Any rumours on Kenwood bringing the Navigation version to Australia? I know that google maps through CarPlay works very well but I like integrated nav as well.
I purchased a BELSEE 12.5, 1 year ago. It looked used and out of date. Has the old 8.0 android and the unit doesn't work with the steering wheel controls. Terrible support from the company. Are you able to use the steering wheel controls with your application???.. thank you for sharing. Daniel
Hello, I just recently have this unit installed on my 2016 Tacoma. But the unit is annoyingly rattling. Any suggestion to how to prevent the rattling sound?
Hey mate, I would be asking whomever installed it as I have never had one rattle. It may be interfering with the dash facia, or rubbing on something inside the dash
No not yet, it should be compatible with the unit (9720 is an aus release so may not be added yet) but its the car compatibility thats the issue at the moment as they are designed for us cars. I will make a video as soon as there is something available 🙂
@@wickswirescaraudioandfabri7730 I see on the Kenwood firmware update site for the DMX9720XDS the new April update firmware version for Australia, Improved iDataLink Function. (Covered areas: Oceania) S_V1_3_0003_1200 hope it works for Toyota Hilux :-)
The new Stinger heigh10 (10" version of the Elev8) has optical out too, and looks very much like the kenwood screen you guys installed.. Loving these videos Jay! :)
Hey boys great video and very helpful. I own a Mazda 3 MPS 2013, to remove the A plastic pillar isn’t easy due a retainer clip/strap that’s fiddly to unclip. Can I skip DAB + antenna connection and connect just the factory car antenna to the unit. Cheers 🤙🏻
You don't need to connect it, but of course you will have no dab at all. If you search TH-cam for a video im sure you will find something to guide you in removing the A-pillar trim. You will find that they may be the same as another Mazda 🙂
Actually had this idea years ago and almost did it, ended up installing an ipad instead. I currently have a Samsung tablet moulded into my dash as well so it can be done 🙂
Does anyone know how far the screen comes down past the double din opening at its highest setting adjustment? Don't want to buy it to find out it hits my air con knobs below. I've got about 20-25mm of room below the opening. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the product update. Just got a pre-loved, stock 14 Fj and looking to begin upgrades. Any chance Sam is willing to share his list of FJ upgrades? One of the best looking front bars i've seen to-date. And I've spent hours checking on reviews with none that I can admit truly look like they integrate to suit the look of the vehicle. The Kenwood is also a new addition to my shopping list. thnx John
I would love to give you the full list but I know its a kilometer long at this stage hahaha. Basically everything you can do within reason. There are 2 sides to the story on this one as the electrical system alone has just as many if not more hours in it, and that isn't including the stereo lol. Are you more interested in the electrical or body and mechanical upgrades?
Front bar is a TJM (Australia) T13 Outback bar. There are a few brands in Aus that make decently "integrated" bullbars. TJM, Uneek and ECB for a start.
Would you please send a link to the speakers that stick out of the dash. I believe they are Hybrid Audio. Did you make the housing? Do they fit in perfectly? Thank you for your help. Trying to upgrade my 2013 FJ system.
Sure mate 🙂 hybrid.audio/product/legatia-x3/ Yes they were made from scratch and do fit perfecly. It was made using the factory speaker grill from the top of the dash 🙂
Not a problem mate glad you enjoyed it 🙂 There are a couple of different ways you can run video. First is wireless mirroring, this can have mixed connectivity depending on phone. It's generally better on Samsung's with smart view and a few other decent brands. Not sure it the iPhone can do it at all, there was an app for usb mirroring but Apple stopped it from working. The other way is to use the hdmi port in the back. You can either run it out and use an adapter on your phone or ecen just plug a chromecast in and use that 🙂
@@wickswirescaraudioandfabri7730 awesome! So your saying with android mirroring, you can watch whatever you're watching on your phone on the head unit? This is fantastic as I ams an Android (Samsung) user 👌

Great discussion... I needed to see it in place. Looks like I’m going to go with the DNR1007XR, Focal Utopia M, and Audio Control D-6.1200... should make for a good front of cab set up.... Currently have full JL Audio 4 10” 2 Hd 750/1, C5 6.5” 1 Hd 600/4, will be moving the C5 5.25” to the rear of the cab.
Nice!! Thanks for watching mate 😊😊 I would do yourself a favour and have a look into the helix P6 while your sussing out. We are just about to do a new corolla with utopia m 3 way a p6 and a p1 with a helix q15w, should be super epic 😉
Hey fellas, where did you get the info on the upcoming 2021 Alpine products? I'd love to look into them, coz I agree, I'd pay scary money for this Kenwood if it had a digital output. A volume knob, LDAC, DSD, 14 band PEQ + 13 band GEQ, HDMI in etc etc they really nailed it!! I wish it had a generic OBD2 reader too, missed opportunity. But I want to see what else is coming out before I drop $$ on this. Cheers
The AKM factory burning to the ground definitely didn't help the release of new products thats for sure haha. There are some big things coming from alpine this year, still undisclosed what exactly is coming.... but a little thing called F1 Status could be back 😉
hello love your video im exactly thinking of getting this for my fj but wanted to ask ive had ford Bronco, and chevy tahoe both had systems kind of like that but i always had problems with the alternator and or the battery how do you guys do it?
Cool unit, was looking at them just last week and this vid answered a couple of things i was wondering about. Might put one in my Amarok once funds allow, will go nicely with the Hybrid Audio and Helix treatment i gave it this week.
Someone definitely did haha 🤦♂️🤦♂️ you didn't miss out on anything, the resolution was pretty bad. It was almost better to just look at the mirror 🤣 Interesting. Thanks for that, I thought the 9720 was an aus only version 🤔
My reverse camera is stuck in a split screen view with a massive black line thru one side, any ideas it was working fine with the previous head unit… I really don’t want to have to fit a whole new camera 😩
I enjoyed this as Jay looks like one of those guys who actually enjoys his job. So after watching the entire video I am thinking I want one of these units. So I followed the links below to the Phatt audio concepts website and, well, its lovely and all that, but no clear information about installation services or products. Perhaps I'm a little out of the loop. I am now thinking its a high end place and probably too classy (expensive) for my pedestrian budget. I also have to admit complete ignorance into what the FJ owner actually has in the back of his Car. Holy shit. Whatever that was, man it looked wonderful and expensive. I only have draws, toilet paper and a fridge. Anyway , for fear of being laughed at, what would the cost of an installation be for the same head unit in a stock Fj?
Hey Paul, I definitely love what I do thats for sure 🙂 Yes there is definitely a lot of audio stuff in that FJ hahaha. We do everything from a $200 headunit to super big custom build's at Phatt audio, so we can cater to all budget's. Give the shop a call, and we can talk about pricing and options if you're not too far away 🙂
There are several full android 9 and 10 headunits with optical out for 1/3 the cost of this. If your not gonna use the cheap onboard amp, dsp, dac then sound should r amazing. Might not have wireless android but then again since it charges phone thats ok.

What brand are the speaker pods?
Great pick! Absolutely hate head units with digital volume knobs
I do love a good analog knob myself haha
Will this screen affect the JBL sound system?? Or is it better or worse?
