this comment is so good that i now desperately want to see a situation like this but in RL so i can say it and make people think i'm super clever.
The funny thing is that he would Have absolutely demolished protoss if he went full bronze league and spammed battlecrusiers.
He had better eco for like 80% of game with thousands of resources in bank
He already got +3 air atk and fusion core for his libs
The reason why he lost is entirely due to him not knowing what to do against distruptors.
So all he needed to do was just spam air and laugh at stalkers because stalkers are only anti air this toss can have and etalkers are not good enough against greater volume of air units than single digit liberators.
But instead this man repeatedly fed soldiers to glowing balls or run away so fast that his liberators are free pickups

2:30 The Phoenix and the Oracle are both from Greek mythology. So if you want to know if your opponent might build them, you just need to know whether the match is set in Greek mythology. Thankfully, Terrans have an easy trick to do that: You see, Hercules is also from Greek mythology. So if you can't build a Hercules, that means that Greek mythology isn't active, so you don't need to worry about Phoenixes and Oracles.
By the way, the Zerg can check this, too, by seeing if Hydras are available.

Can we talk about how good hamster’s edits are in this episode. While it is a different editing style than usual iodis videos I think it fit so well. The off the wall artosis having a stroke clips paired with “do you have time to talk about our lord and savior disruptor.” Moment. I think this is an amazing style that would be amazing to see more of!

The actual crazy thing about this was during the crazy drop in the main, he got 2 robo's and a robo bay at 12:16. The toss didn't have other splash than robo-tech the entire game and didn't finish REBUILDING THE ROBO-BAY UNTIL 16:32. That was over 4 mins where the terran could've just sniped the tech units and rolled over his opponents pure gateway, but instead he sits back.
Isn’t it weird how that always happens? “Well I’m maxed, better use this time to secure my 11th command centre” I also love how he’s up 90 supply and sees like 3 disruptors and runs for his life 😂
TBF the tech units were all in a ball that he just could not go anywhere near without getting blasted by distruptors.
Yoloing to snipe distruptors is risky in the sense that you need non-trivial chunk of bio to kill it fast enough. If you lose enough of them too quickly, it's a tell for protoss that bio ball is small enough to attack into. Then after you lose the whole army the game instantly snowballs out of control. That was what the Terran was really trying to avoid. Hence the so few attacks.
Terran flying 12k resources, has 130 supply and his whole production is armor lvl 1. And he complains about something being imba :D

do you know which specific terran school this is? I only remember one where he opens with 2 reaper 1 hellion for a scout and some guaranteed kills.
Thought the same thing, but had a different build in mind. The one with 2 hellions and 3 reapers. He only did 2 reapers 1 hellion right? NVM, the all-inn is with that composition. The macro is done like this (opening-wise)

The number of liberators sieging from the wrong side in this game is just hilarious. They are often positioned so vulnerably.

Disrupters might not be OP at top play levels, but I think you can make the argument that they are incredibly punishing to make a mistake against in a way that makes learning to play against them much harder than learning to play with them. I submit that that makes them overpowered at certain locations in the learning curve.

AOE units are always harder to play against than with. Siege tanks, Widow Mines, Colossus, Disrupter, etc. all require more effort to kill than use.

Its difficult to quantify something as OP if players are too lazy to learn the basics of how units work. This game is a great example - the reason he ate Novas was because he didn't know that if you run away from a Nova you have to Stim... or you can't run away lol. In that sense Disruptors look underpowered to me - because this guy made it to top Masters with such a massive hole in his knowledge of the basics, and he STILL WON this game several times - he just refused to finish it. Just went AFK and went for nukes and a bunch of other stupid stuff.
Has a Terran player I really appreciate Harstem giving me that extra few seconds.

This was, in D&D terms, a high int low wis player.
He knows a lot, but lacks the perception to adapt to a game.
I know a guy like this. Legit impresses me with the ability to show his knowledge, but lacks the understanding to apply it in the most effective way.
The "Mistborn" saga is a really nice read. If you like Fantasy books, go get it. It is worth it.
Regarding the build: I remember brood wars, back in highschool. I literally had the first 5 minutes of a build written on a piece of paper next to my monitor. If that's what you need just do it. Especially now when you have guys like you and Thermal.
Kelsier is from Brian Sanderson's Mistborn book series.

