How to lose with an A-move army:
1. Move command when attacking.
2. A-move when retreating.
you forgot
3. pretend like your maxed out when half of your army is in production tap.

You see, swarm hosts have a preset kill limit. By sending wave after wave of your own units at them, they will reach their limit and shut down. This was Yuri's strategy, which he was unfortunately unable to execute to completion

Thor production was almost non-stop the entire game but luckily Thor destruction was keeping pace, a dream scenario for one who wishes to piss away over 60k resouces in a game
That tank being sieged up in a defensive building's range was just beautiful.
OBVIOUSLY Yuri is a C&C player, he tried to make the biggest most expensive unit and win with it, then he tries with cool op walking robots, then he move commands the Thors over the locusts to stomp them. Probably the build order was from that game too. That's why he kills the locusts to get exp and promote his units.
I have always been a Yuri fan. (Yuri is Japanese for girls love)
Yuri needs to be inducted into the IODIS hall of fame. Lukareon had horrible some of the worst control I've seen on IODIS, but Yuri still found a way to have even worse control.

honestly at one point I was like "yeah it makes sense to just run the swarm hosts up to the thors, he's probably ready to trade for a better army" but nah, he kept on truckin. I admire it tbh.
It was also very impressive how Yuri "microed" his Thors by switching them into high impact mode to shoot at the Locusts XD
He had to be SURE that each 30HP locust was dead. Double dead.

The quotation marks on the Zerg are because his opponent wasn't living up to swarming since he had so few bases.

A fun idea might be comparing IODIS Games that are similar from two separate complainers. For example there are plenty of Zergs saying mech is imba and terrans saying mech sucks and zerg is imba.
True, that might be interesting.
Mech is IMBA. Anything that takes more work to execute than to deal with is imbalanced by definition at least relative to certain unit comps or matchups.
Of course there’s minutes worth of game time before the Terran can field a proper mech army of like Thor tank lib hellbat/mine through which they are way more vulnerable than bio play
I think the analogy harstem should have used is that swarmhost are like zergified disruptors. You should dodge the attack instead of taking it head on and abuse the cooldown/fight on their side 🗣️
tbh you can't abuse the cooldown because the locust duration is exactly as long as the cooldown. You cannot beat a good swarm host army with ground. You have to get some air.

But then is it imba it unit sucks ass in direct combat and relies on being a bamboozle harassment unit?
Edit: holy fuck the amount of unit this Terran drip fed against unit with that summoned timed unit to fight is fuxking insane.
Man I forgot Swarm Host exists its been so long since I've seen one.
This is something I see often in my rather lower diamond: people gain the upperhand, I barely defend, but they keep throwing waves after waves of the same thing, even after I produce counters, what eventually leads to them losing and crying like the one that sent the replay.
@@tomasotomatothe SH was barely a counter here lol in that first fight the hellbats wandered off to fight like 10 queens while the Thor tank fought locusts alone.

Hyperflight rotor banshees is also a fun/cheaper counter to nydus swarmhosts when not backed by a ton of anti-air

Keeping up such perfect "negative micro" for 25 minutes is actually impressive. Im fairly certain that just attack moving the units across the map like in nexus wars would yield better results.

Maybe Yuri here thinks that swarm hosts function like carriers? As long as he constantly kills the louses, his opponent will run out of minerals and then he can right click on the hosts?
It wouldn't be surprising if he didn't know how they work. No one builds swarmhosts nowadays.

This is incredible, they had enough to win with the first push, if they just kept hellbats in front of the thors instead of losing everything to locusts while hellbats shoot a hatchery
This series is so good! It helps me understand some of my mistakes as well, like running lots of speedlings up a ramp just "hoping" to break through a terran..... Your constant analogies of how they are being stupid is probably my favorite part!
I watched a lot of SC2 in my time. It's the first time ... EVER ... I see a tank killed by Spine Crawlers. That is actually impressive. @ 22:44

Get everyone who has played in tournaments to come up with 3 replays for you that are potentially actually IMBA, would be interesting at this point - maybe we could see a LEGIT/IMBA stamp.

