Ever wondered the price of groceries in Portugal? Let's check it out! How do prices compare to your country?
I want to make this video too, compare the price of salami (1.59) for the cheapest no brand and donuts (1.25), I've seen those rise by nearly 60cents to a 1 euro per. Cornflakes has always been expensive but haven't checked in many years.
When i bought my house in Portugal, I drove directly from the notary to Lidl, got the essentials,, Cola and toilet paper! and then drove to my new house. 😁
You forgot the peen!
I was very surprised as well as happy to find so much vegan food in Lidl. Also the prices are great compared to the US.
LIDL is the best shop for affordable food. Its our weekly go-to. Hope you're well.
Prices seem lower then here in Belgium. Building and inside look the same😊
This and the 'bills' video... Fanbloodytastic boyo! It's great to see the everyday side of life I'm soooo looking forward to 😀 thanks boys you little diamonds 😀
I live in the states so I'm looking at your prices and some of them aren't bad others are but that's like everywhere we go
We have Aldi's in the United States I go in there once in awhile end up buying too much but I like to try a different things
Thanks for the video, Lidl is the best for groceries
I have a Lidl just across my apartment building. Very convenient.
Great, really helpful video. Thanks very much? 😊
Follow the Lidl, Lidl, Lidl, Follow the Lidl. Here we go!
On balance these prices are about 20 to 25% cheaper than Canada. The margarine is the only thing that is cheaper in Canada and the Beef prices are similar
Thanks!
Thank you!
Left a proper comment but for some reason only that came out lol soon as I can leave boat safely I will be over & have a cuppa with you all 😀😀@@theportugeeza
@@Jackie..TheHumbleCrafter Looking forward to it!
Thankyou
We had to weigh our veg in one shop, might have been Pingo Doce...
There is a slight possibility that I may be outing myself as not being the guy who usually does the grocery shopping! 😅
Sir, you seem to be a reasonably frugal individual. What would you say is your monthly expenses for a family of four? I am looking towards Portugal as a alternative to US real estate prices madness.

Continente (hipermercados, not modelo or Bom dia) and all Pingo Doce stores I have been to, have weighing machines that print price tickets. Whether it is obligatory or not, I do not know, but I use them. Some people would think that Portugal has cheap grocery prices. It depends what your basis is. Immediately before coming here, I lived in Thailand and my food (fruit, veg, eggs meat etc) costs more than doubled. I have 20 euro a month free in Lidl and Aldi with a card, so i do venture there. However, I tend to prefer PD overall for price and quality. Auchan has the lowest prices of all for most products, but the quality is not there in many cases. With the supermarkets here, you have to take advantage of discounts and promotions to stock up and gain extra credit. The Pingo Doce, spend 100 get 20 credit for PD and another 20 for BP is about the best one.
Yes... it's definitely relative... I lived in Hong Kong for over a decade before here and I feel supermarkets here are more expensive for most things...
Yeah but remember most of those groceries that you bought back from were you lived are banded from being sole in the EU just like lot's of American products because of how and what is being added our chemical treatment basically you get healthier products in Europe besides what you're buying would be twice our three times more expensive shoot even four times more expensive than back in the USA trust me on this I know it lived and got tons of family in the states my brother is about to visit this Saturday and he will say the same thing 😂
@@antoniodasilva1230 I do not really buy processed or packaged foods. Most of what I purchase is fresh vegetables with a little meat and a lot of eggs. I do not agree that EU food is any safer. Most of the safety arguments made by the EU are in fact just trade protectionism disguised as public health concern. The EU has as big a problem with things like pesticide residue as most other places, for example and the whole GM crop rejection is an article of faith devoid of any evidence. The food available if SE Asia is generally much fresher and tastier than the stuff you buy in Pingo Doce. I am not familiar with the situation in the USA. Last time I was there was 1999 and I was coming from the UK. I thought everything there was super cheap. Now, I have no idea what I would think.
That looks like Viseu.
Not far... Oliveira do Hospital
no prices for prepared meals
Actually, there's not much range here compared to other countries we've lived in... we buy vegetarian lasagna for about 2.50 Euros per serving... seems about the average price... So different to England where there is a looooot more choice for ready meals.
Lidl in the Netherlands is cheaper...how bizarre!
Wow! I didn't expect that!
Have you and your wife and children learn Portuguese yet I'd like to learn languages some different countries if I'm going to them
We are having lessons!