Terrans just want to rush bio and then do that for the entire game and never build late tier units. He did build ghosts which are good and useful but not as useful against disruptors as air. I always have trouble maximizing liberators. I think they are good for mineral line harass and especially for defense but maybe not on offense, moving around and such.
Thsi game is so frustrating, if any other player had half his army on the enemy main defending and left his entire economy undefended, they would lose but this guy could've killed 2 bases on the bottom in 2 seconds but didn't.

Terrans are a different breed. Imagine how much more competent they'd be if they just deleted lib&tank siege modes. They might actually think about playing offensively then.

No. He did better than average and a 5 is obviously average. Just because he could have done things better does not mean that his micro was literally that of a bronze league hero. He did a good job picking up instead of eating that first disruptor shot in the face. Doesn't matter that the perfect response would have been to snipe it. He did well to avoid it and well is above average. You are too focused on what the perfect response always is that if it isn't a 10 for you then it's a 0... A 0 is not even using interference. A 0 is eating that first nova to the face. He actually did a pretty okay job for a master. A 0 is not stutter-stepping while going deeper into his base to get damage done along the way. I'd say his micro was probably around a 6/10. Above average. He did eat that second nova, and yea MAYBE he should have waited to use those Interference matrices. But honestly, I think you were wrong about that. I think that it was fine to use those then. And just because it wasn't the time you would have done them, and he disagreed with you, doesn't mean you're right. It may very well have been a great time to use them. He isn't as good as you are and probably would have lost a ton of bio while getting hit with Colossus and Purification Novae at the same time. Maybe he would have just picked up and left and not gotten anything done at all, even if it wasn't a lot. I think it's a great psychological victory for him here, and a point where he can start getting on track. But whatever, the point is he was doing FAR better than if he wasn't doing any micro at all. Negative hyperbole isn't going to help him. He needs to know what he's doing right and not told that he's complete garbage, even if he does suck.

And he should have been sending the rest of his giant army right through the center well before he decided to check out. But instead his massive army, 200 to 107 supply, just sits at home doing NOTHING for 44 seconds!!! the phoenix and oracle have in common is they can only attack in 1 direction... Phoenix can only attack air, while the Oracles can only attack ground. Big brains here!

Battle cruisers could have been an idea at some point, but they take a long time to build and if there's too many stalkers they aren't really good anymore. He isn't gonna do helions run by because he plays bio. Mine are good against zealot, not stalkers-colossus-disruptors. Marauders are really good against protoss.
@@simeonpolet1307 but couldn't the battle cruisers, in theory, base race faster with yamatos on nexi to prevent recalls, then stalkers could base race having to blink into siege tanks/bunkers/marauders/medivacs?
i'd of atleast suggested he atleast try to base race at 5k minerals, easier said then done I suppose.
he did a few good early game hellion run bys, perhaps a few more on the undefended flank bases?
marauders are good units, damage and health wise, they just have range/mobility issues. they are so big, and fat, they often doom not just them selves but other units around or behind them as well. And they dont split very efficiently, because they have high ''outer radius'' values in the inner/outer radius data fields.

As soon as terran started continually attacking the one spot he threw the win away. Why don't terrans drop more production down when things are good floating 10k resource while being bullied.
Or just stop making libs and make either BC for yomato on the disruptors or ravens to disable and absolutely smash the protoss. These losses hurt but they are the best learning experiences.
More production yes, Libs are fantastic. Seiging them up backwards in bad locations lol, not so much. BCs a horrible idea, no reason to throw the game. He had it won several times, he just played bad.
Yeah bcs are the quickest easiest way to throw the game bcs they cost way too much and are easy to snipe with stalkers. It hey just aren’t a good idea
@@ferallhamster970 have tanks under the BC ready to smash if they brother to try and snipe. The game is not as simple as one unit beats one unit. There are levels to it.

