HIGHLY recommend Anxious People by Fredrik Backman. It’s hilarious, which is so rogue from the writer who brought us Beartown, but also so tender and still comes with all the wisdom and depth that you’d expect from him.

Ugh I was reading Scythe as it came out and I looooved it more than I can put into words. I’m so excited you’re getting into it. I think the 2nd book is by far the absolute best 2nd book of any series I’ve ever read. It lives in my head rent free. I actually just picked Scythe back up as a reread/buddy read to get out of a slump (The Winners ruined me and my brain is mush still). I WILL say I absolutely agree with the main character critique; they’re by far the weakest link in Scythe but I do think, especially in the sequels, you get just the BEST secondary characters. So well written, so fleshed out. By far my favorite parts of the series.

Neal Shusterman alterted my brain chemistry as a teen with his books from two other series Unwind another YA dystopia a near future where the technology for organ transplants has progressed so that 99.44% of the body can be used and parents can sign over for children ages 13-18 to be "unwound" and the main characters are a juvenile delinquent who's being unwound by his parents, a ward of the state being unwound to cut costs, and a kid being unwound as a tithe from his family. And Everlost a YA fantasy where children who get lost on the journey to the afterlife and end up basically as ghosts on Earth stuck between life and death and they're trying to find a way to pass on. Definitely recommend both of those

Are you planning to do more recap videos? I love your other 2 and constantly rewatch them.

yes they just take a lot of work and aren't worth it for books i don't have strong opinions on...so it can take some time to find the next project but there will be more for sure!

I made this month into a marathon of Ali Hazelwood`s books. Unintentionally, but still. Now all my friends are subjected to me screaming how much i love women in STEM and how i love Ali bc she writes about them so well

Typically I agree with you but I loved paper palace 😂😂 but I see your point, it’s kind of egregious. At the time I devoured it.

I had a MAJOR reading slump after the Arc of a Scythe series because it was so amazing and I loved it so much that nothing else I picked up could even compare at all for like a year after 😭 so I just kept rereading them lol

i think you would really love "last true poets of the sea". YA loose retelling of "twelfth night", focuses on a teen girl sent to live in a seaside town with her uncle after her younger brother's attempt. really emotional and lovely, has some amazingly heartwarming moments and great characters

I haven’t read scythe yet (it’s on my tbr) but I was able to meet Neil (the author) earlier this year and he had VERY interesting things to say about AI that i absolutely love. Just that AI physically can’t be evil, it is an entirely unbiased tool, it’s how people use it that makes it good or bad. He also told the story that inspired the book, which was centered around the death of (I think?) his mother to cancer, and that emotional core I think gives what he want to say a deeper aspect.

You should definitely read the Mindf*ck series. It’s so good and would love to hear your thoughts😂. It’s fem fatale and serial killer and I feel like things just made sense in this. And it was such a vibe!
