Has a spare slider and barrel that can't be found after the purchase... and lied about being in bed but gets caught by video, mentions only a $40 grand insurance policy, drops the homeless man into the mix....YEP! AS GUILTY as SIN!
I just can't get into the mindset... planning the murder of someone you co-exist with everyday and have spent so many years of your life with. It doesn't appear she secretly hated him but in the end money was more important than anything and she revealed herself to be a manipulative monster. How tragic.
Money troubles, excess spending, multiple life insurance policies, and a short story on murdering your husband? He must of really liked her if he chose to stick around. Maybe it's like a frog boiling in a pot.
I would be in complete shock if my husband passed away out of nowhere I would not be able to talk about anything this woman seems just too excited about her husband’s passing..sad
Right? I’d need sedation. The person you are in love with, your only intimate life partner, and best friend, is dead….. you’re almost giddy about it? No…no, no, no! Nancy is obviously a raging narcissist. A horrible human being. Poor Dan.
My friend graduated under him, I remember the day this happened. They called her to inform her and once things settled she became the instructor/took over his role. Such a sad case.
Unbelievable, I wonder why did they have so many financial problems? was she a gambler? She was laughing and not grieving or not in shock after learning Dan was killed, she was not shocked because she killed him, just like one of the creepy novels she wrote.
She's from Texas, but supposedly doesn't like guns!? I don't care if I was a cop for 30 seconds, that bit of information immediately makes her a suspect in my eyes!
The way she attempted to be charming never sounds sincere. Her back handed compliments/insults just prove how much she didn’t LIKE him! I think she married him just to get his life insurance.
There is a reason why she had to belong to a writers circle - she could not plot a basic real life story murder, let alone write a good suspense story. (Just the few sentences of her writing that were shown are enough to see she was NOT a good writer.) First sentence: ‘I am a ROMANTIC suspense writer.’ Oh, really? Do you send your love a card every Valentine? Or do you write ROMANCE novels? I cringed with just the first paragraph.
it looks like it’s a quirk of oregon law? they don’t seem to have degrees of murder, only “murder” and “aggravated murder” so i would guess it’s being reported as “second degree” because it’s not the highest level of murder? not certain though
A crime writer who drove her own car. Took her phone. Didn't have an alibi. Didn't take his wallet. Killed him with the same caliber of weapon as her own complete weapon. Her writing must be novel.
That building had no surveillance and she knew that since she’d been there multiple times. She forgot the others businesses have them which is how they caught her van near the scene at the time of his murder.

You want to know why ........ it was the insurance money all along......... she worked to build up all that money in insurance claims........that's why she did it.... very selfish ....narcissistic .....horrible person ..... she is in jail where she belongs for the rest of her life She never showed any emotion when she was testifying at all about the loss of her husband and his friends couldn't even get through their testimony without becoming very emotionally upset
Unbelievable! The wife Nancy was so jubilant at the initial announcement of her husband death. She felt fancy free when she thought she would collect his death benefits. Nancy is a piece of work. The jury got it right.
As far as her motive, it's not exactly a big mystery... Money! Plain and simple. It's hardly relevant that Dan was a good guy, a good husband and never cheated on her... There's no way to know if she actually loved him -- or if she was even capable of loving someone other than herself. A simple truth is that some people are perfectly happy to kill a "loved one" for financial gain.
Yeah, but then you don’t get that sweet, sweet life insurance money. Oh, never mind, I’ve already said too much. Welp! Time to get back to writing my crime novel…
That whole ghost gun thing was really getting on my nerves. No such thing as a ghost gun unless you completely make it from scratch. Gun parts you buy off the internet have serial numbers that get sent to the ATF with your name

The answer to the question is she wanted the insurance money. There is no mystery.
At her age, they should do a deep dive on her past. I wonder how many other “loved ones” she’s cashed in on.
He just wanted to retire to his chickens and maybe a few vacations. So sad!
Then he should have gone to Eastern Oregon. Portlandia is a hellscape.
RIP Chef Brophy, I did not know you, but by all the accounts you were a shining star in the world. Condolences to his family (other than his "wife") for their loss.
Has a spare slider and barrel that can't be found after the purchase... and lied about being in bed but gets caught by video, mentions only a $40 grand insurance policy, drops the homeless man into the mix....YEP! AS GUILTY as SIN!
$35,000 dollars & they didn't pay the behind mortgage?!
They did the yard?
SHE.
SHE
Wow, that heffer showed not one piece of grief.
That's a bit harsh.
@@gazXspace To heifers, yes.
Let’s be honest, it’s murder in the 1st
Premeditated for sure.
Just read that that state only has the first for kids n cops
100%, preplanned and malicious. What a witch
I just can't get into the mindset... planning the murder of someone you co-exist with everyday and have spent so many years of your life with. It doesn't appear she secretly hated him but in the end money was more important than anything and she revealed herself to be a manipulative monster. How tragic.
42:52 But we do know, she wanted the life insurance money.
She probably headed right to the nearest buffet when she got the life insurance money 😮
😂😂😂
😂😂 yup greedy self
Absolutely 💯
🙆😁
“They were known to love each other” lool
😂😂😂
It's sad that there are people like that on this planet.
