One thing to remember. You sighted in on warm barrel and in a hunting situation you will almost always be shooting off a cold bore. Go back after the barrel has had plenty of time to cool and recheck the zero. It can be off a good bit and that cold bore shoot is the one you are depending on.
You could save a lot of ammo by taking one shot. And then just moving your reticle to the point of impact. I sight all my guns at 50 yards with 2 shots and then 1 or 2 more shots at 100.
Are you guessing the windage adjustment? I don’t see you counting based on how far are you from the target at 50 yds. 1/4 MOA scope at 00 yds, at 50 yds is twice as much clicks .
I have the same set up. I take an 60-80yard archery target and put 1 inch grids. It makes sighting quick and simple just count the squares then count the clicks. I got my gun sighted in with 6 shots. I'm super happy how this rig shoots it is a tack driver out to 300 yards which is my limit on the farm.
Have the same gun but 7.62x39. Take some of your scope lapping cream and put it on receiver in back and before where lugs lock and put a nice long 30 min TH-cam video on and cycle action 500-600 times then clean good. Will glide like a old Remington from custom shop after. One of my best actions now
The only question I have is what gr of Hornady TSX bullet is the CDS cap calibrated for? Not all bullets have the same drop it depends on their weight, charge etc.
I just bought that particular scope for my for .450 bushmaster wondering if you still like that particular scope or if it's got some down fall? I am getting it mounted this weekend when I get the time. Love the color camo on the gun.
John McParland Jr after getting used to it I do love it, shot a few does this past season and gun was amazing, scope worked pretty good in low light. Yeah for the money I saved from going to a different store I spent it on the camo, my favorite gun that I have, although I would recommend ear plugs when you shoot it, when harvesting deer this was the only gun that kept ringing in my ears for days after it seemed like
When I shot one the kick wasn’t bad at all. Looks same when your shoot. I’ve been watching others talk like it kicks like a mule like 12ga and I didn’t think so. Who knows lol
The recoil is 22 lbs which is quite a bit more than a lot of other calibers. That said, it doesn’t bother me. I mounted the Magpul Hunter stock which added some weight and absorbs more of the recoil and improves accuracy.
Nope not at all, shot many deer this past season with it all the way out to 150 yards and it was deadly accurate, I didn’t sinch the barrel down as much as the video shows
I sighted it in at 100, I believe if you do that and use the FTX bullets then your on at 300 using the VX freedom scope with cds dial made for those bullets
@@GARRETT_GARAGE OK thank you. I'll do that. I really like tge scope. It's the clearest scope I've ever looked through. I sighted it in at a 100 yards. I just don't use the cds dial
Have you tested out that CDS dial out to 200, 250 and 300yds? I’m considering getting the ranch model and the same scope but would like to know how accurate that dial is
@@jeremyjames249 I haven’t had much luck with the CDS turrets. They’re close but I’d never trust them right out of the box without confirming each distance with your given load. I shoot ELR and I’ve yet to see a factory ballistic chart that was actually accurate enough for anything other than getting close
Awesome stuff. I picked up the same layout but with a 22 barrel. I still need to mount my scope but man I'm excited to get it sighted in and fill my freezer here in Ohio this season. What size mounts did you go with? Looks like you have plenty of room between the scope and the rifle.
Bro…. It’s Hornady, not Hornaday. I realize even their employees say it that way but their commercials don’t so obviously it’s Hornady not Hornaday. Rant over lol why do Midwest folks add a letter to it?

Wow I've never thought about that. Thank you for sharing ! I'm gonna have to do that when sighting in b4 this upcoming deer season.

Highly recommend the timmney drop in trigger its only $150, You wont regret it. I have the same in 350 with the 22" barrel holding 1" groups at 300
Super exciting. You might want to talk about what you're doing

Try straping your gun Vise down to keep it in one spot from moving . A friend told me to try it. It helped

I haven’t shot it out that far yet but I want to!

Agreed it’s nice and smooth now!

It's a 250 grain bullet

Try replacing the comp with a thread saver.
Try a linear comp pushes blast and sound forward away from you
Shorter barrels are more accurate? What? Since when?
I can tell you're a man who takes care of his stuff!
Thanks! I try my best to!

Where did you get you get that rifle 16 go wild
Local gun store to me, not a big name store
I cannotnfind the 16" in go wild anywhere! I NEED one before December 2021. Any recommendations?
Good luck…I’ve been on a “contact me when back in stock” list for the regular rifle in both .450 Bushie and .300 Blackout for months now…no joy
After you removed the barrel strap on your rifle to the bench vice did your zero change?
Nope not at all, shot many deer this past season with it all the way out to 150 yards and it was deadly accurate, I didn’t sinch the barrel down as much as the video shows
Did the action ever loosen up?
Yes it’s smooth now
GOOD VIDEO,WHAT AMMO I'M FINDING OUT IT MAKES A HUGE DIFFENCE IN SLUG GUNS
I personally use the Hornady FTX ammo, it’s what that scope was made for. Love it
What height is your weaver mounts? Low? Medium?
I believe they are medium, not low
What scope rings?
This is a good example on how not to sight your rifle 😂
I just bought the same setup but with a longer barrel. What are you going to zero your at ? Like 2 inches high at a 100 yards ?
I sighted it in at 100, I believe if you do that and use the FTX bullets then your on at 300 using the VX freedom scope with cds dial made for those bullets
Could this scope be used on my 30.30 with QR rings and also be used on a .22 rifle?
I'm sure the scope could be. I believe if you tell Leupold what gun, caliber and ammo you are using, they can make a CDS dial for you.
@@GARRETT_GARAGE I have this scope on a axis 308. I bought the gun that way. Do you know if the cds can be modified to better fit the 308?
@@deloachgator251 not modified the way it is. You would have to call leupold like I stated above and they should be able to help you!

I'm sorry I had my local shop install them since they gave me a deal. I cannot find the boxes
Have you tested out that CDS dial out to 200, 250 and 300yds? I’m considering getting the ranch model and the same scope but would like to know how accurate that dial is
I have not. Have been super busy this year and didn't have time to test it yet.
@@GARRETT_GARAGE ok thanks, if you do sometime can you post a video of the CDS dial?

why were you taping all over your scope
Bad habit from junk scopes

Jacob Diller I’ll have to check back with you on that, I believe they were MM and not standard
What does tapping the scope do?
Bad habits of dealing with junk scopes on old .22s don’t recommend
are those medium or low rings?
Can’t remember I had my local shop put on a set they had
I put high rings on mine
Great video man, I just had to give you a hard time lol
Did your action ever smooth out , or is it still sticking?
Action is super smooth now, just needed to cycle it for a while
Nothing like turning a stupid tractor off
Sorry man battery was dead so had to keep it running. It’s since been fixed!
first off it's a rifle not a gun, and second it's pronounced LOOpold.
First off it’s a firearm, second I could care less. Make some content then ya troll. But thanks for the view 😂
This was painful to watch. Basic math would have saved you a lot of ammo

Us michiganders have our own words at times 😂
Why do you folks date your cousins? 😅
