It's clear the mom didn't love him. Anyone with a genuine love would never wish harm on their loved one even if they betrayed them in the worst of ways. Even though her son never betrayed her, she still wished harm on him. It's clear there was something egotistic about her son that may have fulfilled her, but it seems like she valued the way being a mother felt rather than the actual happiness of her son.

Everyone, don't let people like this woman into your lives, much less have kids with them. Do not let them back into your lives either and do not tell them you're going to divorce them. Easier said than done, but just make a plan and get out.
Living in a car or shelter or whatever is better than losing your or your kids lives.

Only 20 years? That's criminal in and of itself. As someone who struggles with various mental illnesses, it gets tiring hearing people try to use their mental illness as some kind of defense against the horrible decisions they make and the things that they do.

Agreed, mental illness definitely does not excuse murder. As someone with BPD, it infuriates me when other sufferers use it to blame their harmful actions. Sometimes it's not our fault that we have dark and violent thoughts, but it is still our responsibility to take our meds when we're supposed to and recognize the crucial difference between self vs reality.

What else needs to happen for people to realize how imperative it is to take mental health seriously in this country. Imagine calling for help only to be met with “It’s not illegal to be crazy” then to wake up to find out your child has been stabbed in the back by the person you were seeking help for, the fuq? So many of these awful outcomes could have been prevented if the families that are desperately seeking help with mentally unwell members of their family were taken seriously.