As a protoss player, I agree disruptors should not exist. But neither should mines or lurkers.
How do mines compare to disruptors tho. They can’t move, they do less damage in a smaller area most likely only once before it dies with less range. The only thing is they can hit air which is basically the best way to defend mutts until they have a single over seer. I get the ghost complaints but idk how mines are the issue compared to disruptors. Also lurkers aren’t too bad. Disruptors do great against them and ghost snipe works fine.

to be honest no matter people suck or not , understanding the game and mechanics , the Disruptors is an OP unit in my opinion , it is not an energy based unit on top of that it requires less micro than defending it , u just shoot the balls and sit back , on the other side if u look away from your screen for half a second you lose half of your army , it is just micro heavy to play against disruptors
I think what people mistake is fun vs op. Disruptors aren't op but they absolutely are not fun. If you get hit by disruptor you did not have fun. If you use disruptor and do not get a hit it is not fun. It's a unit that almost is never fun for anybody except the once in a money shot that the Protoss might get.

The whole point is your opinion doesn't mean anything if you suck, because by definition those people don't know how this game works. The fact you said "look away from your screen" tells me you're at that point... where you have even mastered a build order yet, so IMBA has no quantifiable meaning. Its only low league plebs who think "less micro than defending it" is even remotely an argument. Like this doesn't take into account the risk factor of missing? And that aside, all units should have equal micro? How does that work? 😂Maybe practice spending your money and not getting supply blocked, get out of Plat before saying such whacky stuff.
Guy kept making liberators and each liberator got 1 or 2 shots out before dying. Why did he keep making liberators? Siege tanks would have been better even if he used them the exact same way, siege-ing and leaving them there. Deal a lot more damage to a lot more units, maybe even kill a few. With the amount of bank red had, he could afford to make a line of tanks with his army and whenever disruptor shots came he could retreat the bio while leaving the tanks there, protoss cant follow your units, you can regroup and allow your medivacs to heal your units then attack again.
technically, the disruptor have more range than a tank. But the tank is a lot more punishing to a stalker/disruptor army if it gets to fire a shot.

I'm going to preface this with, I know I suck.
But
Isn't it way easier for Protoss to get value with disruptors than it is to punish it? I've done multi pronged attacks with a great concave and 5 disruptor shots still take out ~50 supply of my army in an instant. And if I try to micro away, the disruptor shot can keep pace with my units so I just end up losing dps anyway.
How do you counter disruptors when you have a ground focused army without a major tech swap?
I'd like the answer for all races, but I play zerg

Hey, I suck as well, the only thing I can say to your question is: Yes. It is exactly like a mine drop or a zergling run by. Relatively low apm to set up vs relatively high apm to defend. That's what Harstem often mentions when talking about this topic. Now, if we think about how to deal with the disruptor: usually u can outmove it since disruptors are slow (like find a new spot to attack). Furthermore, since they are immobile, u can attack them when they cast their nova, especially with stim marauders (if enemy has collossi and u dont wannt stim marines into death). As I said, I am a noob and don't even really play SC2 but maybe this helps.
A great concave can be a-move, its no more difficult than a Nova which has to target and follow any split. The risk of a Nova not hitting is part of the reason Disruptors are not too common Vs Zerg.
Ling flanks & Hive tech Lurkers can still be good once you have enough, but if you don't have Vipers then you can't just sit there with Lurkers, you have to use them offensively which lower league players don't often do.
@@hivetech4903 if you fire like 3 shots in seperate directions at the Terran, they have to back up unless you’re top 10 Gm and can split that. When you back up your army isn’t fighting and if the toss is good their stalkers/ zealots / colossi are still attacking. Also there’s prolly 5-8 disruptors so they can keep doing this.

BC transition tip seems legit. disruptors and DTs can't hit BCs so next time we'll see protoss complain.
Atleast distruptor need micro to use and can kill your own unit rather than liberator which does not need micro, flying and always kill an enemy unit
