tour if you'd ever feel up to it!
Omg. A new Lexi video is my dopamine hit for hte week.
lexi has such a beautiful way of describing books, it’s so spot on and soo funny so it’s very enjoyable to watch her videos. our tastes are similar so i love all the recs!!! thank you lexi i love your content so heckin much
The curls are CURLING today 🫶🏻 Seeing you post a video literally MAKES my day!! def added a few of these to my TBR!
I usually have to watch videos at 1.5 speed, but yours is already at 1.5 so thank you for that 🤣🤣
I don’t understand how, but you always seems to put into words exactly how I feel about a book! Your reviews of yours truly and check and mate were so spot on. I’m way older than you, but feel like a book-kindred-spirit!
Just wanted you to know that as a highschool senior I haven’t read for fun since like 8th grade and your channel has helped me so so much in getting back into/gaining motivation to read again
our literary overlord is back! praise be!
Finally, I’m not the only one who didn’t give Yours Truly five stars. I felt really similarly to you.
Thanks for all the new recs
This is the first time that we read a mutual book, A Study In Drowning!! And our opinions are the same!! You are the only book reviewer that I actually watch EVERY video of, and only one who seems to explain books in a way that makes sense!! Sometimes we are just here for a fun time, not a studious time!
Im so glad to find someone else who feels the same way as i do about the American royals series! I genuinely loved the first book and loved to hate reading all the sequels.
Whatever length your videos are they're always a great time! it's a bonus, if anything, when they come out as sometime that could be perceived as longer formatted TH-cam content. Wishing you fulfilling reading times this February
The way you speak, the words you chose and the tone/ speed of your voice is like candy to me. Please never change. Please write a book someday.
The speed reminds me of Gilmore Girls. Lol.
“but jealously, but man, but ooga booga👹”😭😭
lexi. you have what no other book youtuber doesn’t. you keep my smooth brain intrigued for the entire video every time. you make amazing recommendations :) thank you for brightening my day every upload in a tough time.

I love that you mention the fanfic vibes of Ali hazelwood, because she was a fanfic writer. Her first published (love hypothesis) was a reylo AU fanfic. A lot of fanfiction has been moving mainstream again and as an adult who got into it is be curious if you end up on that side of book too and end up making a series of it
That mental health metaphor in the beginning was so good and really described how I've been feeling lately
Knowing that you liked both a study in drowning and checkmate has boosted anything you like in those genres for me. If you recommend anything like those I am going to know there is a high chance I will also love it. Xxx
My girlfriend watched this video with me and she told me you and I talk extremely similarly, the biggest compliment!
LEXI- you need need NEED to read Little Thieves by Margaret Owen. It’s one of my fav books of all time and would love to see it on a monthly wrap up vid! this goes for anyone reading this comment who need a recommendation as well. trust me
this is on my radar for sure!!!
The good thing is that I love hearing your yapping! 🥹🧡✨🫶🏼
so glad to see someone else have similar thoughts about small things like these... it just was not for me like i wanted it to be. i understand the value of it but it just didn't do enough for me
i love when you make looooong videos, they're always a vibe
I just love it when you post and I see books on my tbr on the thumbnail like yes time to see if I'm spending my money again 🥳
thanks for much for this video, we appreciate all the work and love you put into your videos 💖💖💖 this was the best timing EVER!!!!!
Pachinko was such a stunning story to me 😭 you are the only booktuber I’ve seen mention it!
Love the book talk & really appreciate the talk about taking care of ourselves and getting through hard times
Your videos are so cozy and comforting to me ❤ love bookish people like you so much!!!
ur vlogs make me so happy
Thank God you're back! We all missed you, but I'm glad to see you are taking the time you need for you.
My queen is back! Ily
I love waking up and see you post cuz I get good company + great books and takes ✨️

HI LEXI i love you so so much. this is day one of my request for you to read manacled!! (it is a fanfiction but i would love to see your reaction) and i think you would really enjoy it!! ❤❤
YAASSSS it’s a great day when lexi posts a video 🫶🏻

Thank you for all the reading suggestions! I’ve been reading Circe since you talked about it in a previous video. I’m addicted so far.
I also picked up circe bc of Lexi. I loved it ❤

Love, love, loved Iron Widow & A Study in Drowning! ❤❤

a new video on the day i start watching ur content?? easiest sub of my life
you have been FEEDING us lately
❤❤ love your wraps ups. So many of these were already on my mental tbr but now i wrote them down too ahahah😂
Thank you for saying that Small Things Like These is shallow, I truly did not get why it was sold to me as life-changing! Love your videos ❤
I gave Yours Truly like 2 stars and the trope you despised is also why I docked two of the stars, and also some of the writing was just so ugh I couldn't do it.
The way I drop everything I am doing when I see a new video
Got home from an extra long commute to a new lexy video. My day was immediately better
You're my fav content creator. The way I JUMP to your video notifs 😂
i love ali hazelwood her books always just having me giggling and kicking my feet
The Seven Year Slip is on my TBR for February! And that’s interesting about the Beartown series, I absolutely loved Beartown and have been wanting to get to the next 2 books so we’ll see what I think!!
0:55 this is the best description I've heard in a while oh my GOD
The dead romantics is on my tbr. I think you are the first youtuber I have heard talk about it
I had the wildest work day bro so I needed this😭
Their Vicious Games was nuts!
Another Video?! lets go!
I just finished Big Swiss, and your review is excellent. I also gave it 3 stars.
Instant serotonin❤❤❤❤
I discovered your channel few weeks ago and read some books you recommended, and oh my I love them!(I read Betty and Six of Crows)
I think if you never read Three Body Problem, you'll enjoy it too. After reading it the sky never looks the same.
“Call it what you want” By Brigid Kemmerer is my all time favorite fav YA romance. I think about the mmc of that book almost every day MANY months after reading it.
