snap...wtf is wrong with everyone else, you'd swear a statement like that would have thousands of hits by now 🤔...maybe they only appeal to the really clever people 🤘🏼
One of my all time favorite Counting Crows songs. So hypnotic, beautiful, & heart-wrenching, and the authenticity of the lyrics cuts to the bone. Relationships. Sigh.
The musicianship and vocal delivery in this performance is the stuff of absolute greatness. It’s mind blowing. I have loved this band from day one, but this beats anything I’ve ever heard from them. Counting Crows forever! 🍺
"She's talking in her sleep. It's keeping me awake. And Anna begins to toss and turn. Every word is nonsense, but I understand!" That's reluctant love! I can't tell her yet, but I think I love her. I know what she means when she speaks gibberish in her sleep. That's love, right? Oh, damn, she gave up on me. I don't think I'm ready for this sort of thing.
I love the song. This version may be the best musically. I'm not loving Adam's approach to delivering it though. I prefer his more traditional way of singing it.

I went to accounting crows concert one time. That was the last time I ever went. They are horrible live and it is purposeful. Listen I am all for an artist exploring their music and occasionally coming up with different renditions but you should at a bare minimum be allowed to experience an equal measure how it's supposed to be performed from the real album. That's not what you get with this group and it sucks because their albums in their early stages are some of my favorite albums of all time. Hell I would even settle for them performing their songs as they are on the album instead of 50/50 something like 15 or 20% of the time. They don't even give you that. In fact they don't even give you one percent of the time. Do you know how often they reward their fans by performing a song as it is on the album? Take a guess............. The answer would be not a single solitary time. Nope you are not reading this incorrectly. They are the only artist that I have ever come across in which there is not one or two album like renditions of a song that they put out. In fact if you were to find another artist that would be close to them in that regard then you'd be looking at an artist that does it at least a bare minimum of 20% ish. Again they do it never. Instead they robbed their fans of having that experience live because that album song means something special to them. We do enjoy the renditions. But we would also like to experience the song as it was meant to be played. But again they rob us of that every time. I had two friends who also love them and thought that I was being hyperbolic when I told them that. So of course they started going to their concerts. The first one and then the second one of course they told me that it's just a set of bad luck. So they kept going and they got to concert number 9 together before they gave up and just like me, They will never spend another dime on seeing these guys live because it's horrible
If you want the recording then listen to the recording. The reason The Grateful Dead became so popular and remain so is because no two live performances were the same. I've never gone deep into this band on any level but your comment makes me more interested not less. Corporate soulless music is what you're after.
Ooof...I've always thought this is one of the prettiest CC songs, but this ain't it, chief. I'm wondering if he blew out his vocal cords, because he's not even trying for notes on this song, and I wouldn't say it's super hard - its in a fairly low register. I heard they were touring this year - I've be having none of that.
it seems like to me that he's been drinking quite a bit or maybe he's under the influence of drugs? I mean, I hate to say that, but like you said, ooof, it's not good. lol
To each his own. I dig it. It's not the original version, to be sure. But songs evolve and quite a few of the versions of this song in the last decade are similar.
One of the best songs of all time. Utterly sublime, makes me cry every time
Me to ,and I'm trying so hard not to it hurts...

@@doug_1489 you might have a point there chum!
This album came out when I was 13, and I don't think I've ever been the same. 😊
Same

My favorite version of my favorite song. Brings me to tears every time .
This album was not “critically acclaimed” but I beg to differ, and this performance of “Anna begins” is fucking amazing.
Absolutely! The entire album is a Masterpiece!👍💖🎶
@@theresat9687gmail It sure is. It was their appearance on Jools Holland many moons ago which revealed them to me. I have never looked back!
Critics are always wrong anyway
Fucking right it is!!!
a lot of critics at the time thought it was great
2023 fazia uns 10 anos que não ouvia esse som, como é bom!!!

Freshman and sophomore albums are complete masterpieces.

Omg thank you. I can’t really listen to their live stuff. The cd is so perfect, this sounds like junk.

...and this time...
I'm probably going to get some shit for this but I prefer the version on the album...and by the way what an album
that's not how the song goes
I'm on your side...I'd be mad if I paid for this concert. TOOL did a better live version of their song Pushit.
Love these guys but wont spend money to see them!! just sing it as originally put down on tape!

Just sing the damn song
Fucking sing it guy. Too chopped up.
How the fuck do you massacre your own song?
jesus, why can't they just settle on a single version of a melody. it pisses me off that each version is so different. it's so unprofessional
No, it's your own lack of soul.
He ruins one of the best love songs ever. Performed by HIM!
Terrible live rendition
