Fr omg I remember reading in between classes as a high school freshman and the twist in the first book had me so good truly those were simpler times 😮💨🤌🤌
Girl I need a bookshelf tour pleaseeeee, also… I love your content. It’s so hard to find a girl that reads that many genres and doesn’t stick only to romance books so I’m so happy that you open the door to the other women in booktube.
I highly recommend checking out some creators like cari can read, throne of pages, and the book Leo! They always check out different genres of books and even got me into new genres myself like Classics and getting back into Danmei. Honestly it’s so hard to find channels like these that DO read other stories outside of just romance
@@screamingbean7509 thanks for the recommendations! I’m subscribed to the book Leo but I unsubscribed Cari can read because of the scandal she had with another girl:( but anyways I will check out throne of pages, thank you.
no literally like i was seeing people talking about how bride was omegaverse and then when I was reading it I had the same reaction!! like it was INCREDIBLY tame compared to the things I was reading at like 11 years old 😭
HIGHLY recommend Anxious People by Fredrik Backman. It’s hilarious, which is so rogue from the writer who brought us Beartown, but also so tender and still comes with all the wisdom and depth that you’d expect from him. I’m sure you’re aware of its existence but if you needed a sign to shift it up the TBR, it literally revived me to personhood.
I SECOND THIS anxious people pulled me out of a massive reading slump. The message is so heartfelt and all the characters have a little place in my heart
I wouldn’t say books akin to Anxious People is “rogue” for Fredrik Backman. I’d say most of his books are more similar to anxious people than to Beartown, and that Beartown is the outlier (and my favourite)
I end up reading scythe series since the author came to my school to sign the short stories book for this series. I wasn’t planning on reading the series or buying the short story until my teacher gave me the short stories for free and then I read the whole series before he came. Now it’s the only book I ever gotten signed.
your commentary on scott hawkins is the most on point and accurate response like what is in that man's head it cannot be normal. I was personally confused the whole time but having read gideon the ninth first was very happy to cruise along while totally lost until things started clicking.
I just wanted to say, I just recently found your channel and I have watched basically all of your videos. I love your content and I find it so relatable and relaxing just to watch you. You have helped me out of a super major reading slump too so thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Can you make a video about your notion spreadsheet for your books please 😭 in one of your videos you showed a screenshot of it for a second and I made me own after I saw that but I’m sooo curious about how you organize yours
Before I Let Go was one of my instant favourites last year! Apparently the author is planning to release another book set in the same "world" as Before I let Go, so I cannot be more excited :)
Absolutely adore the Scythe series! I recently just finished the series and love all the books, but I think the second book, the Thunderhead, was my favorite. It really helped me out of a reading slump.
My book club LOVED Library of Mount Char and it’s so hard to find something to give a similar feeling because it’s so bonkers (but also agree with the critique!)
Can confirm, the Scythe AI is really just doin its best thru all three books. I hope you continue the series! It's one of my favorite series I've read, which is not to say that it's perfect but it is just such a solid series and all of the books are bangers imo
My god, if I wasn't subscribed before your Bride review, I would be after! Our feelings on the author, the politics, the banter, the not-too-heavy on the omega-verse type stuff-- we are on the exact same page. I really love your videos and I'm so glad I found them!
Neal Shusterman alterted my brain chemistry as a teen with his books from two other series Unwind another YA dystopia a near future where the technology for organ transplants has progressed so that 99.44% of the body can be used and parents can sign over for children ages 13-18 to be "unwound" and the main characters are a juvenile delinquent who's being unwound by his parents, a ward of the state being unwound to cut costs, and a kid being unwound as a tithe from his family. And Everlost a YA fantasy where children who get lost on the journey to the afterlife and end up basically as ghosts on Earth stuck between life and death and they're trying to find a way to pass on. Definitely recommend both of those
Listen, I love the scythe series. I liked book one but, can I just say book two and three are down right wild. Like… I can’t even figure out how we got from point a to point b but I loved every moment of it.❤❤ it’s a treat and i hope to reread it at some point this year ❤😂
I am not on TikTok (might be the only human who isn't at this point) but from what I've seen: not many good things come from there. YOU ARE THE EXCEPTION. Love your content, love how great you are at talking about books and dissecting them, you're just awesome and I always look forward to videos from you - no matter how chaotic or unhinged they are! You got me interested in The library of Mount Char! My fave reads from February were Iona Iverson's rules for commuting and Not in the plan by Dana Hawkins - which is quite underrated I think but such a great sweet well-written sapphic romance 🤗
*sighs* adds more books to my TBR Your wrap ups always end up convincing me to try books I overlooked the first few times I came across them or never even saw. Expanding my horizons lol
I'm so glad you liked The Library On Mount Char (and had the same issues with it), I love weird, bizarre stories like that. If you want more weird stuff I recommend Leonora Carrington's complete stories, it's a bunch of funny, strange surrealistic tales, I had so much fun reading them.
im obsessed with the library on mount char. i read it maybe 3 years ago and still thinking about it. as far as i know the author hasn’t written anything else other than a couple computer text books.
Please please please do a video on how you review books. Your reviews are always so well thought out and eloquent. I would love to get insight into your thought process when you're reviewing a book

If you have time or the want for it, would love to hear you talk even more at length about specific novels. Hope this month is a great one for you!
Ugh I was reading Scythe as it came out and I looooved it more than I can put into words. I’m so excited you’re getting into it. I think the 2nd book is by far the absolute best 2nd book of any series I’ve ever read. It lives in my head rent free. I actually just picked Scythe back up as a reread/buddy read to get out of a slump (The Winners ruined me and my brain is mush still). I WILL say I absolutely agree with the main character critique; they’re by far the weakest link in Scythe but I do think, especially in the sequels, you get just the BEST secondary characters. So well written, so fleshed out. By far my favorite parts of the series.
i aspire to speak as effortlessly as you do. that might be a weird compliment but i wish my thoughts were so crystal clear and organised, i truly need 20 seconds of reflection before opening my mouth

I definitely recommend reading the whole Scythe series! The development of the thunderhead and characters get more complex so its interesting to see how it all ends.
so thankful to hear your thoughts on the paper palace because my book club were obsessed and I felt guilty in my reactions and didn't get to share my thoughts that session. I do think that there is this attitude that reading emotionally difficult things is in of itself a marker of being "well read"

I would have expected you to be a very large TH-camr because you are brilliant and I love hearing your thoughts. Genuinely I believe within a few years you’ll be at 1M+ Keep up the great work ♥️
I really enjoyed Scythe! I felt the need to tell everyone around me at the time because of how fresh it felt, and how I felt it encapsulated the concept of what makes a dystopia... a dystopia. Looking forward to seeing your thoughts on the rest of the series!
Scythe was actually the book that got me back into reading a few years back. Easily one of my favorite trilogies. I also wasn’t the biggest fan of the main characters at first, never really liked the girl. But the guy over time grew on me. I agree though, I was mainly more involved in the side characters, even the first main scythe they bring in I enjoyed more than most characters. I hope you enjoy it!
