i feel like people that live and obsess over books like Icebreaker, anything Coleen Hoover, or twisted love series are people that simply skipped their WattPad era when they were 12 years old…. its the only explanation. They must experience this in order to move on to better things
Andy Weir is one of my favorite authors ever specifically because of the way he writes science/scientists. It's so detailed and well-researched, but I never get lost or feel stupid. He has a way of explaining things that reminds me of the nicest science teacher you had in early high school, just super friendly and meeting you where you are with your civilian knowledge, without feeling patronizing or condescending at all. The Martian is like that too -- scientific in a way that makes you feel smart for being able to follow it, but not hard to follow at all. Fucking love that guy.
"and never once did I even TIPTOE around a major that required me to take another math class." - LMAO I legit choked on my coffee 😂 I just finished a math class and the amount of times I asked myself, 'do I even really need this degree?' I'm surprised I even finished. Felt that. love your videos
@@Labinzel oh no! Don't do that! I heard statistics isn't as bad as a fundamental math course but I've never taken it so I could be really wrong about that. YOU CAN DO IT!

I loved Icebreaker when I read it, but I read it before it went viral and so I had zero expectations and went into it blind. But I recognize that it had no plot honestly and it did drive me insane that she somehow wasn’t aware of how her partner treated her. And the “bub” drove me absolutely insane. But I read icebreaker in one sitting at like 2am and it gave me reading wattpad vibes too but in like a nostalgic way 😂
if it makes you feel better, I (as a woman in STEM) am ALSO afraid to read Sci-fi books 😂 i also say this despite the fact that Red Rising is one of my favorite series of all time
17:11 you expressed my thoughts on Emily Henry perfectly: even if they weren't my favourite couple (doormat heroines give me the ick and wyn was bland), the way the book is written and *the vibes* makes the whole reading experience amazing
very excited for the upcoming deep dive on the twisted series. truly, twisted lies continues to be even more unhinged than twisted love. i hate read them out of spite and still can’t pretend it wasn’t deeply entertaining, much to my chagrin.
I’m impressed by your ability to start and finish series. I can not for the life of me move from Book 1 to book 2. I need to read something else in between. 😅
If you think Icebreaker has a paper thin plot, you should read the next book Wild Fire. I skimmed the last 150 pages desperately trying to make it end 😂 it was like some random person I don’t like retelling every minute detail of the summer that they worked at a camp. No climax or major conflict to overcome, just a string of random events
i also read circe in november and honestly same 😭 i feel like madeline miller did an incredible job breaking us and then putting us back together in the span of 330 pages

I am so glad that you liked Project Hail Mary! Science fiction is my go-to genre, but that book is still one of my favorites. If you want to read more hard science fiction like PHM, Andy Weir's The Martian is in a similar vein of approachable, but still scientifically grounded. If you like the surprisingly heartwarming nature of it, then I'd recommend literally anything by Becky Chambers, though her work is more soft sci-fi. For classics, The Left Hand of Darkness is amazing, but challenging to get into. There's also a great feminist series called Venus of Dreams from the 80s which is about the multi-generational project of terraforming Venus. So excited that you're interested in reading more sci-fi because I think it's such an amazing genre!
I've only just started reading Becky Chambers, but A Psalm for the Wild Built and A Prayer for the Crown Shy were just so good I wanted to explode. They were so sweet and cozy, but also poignant and made me teary sometimes. I can't wait till I start the Wayfarer's series!!

i haven’t read a good girl’s guide to murder but the thing i find so weird is that there are two versions. the author is english and so the real version is set in england with english references but then they published an american version set in the us. i find it so weird as an english person like did the publishers think americans aren’t capable of reading books set outside of the us?😭
Fredrik Backman is one of my favorite authors !!! I’ve read 4 of his books (including Beartown) and Anxious People is by far my favorite. I would highly recommend reading that one next !!

The fact that the first twist in the last book was so predictable only for the second one to come and be the definition of unhinged is still my favorite thing about the entire series 😂
Fredrik Backman is one of my most favourite writers . He has such a beautiful way of giving you a warm ( and much needed ) hug through his words/books .you should also read:- “an man called Ove “and “Anxious people . “ if you haven’t read them ♥️
Glad to see Beartown getting some attention. But the fear I sat on in the years between Us Against You and The Winners because of that bit of foreshadowing...
I was really surprised when the first book turned out to be the book I read in Swedish class last year. I personally didn’t enjoy it that much but I’m glad you did. :D
Love your videos and your energy around TikTok books 😂 I’m sorry if this is weird, but as someone who’s had severe long covid for three years now, I highly caution against exercising for 4-6 weeks after recovering. Mine started similar & it was the 1-month yoga challenge exertion that kicked it up for me. A lot of other LCers have a similar story. Once again, sorry for being overbearing. Don’t wanna tell you what to do with your body. But there’s so little information about it everywhere, so I don’t wanna stay silent on it.

The fact that the first twist in the last book was so predictable only for the second one to come and be the definition of unhinged is still my favorite thing about the entire series 😂
Everything you said about Icebreaker is SO spot on😩
Fredrik Backman is one of my most favourite writers .
Stopped to read the beginning of Beartown after your description of it, and wow I am glad that you recommended it, I'm loving it so far! Also the new vids have all been great, so glad I subscribed :)
@newlynova I'm about 2/3 of the way through and am still so engaged!
As someone who was a PJO kid who is now a woman in her 20s, Circe was literally everything I needed in life. Im so glad you liked it!!
That was an interesting watch. I hope you feel better soon / are feeling better now, and have a sick-free December!
