Some really great nuggets in this video. You’re very good at cutting through the fat and getting to the key points. My biggest take away from this is that it is comprehensive without coming off too technical. I appreciated the b-roll examples to ensure that some of us who may not understand get a visual follow up.
I’m definitely guilty of not starting my channel because of gear. To be fair it is my second channel and I fell I’m holding my self to a higher standard, but I waited a few months to start that I wish I hadn’t. Great video Dunna! I’m basically following this tutorial with my video for this week. Doing a pretty fun gimbal review with a 3 minute motocross sequence
I recommend to film, and take notes of problems or things you want to show in the review when it happens or shortly after, and film footage when you can when it suits you, over time. then use the best footage you got. I haven't done a review in video form yet. so far I've only done written reviews, used video, pictures to make my point. but I am not fluent in English yet, but I'm practising. I don't have many talking videos, but I am sure I will have more.
Such an amazing resource, Dunna! A few friends and clients have suggested I start doing reviews and it's been tugging at my mind for the last little while. I've been holding off because I want to get a specific piece of gear (slider), or finish making my desk into a set, or I want a topdown set as well...all excuses and it's great to hear you say "start now". Thank you!!!
That’s EXACTLY why I wanted to make this video. I knew there must be a lot of people out there who could use this resource to get them started!! NOW GO START!!
Dunna you’re in my head. I literally was watching a few videos this morning about tech product reviews to learn more and Boom I get a notification for this video. Thanks for the tips homie 💯💯
when using phone to film without a gimbal, use careful walking, use your knees as suspension or a stabilizer if you like, same with hands, hold phone securely, with two hands, walk carefully, move arms, hands to get the shot, you don't always need a slider, a stabilizer, gimbal, a film crew.
Thanks Dunna - I've learned so much from your channel and have a couple of TH-cam channels on the go now. So glad to hearing it from a Canadian as well!

Question, how do you setup a camera that shows only your hands? We do both face and desk shots. We have to do this makeshift setup with a bunch of different tripods. Is there a good trip that has a horizontal bar? Hope that makes sense
Haha no stress. I typically use something called a C-Stand with a boom arm and mount a small ball head on the end of that. The other thing you can do is get some kind of backdrop stand and use a friction arm with a clamp.

an issue I have is trying to review something in a language that is not my native language which i don't usually speak in, and do several pages worth of text into a video. it's huge task, I don't even know how long it would take to make. So it's understandable why bike magazines don't do super in-depth videos of every single component they review, it would simply be too much work I think. of course it depends on the product, and how much you have to say. if it's an particularly bad product with many disadvantages and issues, showing all of that for example will make the review much longer, for example an bicycle with horrible component choice, this and that failed, this and that issue, but some stuff is easier to talk or show. but I know in some cases it's possible to do very short yet informative video, it depends. So for me it's too big of a task right now I think, but some people have suggested to make some reviews, comparisons.
