fun fact: don't know if you got to know it but the Prada shop inside the "open-air shopping center" (aka Galleria Vittorio Emanuele) from the beginning of the video is actually the first ever Prada shop, the doors and entrance area in general are original as well as the cash mashine/desk on the ground floor (im not sure if that's how you call it, the place where people were paying for the items back in the day). i went there once when i was living in Milan and asked the shoping assistant why above one of the side entrance there is the different logo/name - not Prada but Fratelli Prada written in an old school font (fratelli being "brothers") and she told me that! i was rather shocked, thought that they probably started "small" in some more modest area and then grew big, but no! the first ever shop was right there, in Galleria, pure center of Milan! thought it would be interesting to share it with you and the community! kisses
Okay, my last comment i promise haha, sorry, i got a little too excited as i consider Milan a bit of "my" city you know.. 💌 the concept of free food with a drink is really popular across all Italy and is called "aperitivo", it is very popular to go for aperitivo with friends/colleagues after work or on the weekends, you know just your favourite drink and a snack, all for an affordable price - what can be better really? sometimes restaurants will extend the snack to the full-on open buffet and then it becomes "apericena" (so aperitivo + "cena" which means "dinner"). Hugs and thanks for commenting back, it's really nice to know that some of the content creators out there take the time to actually build the community and not only upload a video and wait for the profits, all good to you! ciaooo 💌

Some places charge a bit more for drinks but they give you small plates too and you can actually dine with it (we call it informally "apericena" : a mix of aperitivo and cena ("dinner"). This is a thing I haven't found in UK until now and I miss the most from Italy.

Valextra is such a great brand. Some people call it the Hermes of Italy since they have the same leather provider and it's also really old with a lot of heritage. I have some of their bags and they are great! They actually have a store in London and they also have them at Harrods.
My husband and I absolutely loved Milan! We went in 2021. I believe there was a Dior store where Swarovski is now. That’s where I bought my denim saddle bag actually. Love that you’re going to Florence right after, it was our honeymoon trip. Thank you for sharing your trips with us! ❤

Our Aunt lived in Milan so we went all the time.Yes, that was the Galleria. You can go inside the Cathedrale/Duomo if there is no line. There is also an elevator around the back to go up on the roof. The sculpture is incredible up close. So happy you made the trip. My husband is from Florence, so I have been there a lot. Don't forget La Loggia restaurant on Piazzale Michelangelo if you can.
as for the food with drinks in Milan there's a whole culture around it called aperitivo. It's present in the whole of italy but in milan they take it a step further, there are places where there are buffet tables full of food so many times hanging out with friends you just go for aperitivo before dinner and you are so full by the end of it you skip the dinner altogether

A have a few handbags from Save My Bag and I love them. You can wipe them down if they get dirty and they are so light you don’t even know you’re carrying anything. I got my mom a little cross body animal print bag that she loves as well. All made in Italy, great prices.

Sophie, this is Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, actually in Naples there is a very similar one☺️ The Duomo of Milan is one of the most beautiful buildings I’ve ever seen. Fyi if you’re interested near Florence there is The Mall (very similar to Bicester Village), they have own bus to take you and bring you back, I think was 10 eu. Enjoy Florence😊
The free food thing happened to us this summer when we were at Lake Como for a few days. We would go up the hill to this little cafe place for wine or an Aperol, and out would come olives, bread, crisps, cheese. You would hardly need to order lunch! It's wonderfully sophisticated and I love it. The two things I loved were the gelato and the Aperol spritzes!

Hi Sophie, lovely to see Milano. In Italy it is quite usual to get snacks with your aperitif. With regards to hotels I would recommend that if you go again try the Hotel Manzoni in the via Santa Spirito a really nice family run four star hotel and right in the middle of the fashion area - the via Montenapoleone and a ten minute walk to the Galleria Vittore Emanuele II. For aperitivi and snacks - and also lovely breakfasts and cakes and chocolates -- Marchesi in via Montenapoleone is wonderful and there's also a branch in the Galleria. It was lovely to see the Cathedral. It's well worth sparing the time to go onto the roof and getting close to the amazing spires. Thank you so much, it was a treat to see this. Can't wait for Florence! xoxo

The department storte Rinascente (Rinnashentay) means renaissance. There aren't many department stores in Italy, actually I can't think of another. Not like London or New York. I think it's a space thing.

Galeria Vitorio Emanuele (the one near the cathedral with the beautiful architecture) is like the Harrods area in London, i.e. filled with tourist crowds. Personally, I much prefer the quieter via Brera and Monte Napoleone for quieter, more comfortable shopping (luxury row and perfumes).
In Italy you drink not to get drunk but to just get a super light buzz. They give you food to not get you drunk. They also call that aperitif: drink & some snacks. Ok
My experience from italy, but I'm not Italian. Usually when you sit down to have even a coffee. You pay for the service. Its usually 1-5€ per person. That get you the service and some snack with your drink. Could be tricky if you just get a coffee, but you don't pay that if you get it on the bar. On the other side, there's no expectation for a tip if you pay thst fee.😉 And forget Aperol, Campari is so much better ❤ In Italy you get it also with an olive, what's strange, but good 👍
