You can also just plug your phone in to the camera directly using a USB data cable or whatever the USB to Apple phone connector cable is. You can read the Dashcam storage directly on your phone through a file manager app and transfer files fast and easy.
I'm surprised manufacturers haven't added a usb port on the rear view mirror to provide power to a dash cam yet. Or just provide a dash cam as standard. Yes, it's potentially more data being sold. But if the recordings were only local and on SD cards I think that would be acceptable to most. It's kinda frustrating that we are now in the days of requiring footage to fight insurance fraud and support claims. Clever idea to pull power from the rear view mirror!
That would be a huge benefit if they did provide power options from the manufacturer. Toyota actually does sell an "OEM" dealer added accessory dash cam that is nice, but albeit overpriced. Unfortunate but cheap insurance in case something does happen! -Austin
@@teamoildropthere is already something on the market called fitcam x which uses the existing stock housing or a convincingly similar stock modified housing around the rear view mirror and gets power from it too. it is a bit pricey but they sell it for various make/models of vehicles. the drawback is you have to use their dashcam, so you can’t pick and choose but the advantage is that it is nearly invisible to thieves and vandals.
a comparison to the mini 2 would help since both are 1080p. initial impressions to me are: it looks like the only main differences are it’s usb c now, the addition of the built in polarising filter, and the horizontal orientation. was hoping with an new model, that picture would improve, especially considering how long the mini has been out. also the barrel holding the lend looks 3d printed now. if that’s the case, i am questioning the material’s durability over time in the heat and uv sun.
FYI another easy way to transfer files is you can connect your iphone with phones charging cable directly to the camera and download the files that way as well, works with android as well
I like the size and don’t care about plugging it into my dash since I swap vehicles frequently. Can it capture license plates somewhat in the day or is the image quality too low?
This is the connector for the 3rd gen Tacoma and it does require your truck to have an existing power plug to the review mirror in order to steal power from it. amzn.to/4gAXaMC The overhead area should allow for you to tap power from the dome lights, there just isn’t anything as nice for the models that did not come with a powered mirror from the factory. -Austin

yes if you don't purchase the additional cable that hooks up to your OBD2 port then it will turn off when the truck is off. That OBD cable will allow it to run while the truck is off. -Austin

I love your reviews man, you focus right on the subject, save viewers time by cutting extra bs and reviewing goog quality items.
I appreciate that!
Simple. Informative. Thank you!
Glad to hear it! Happy to help.

Nice review man. Hit all the key points and shared a lot of video footage both day and night.
Thanks! Glad you found it helpful.

If you don't have the power rear view mirror, is that harness still in there to connect to? I have a 2019 SR
