Hey Jake, thanks so much for this series! Im using your vids as a guide for my 300L mods and theyre suuper helpful and entertaining. Your handlebar video saved me about a week of swearing after which i probably wouldve taken the bike to a shop to fix my attempt at installing lol
I just started watching a week ago and wasn't expecting much, but have been pleasantly surprised. I don't even own a MC right now, but am wanting a 250l, 300L or rally. I haven't ridden in 4 or 5 years and at 73, I'm questioning whether I need another. Keep em coming. Tom from north of the red river.
If you're going to ride that on pavement put 2 beed lockers on it 2nd one directly across from the oem hole 1 . You will have to drill a hole but your tire will be more balanced . Usually it's spot on and won't need any wheel weights
Commenting before I see how you do with the rabaconda but because I’ve used the hell out of mine. I love it. I’ve changed 16”, 18”, 19”, and 21”. From regular dirt bike compounds to Mitas e-07 Dakar compounds(stupid thick/hard) for a KTM-890. Well worth the dollars invested.
same tires I run the metzler back tire dose great rocks or mud.i rode some decent spots last year they held up amazing definitely had my yz426f keeping up with the 2 smokers ..
i bet you could get some more of those motion pro rim protectors and use them on the stalks of your anaconda tire thingy where you have the electrical tape.
If ya changed ya tyres your self more than once, you would learn how to do it better. Yes it’s a prick of a job, especially out on the trail, but harden up and put the effort in. You will get better at it. I personally & many more of us don’t use a tyre machine, mechanical or Automated, and we can R&R tyres as quick if not quicker than old mate in this video.
Jake, maybe it would be a good idea to have some sort of nylon inserts on the rabaconda where it interfaces with the spokes? That way you can rotate the tire with a little less effort and the spokes would just glide easily rather than scratch it.
Your flash comment made me think of the end of cartoons in the late 80’s that someone (I can’t remember the name, but I think it was the creator) used like a blog.
That Family Guy meme in the intro was spot on. I'm a DRZ owner wanting to get into enduro, and there's no way I'm splashing out the cash for a performance enduro machine before I've tried it a bit, and I already own the DRZ 😁
Awesome. I have a pair of those tire irons. They work great. A must have item IMO. Glad I watched because I never heard of rim protectors. Maybe I can change my tires without scratching up my black rims! I am a good mechanic because: 1.) I'm meticulous 2.) I never claim to know it all and like to learn new tricks from others. haha
could you please tell us what is the exact size of thos tires?? like is the front a 90-90-21 and back a 130-90-18... ??? The reason behind this is that your new tires looks a little difrent (bigger)than the stock size and i wanna know if it is, what size is gonna fit in the swingarm... Thx!
You can do enduro on any bike just takes skill. I rode with a friend doing hard enduro in the UK and his 300l got through it all only thing was the suspension which bottomed out alot on larger rock steps. The videos on my channel if anyone's curious ;)
Wrong application for that chain you’ll need to lube it quite liberally every few hours if you care about wear and tear with your sprockets and the rollers in the chain. If you could care less just send it and buy new shit later. Non o ring chains are for MX bikes where your lubing the chain after a 20 minute moto. Good o ring chain would have been the go to for off-road setup. I run a uw ring on my mx bike even.
I tried those heavy duty tubes on my drz and the fu**ing valve stem ripped right out of the tube on my front tire. Went back to normal duty tubes after that.
@@TheGardenSnake We Koat it installed it 🤣🤣🤣 back worked fine. Still have that heavy duty tube in the badk. I think that front one was just defective but I've never had a normal cheapy tube pull out.
I was considering the same tires but I was gonna do the mid/soft on the front and rear...whats the reasoning behind the soft/hard combo. Also...how does the 120/100 fit/ride? Kinda odd they offer the soft in stock size but not the hard.
I hate to be that guy, but that's not how you are supposed to change tires. The recommended method involves various mismatched irons intended for any wheel but the one you've got, ranging from tiny ineffectual ones meant for bicycles, the huge rusty one for trucks, and the horrible spoon forged onto the handle of that one monkey wrench you found on the side of the road. All of these are then inserted haphazardly, almost blindly, into the space between the tire carcass and rim before being racked around and cursed at until the job is finished or one slips out and clocks you in the face.
I love that bike and it actually does very well off road with one big exception, sand. The 17 inch wheel and steep fork angle is tricky in sand. The crf will be great for Mojave. Also we’re still testing it out and seeing what’s possible with it. The whole make one bike do all things.
@@TheGardenSnake not sure if you have one yet but I would recommend a 38T rear for your road trip. I just put one on and it helped keep my revs down a bit for highway use. I also have a 550perfomance ecu to help with the taller gearing and couldn’t be happier.
Heavy duty tubes are not worth the extra money. They have not preformed any better than the standard in my personal experience. One nail is still all it takes regardless if it's heavy duty or not
I disagree, heavy duty is good, but ultra heavy duty is even better. 4/6mm thick tubes. Nails are not the problem, rim pinch is. Light duty tubes are ok if ya run 30 plus psi and ya don’t ride in the bush.
I'm sorry guy but you made two wrongs with the rear tire, one it's not DOT you'll be riding dirty with that tire. Two that tire Is way too big for that wheel, there should be an gap between the rear tire and the rear inner fender, this is why factory sizes are important. Lastly that tire will wear terribly when you hit the highway and you're gonna lose torque at the wheel with a tire that large.
As I explained this is set up for pure off road park. It’s never going on the road let alone the highway in this set up. There is a gap back there. All is fine.
@@TheGardenSnake ohh okay when you said you were taking it all the way to the Mojave desert so I assume you'd be riding it there but if you're trucking it then sure!
Seems like a lot of work to make it nearly as capable as my 465lb KTM 790 Adventure S off-road, or... heaven forbid an MX track, LOL! I would love to have you come shred some #XLMX with us at Lazy Springs MX track in Lehigh Acres, FL!

The world IS pretty crazy now Jake. Just keep on keeping on is right.
Life is indeed a garden that needs diggin. Glad Spring is finally here in Upstate NY, I'll get to enjoy my $5+ a gallon gas. Loving this bike, Jake!
Who knew someone could make changing out tires and tubes so fun! 🤣 Awesome stuff, man!
3:42 😄 that was a tough one to catch !
Do you want to know a little trick to go frame by frame?
Bike looks great. Good luck on the trip!
That tire machine is slick . Definitely a time and knuckle saver.
I "enduro’d" my WR250R. Stripped as much off as I could and it'll go down trails more gnar than I'm willing to try. 270lbs ready to ride.

quick tip for tire changes zip ties, on the rode flat tire had zip ties wrapped the tire up squeezing it down enough to get the tube replaced
See you in Mohave in April. Can’t wait to see the bike

heck yeah bubs. I usually run Shinko 216MX 90/90/21 on the front tire and the Shinko 525 Cheater 120/90/19 on the rear for my dirt bike.
Dig it and enjoy the fruits dear Jake.
That bead breaker is neat!

Well jake, let's just keep digging, cuzz i wanna know how this crf300 comes out (:
What size rim locks did you use?
That's what I wanted to know and he held them up to the camera but didn't show the size
So why the stock exhaust, saving that for another video?
