Justice League is a 2017 American superhero film based on the DC Comics superhero team of the same name. It is the follow-up to 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the fifth installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). @jpc1918 I mostly just watch cinemasins for movies I am genuinely interested in. Before ised to watch for almost every movie. Even the ones I could care less about
If DC was smart, they would continue with making stand alone movies, then when they got all the right combos out there Crisis on Infinite Earths puts them all together into one universe.
If they do Flashpoint right, they can decanonize all the bad movies. If not they still have a shot at that with Crisis. If they fail both, then we're fucked
Not really possible since the Arrowverse already did Crisis ok infinite Earth's and the DCEU is now canon to the TV shows. The only way out of it is if they say that the movies are canon to the TV shows but the TV shows aren't canon to the movies. Think it it like we copy and pasted the movies into a new folder with he TV shows and we can mess with that but the movies we see on the big screen are the original file and what happens in the other folder is not what we see. If it makes any sense.

@@back1879 I honestly think we are entering the era of the Anti-Superhero movie, which isn't to say the antihero era. Think of it like Clint Eastwood's anti-Western movies as well as the late 60s and 70s after a massive 50s and 60s western boom. People wanted to see different but the same. I think how they are handling Joker and Matt REeves's Batman (Hopefully) will be great examples of how to handle it.
From there they can and should just tell the stories they want. Elseworlds and whatnot.

Cyborg was done way better in doom patrol than the justice league movie. And it got renewed for a 2nd season on HBO.
While it sadly isn’t canon (as well as doom patrol) he was done amazingly on the Znyder cut

@@kimifw58 Because the Nostalgia Critic never bothers to do research on the franchises of the films or shows he reviews...unless it's Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Many of the "continuous stories" went into other series, Static Shock and Batman: Beyond... that's it. The one constant story is Darkseid dying, Lex and Brainiac merging, and then both of these events supplying the series finale with Lex wanting to remerge with Brainiac but accidentally resurrecting Darkseid, nothing else really mattered and were just episode of the day type things. And that's not bad and it made it an amazing show. Teen Titans is semi like JLA, it had much more story in its 5 seasons, the filler is memorable, and the dark stories were there, sucks it died because of toy sales, like Young Justice's fate before its resurrection.

My biggest pet peeve about this movie was nothing that they showed in their review, but one little scene after Aquaman goes back into the ocean after talking with Batman. Aquaman smashes a bottle on the pier that likely got washed into the ocean. So much for protecting the sea.
Glass is just rock.
The biodegradable paper of the label would do more damage to the sea.

As far as I remember, it follows a lot of the same concepts and WORKS!
Yeah, War was not good. Not compared to what DC Animation was putting out previously. So glad that animated universe is dead now. The new universe staring with Man of Tomorrow is so much better already.
War just somehow completely ignored the Flash point paradox movie only for the apocalypse war to say it happened. Batman's letter and all the things that had happened were forgotten for no reason until the final movie. Not to mention if you know nothing about the characters before hand, you still wouldn't know about most of them in JL war.
Basically the same problem with this movie.

I’m so glad they actually made Cyborg and The Flash into actual characters in the Snyder Cut. They actually have a reason to be there and have actual backstories now.

Uh... what? Cyborg, sure, but The Flash? Everything about Flash's backstory is in the theatrical version, and he has more reason to be there in the theatrical version than in the Snyder Cut, as he's actually dealing with enemies and saving people, whereas the Snyder Cut has him on the sidelines doing nothing until they need him to go back in time (which he only needed to do because the plan was nonsensical).

Back then they happened so frequently, that it kinda got a little old after a while.
Eh, it's mainly because Doug doesn't use their characters very well. Crossovers on Linkara's show tended to be good.

All that show did was make me want to rewatch Batman Beyond: similar premise (Bruce is indisposed, so a rebellious young-adult character stumbles upon the Batcave and puts on the old suit), yet it's *infinitely* better than Batwoman.
Speaking of which, I'd love to see a live-action Batman Beyond, just as long as it's made by a team that's competent.
@@matthewmuir8884 I remember when the cross over episode happened and they were saying that Kate had to find the Batman of the Future. For a moment, I was almost hyped, then scared, then finally relieved because I realized "I don't want this show to touch Batman Beyond, they'd ruin it."

Why? It's somehow even worse than the theatrical cut (I say "somehow" but there's an obvious reason: Snyder), and all it did was prove that the film was doomed.
Loved the Cyborg on Doom Patrol. The practical costume is way beyond what they achieved with CGI, but his character was also handled much better.

And Wonder Woman 1984 and Aquaman also take place in the DCEU as well. Aquaman even makes a reference to events in Justice League. The only one that doesn't is Joker. I'm glad DC is doing individual stories. I like that they're also doing stories outside of the DCEU like Joker that allow for more variety and different movies with different tones. I think with Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Shazam they're having a shared universe but doing it in a way that is different from Marvel. Even Matt Reeves' Batman seems like it takes place in a different universe like Joker takes place in a different universe. They should wait on a Justice League sequel though honestly. Maybe they'll do a Crisis on Infinite Earths story and combine them all into one. Though that would be WAY too much in my opinion.

the thing I hate about the opening with wonderwoman is, "This thing will destroy X city blocks!!!.' but you can throw it 10 feet into the air and it won't hurt the building.
Also, London doesn't have city blocks as it isn't built in a grid like American cities are.

I often enjoy looking at the parallels between the movies and the comics when it comes to the schism between 2015 and 2017. The Snyderverse really does reflect the pointless cash grab that is the new 52, while the newer DC films really do embody the celebration of the characters and their varied history like Rebirth does. The New 52 was supposed to be a fresh restart where new readers could jump in without knowing all this backstory, but jumped straight into crossovers and shaking up the status quo before a status quo had been established. The Snyderverse is the same way, pulling in characters without caring enough to let them grow their own voice.
But the current DC animated universe managed to create a cinematic universe based on the New 52 that works

@@wrestlinganime4life288 A lot of these are based on comics that predate the new 52 (Hush, death/reign of superman, son of batman). I will definitely watch Bat vs Rob, as court of owls is my jam.
There are a couple reasons why the animated movie universe works while the comics and films do not.
1. They have more time and do focus on single narratives.
2. By being "straight to video", they are targeting a demographic that actively looks for the material, unlike films that rely on advertising.
3. Unlike comics that pave the way, movies will often target storylines that are proven popular and recreate them. It's a safer bet.
4. Unlike movies that cost hundreds of millions to create, animated movies can be considered smash hits if their income measures in the millions. Hush only brought in 3 million. It's not as big a gamble if they have to spend 3 movies setting up the universe.
5. Unlike comics, where if you're not a fan of an arc you have to wait months and will likely forget to ever pick it up again, if you're not a fan of a movie, you can skip it and not lose much.

Coming back from watching the Snyder cut, they really fixed Cyborg's character. In fact all of the characters.
They did, especially Cyborg
They fixed Cyborg and Superman's upper lip, but they ruined everyone else, including Batman, the rest of Superman, etc. Plus, even saying they "fixed" Cyborg is a bit of a stretch, as while some of the added stuff is good, there's also a ton of stuff that just creates new problems.
Can't wait for the review of the Snyder cut.