Thor - Hellbat - BC was my build when I could actually play the game. I didn't win alot, but when I did, it was great

As a Zerg who has lost to this Terran comp MANY times after being vastly ahead, it brings me joy to see it dismantled by one of the worst units in the game xD

I get why you'd think "oh he can build corruptors faster than I can build air units" but then he doesn't seem to recognize that his Thors could support those air units if he just stopped fighting the swarmlings.

I think these compositions both work for BGSS. Do Thor-Hellbat-BC next, and then Swarmhost-Corruptor after that.
Yuri's playing starcraft the same way the AI plays age of empires 2: building lots of production buildings, then lots of units and A-moving them on a death row
Only difference is that the AI atleast can micro every single unit

obviously late to the party but what triggered me the most was the fact that he swapped his thors to the antiarmor air attack, like if he kept the splash damage on 4 or 5 thors would have demolished the locust waves
If someone goes mass swarm hosts, just go mass BC, and then don't kill the swarm hosts. Force him to kill his own swarm hosts if he wants supply to build anti air.
If he attacks your base, just lift up your buildings and base trade him.
The mech play like space marines. There's no retreat.
Watching the hellions just run away every time a locust wave was launched confused me. Locusts have next to no health, so the hellion AoE would have slaughtered them. The thors could have started slowly killing the swarm hosts while the hellions kept the locusts under control. Add in some banshees and vikings, or even some BCs, and this should have been an easy clean up.

More hellbats and A-move them with Thors to the opponent. Then macro up to mass BCs. At least that's what I've learned from ViBE's terran B2GM series.
How come this level is 3400 MMR? Where are all those people? I meet 2800 MMR people who are microing 2 armies at once with macro 200+ APM for Terran.

It's a shame that some Terran players don't realize Battlecruisers can move normally - and not really that slowly, either.

With hellbats (not hellions) thors dont even need to run from locusts, just put hellbats in front and they fry them all.
My man just needed to mass cyclones and hellbats.

As a long-time Gold League Terran, even I see that YoeYuri was just making bad decisions and throwing away his units. Racial balance didn't cost him this game. Did he think his units would win on their own? Why does he even think this was IMBA? No selfreflection on his own actions and what happend in the game at all? Did he even watched the replay? IMHO this game was just a ruse to get in IODIS and get a commentary from Harstem.
And why does Harstem think he's a diamond player, when the cross is in Master's box? Did I miss something?

It seems like he could just have built more Hellbats with Preigniter and still won with just A-moving, no? Much of the time he just lost his Thors without even having much of a screen. It's not like that is specific to Locusts. Tons of Zerglings should work just as well. Well, ok, not without some upgrades of course.
I don't get how you decide your gonna play this comp, see swarm hosts, and not follow up with ANY battlecruisers or even just a handful of banshees.
I get the issue of being scared of the corrupters, but thors rip them apart so quickly. at 18:42 (15 minutes in game) we see 4 thors take out about half a corrupter in 1 volley. With how fast they shoot as well, a corrupter can be deleted in under 2 seconds. Even FURTHER bonus on top of that, that anti-air attack from the thor isn't a projectile. If 4 thors aim at a corrupter and the damage from 1 will kill them, the other 3 thors will retarget. We also know that homie is building a LOT of thors, they'd actually be killing a corrupter every second or so.
Oh all of this is also not even considering that yamato cannon was already researched and as pointed out, 2 starports were actively on stand by able to pump out battlecruisers. The zerg wasn't even careful with his corrupters or queens, 2 battlecruisers would genuinely could have won this game for the Terran.
How do you play that game and come away thinking that you did well enough to say that a race is imba?
How is this guy in diamond league? I'm struggling to stay in tier 3 platinum on NA servers and my build order is more efficient.

Harstem, you always say that Europe Server has the better players but I'm a hardstuck NA plat and I have the sense to target-fire locust, build BCs when my opponent is massing Swarm Hosts, and not drive my Hellions into a Spine Crawler forest. If this is Diamond in EU, I should be in Masters. What gives?

I love the idea of desperately trying to take out a base against someone who already has 20+ swarmhosts. Yeah yeah, it's okay to lose all of your thors, as long as you can potentionally slow down their economy! They'll have less larva and resources to make their, uhh . . . (checks notes) . . . locusts.