She quickly started talking about him in the past tense the little things 💀
Unbelievable, I wonder why did they have so many financial problems? was she a gambler? She was laughing and not grieving or not in shock after learning Dan was killed, she was not shocked because she killed him, just like one of the creepy novels she wrote.
She was her own publisher 😂
spoiled by her husband...too much love could kill you😢
Can't believe she's laughing!!! I would be beside myself!!!
a good man who didn't deserve to end his life in this way
Omg greed for this grandma whose life expectancy was 5 years 😂
I watched the Live Trial On-Line a while back ... and shes a TERRIBLE Liar !!! 😂😂😂
She never wrote or told a good story.
She's from Texas, but supposedly doesn't like guns!?
I don't care if I was a cop for 30 seconds, that bit of information immediately makes her a suspect in my eyes!
The jurors understand the case well... Thank you so much... GOD be with you all always...
I just don't understand why 2nd degree was given in this case (and some others I've seen) when clearly it was planned?? Why?
Yeah, 100% it was premeditated murder. She planned it for years.
Portlandia… I’m surprised she was charged at all!
it looks like it’s a quirk of oregon law? they don’t seem to have degrees of murder, only “murder” and “aggravated murder” so i would guess it’s being reported as “second degree” because it’s not the highest level of murder? not certain though
Because it's a woman killing her husband. That's really it. And like the other commenter says, it's Portland, it's a miracle she was charged.
She's digging her own grave 😂😂
Right
A crime writer who drove her own car. Took her phone. Didn't have an alibi. Didn't take his wallet. Killed him with the same caliber of weapon as her own complete weapon. Her writing must be novel.
That poor guy… may he rest in peace.
Geeze…
This same thing happened in Denver, Co and still the killer hasn't been found.
42:50 Respectfully, there is no question here. It's money.
Wow..she wanted ta be tha main character in her own real life novel 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮..WILDDDD
If there’s a modern day witch she’s the poster child
I watched her trial & body language analysis of her
she talked wayyy too much…made it pretty obvious she was guilty
I live in Portland and definitely remember this case.
Pure EVIL! Greed and selfishness in some humans... just sad😰
The why is: narcissistic greed.
Did I miss something? How did she get in and out of the building without being caught on video surveillance?
That building had no surveillance and she knew that since she’d been there multiple times. She forgot the others businesses have them which is how they caught her van near the scene at the time of his murder.
So crazy I went to this school back in 2019. I never got a chance to meet him but two terms in I heard of this story. I'm so glad I finally get to hear the full story!
34:29 is truly wild to me. This evidence of her obvious premeditation is "too prejudicial" for a jury?! WTH?!
9:08 he’s in the building
Ooo man 😮😢 she knew
she really thought she was the smartest person in the room
He probably asked her to go and get a job to make money instead of spend it all.
9:13 She has just found out her husband was shot dead. This nonchalance. Guilty
You want to know why ........ it was the insurance money all along......... she worked to build up all that money in insurance claims........that's why she did it.... very selfish ....narcissistic .....horrible person ..... she is in jail where she belongs for the rest of her life
She never showed any emotion when she was testifying at all about the loss of her husband and his friends couldn't even get through their testimony without becoming very emotionally upset
She looks like she lost her soul
Poor guy
He married her worse enemy
She’s pure evil
Just for the love of money
Unbelievable!
The wife Nancy was so jubilant at the initial announcement of her husband death. She felt fancy free when she thought she would collect his death benefits.
Nancy is a piece of work.
The jury got it right.
As far as her motive, it's not exactly a big mystery... Money! Plain and simple. It's hardly relevant that Dan was a good guy, a good husband and never cheated on her... There's no way to know if she actually loved him -- or if she was even capable of loving someone other than herself. A simple truth is that some people are perfectly happy to kill a "loved one" for financial gain.
did she say Ahh man lol come on lady try harder
If you no longer want your spouse, get a divorce. Sheesh!
The sane people think like you and me, but the sick people not, they want to destroy or kill their partner instead of getting a divorce. Crazy
Yeah, but then you don’t get that sweet, sweet life insurance money. Oh, never mind, I’ve already said too much. Welp! Time to get back to writing my crime novel…
@@hollyperrin7353?? please don’t murder anyone 😂
@@masudkhoa3861 😂😂😂
ironically, the writer spent all that money on guns but not on books 😂😂😂😂
The love of money brings all sorts of injurious things!
Anyone who has listened to her talking should know that there's something wrong with her.
So glad justice was served.
Some lawyers are just as evil and wicked as their clients.
That's why I have a hard time to trust people.
I see why it took him 4 1/2 years to marry her.
That whole ghost gun thing was really getting on my nerves. No such thing as a ghost gun unless you completely make it from scratch. Gun parts you buy off the internet have serial numbers that get sent to the ATF with your name
Why possibly parole?? Should of been life without parole!!
There was an episode similarly on The Closer and Law and Crime Criminal Intent with Eames and Goren[my favorites]
Law and order you mean. And dang I love the closer....how do I not remember such episode
