  • Confession- I love to grocery shop. I can spend an hour or two just going up and down the aisles to discover new foods. Picking up random new items, reading the packaging (or at least trying to with my limited Portuguese).
I was finally able to discover Continente and let me tell you, it's absolutely amazing! The whole store was extremely organized, very clean and spacious. I was even able to find items that I have been searching for (such as hard taco shells and jarred jalapeños). If Target and Wegmans had a baby, it would be Continente. You can find everything from foods to household goods, beauty products, school supplies and more. It's definitely my new favorite grocery store!

The shops inside the city are not supposed to be big, they are convenience stores, for your everyday needs. If you plan to go and shop weekly or monthly you're better off on those outside the city center like that Continente one or the Pingo Doce Tornada or even ELeclerc. Hope you enjoy your stay

Do you feel like we still wish you had packEd school supplies once you found a continent? Are the prices reasonable? Similar to target?

Tough question. Selections are limited and slightly more expensive. However, if you’re deciding between school supplies and something else, then I might choose the other option. You can find everything your child will need.

Your family of 5 receipt is my 1 person. But, I live in an area with limited grocery options, and my closest store is Whole Paycheck (Foods). I buy some seasonal produce at the farmers market on the weekend. Cali, Bay Area prices. I can see, I’ll spend less in Portugal, once I get set up.

Awesome! There’s 2 of them there. Was that the southern one? I think it’s the bigger one.

This is the one in the north (not the bom dia one). I believe it’s the bigger one.

Glad you show the prizes. Pots and pans look really expensive? some are 30 euros plus?

I believe those pots and pans are Portuguese brands. I do see lots of people buying cookware from IKEA, but I think it all depends on your budget and how often you cook.

@@josieinportugal6454 Are they roughly about the same prizes as the US?

@@i0r-r-tjtkttl I would say it all depends on the quality and brand you’re comparing it to. I purchased one today. It’s a small simmering pot for 25 euros (stainless steel) and I must say, it is well worth the money. It kept the food extremely warm even after taking it off the stove. I was amazed. Very durable and I feel like it will last a long time.

@@josieinportugal6454 thanks, but overall it seems the cockware is more pricey.

At Continente you can make the customer card and then you get frequent discounts, some that are not immediate but on later purchases. There is an application for your cell phone with which you can control all the card's activity.
