You know, you just may have convinced me to get one! I saw one on the road the other day and I was blown away! My family may go "huh?" I want the ride and handling of a car with the space of a crossover. Your reviews are always very thorough and easy to follow. You do a lot of homework and it shows. And, shooting and editing videos is time consuming, but you do a great job.
@@CarCoachReports Thank you for your advice on a test drive first and not paying an additional dealer markup although I expect every dealer is asking for the Moroney plus $$$.
Great review, Lauren. I've owned several Scandinavian wagons, Volvos and Saabs, and loved the all. And if I had my way we'd have a wagon rather than an SUV. Unfortunately, my wife's daily driver and the family's extended trip vehicle is a midsize SUV as a result of her preference for an elevated driver's seat. Surrounded by humungous pickups and SUVs in Seattle traffic she insisted on better visibility than our wagons (and a minivan) provided. It's much like a nuclear arms race, of course. As other vehicles grow taller and larger, the natural defense is to copy that trend. Sad but true it appears that wagons and highly versatile minivans have been largely killed off by the tastes of more petite class of drivers.
I am a huge fan of the wagons as well. They’re also known as shooting brakes. The Volvo was a blast to test drive. And I’m glad to know there are other fans of different vehicles, because I don’t like mainstream boring cars either.
Excellent coverage of the Volvo small gripe but I do have to say the music in the background sounds like dogs barking next door to my house. The headrest feature is cool. Ill take that seat massager.
Great review. Liked and subscribed. You touch on a lot of little details and "livability" points that other reviewers skip as they focus on the driving dynamics and specs more. In the end, I find your mix of information really helpful. This wagon is a beauty for sure. As a Honda/Acura family that keeps cars 10+ years, my main concern with investing in a V60 CC is reliability. I know too many friends with European cars that end up paying thousands for this and that over time, things that shouldn't fail like a radio, etc. Do you have any data or opinion on Volvo reliability and cost of ownership compared to Japanese cars? Thanks!
Thank you for subscribing and the kinds words. Unfortunately, the 2021 Volvo V60 has not been rated yet by JD Power. The 2020 Volvo V60 has achieved an overall score of 73 out of 100 proving that it is one of the most reliable wagons in the market. Volvo is known in the world for its safety and durability, the 2021 Volvo V60 is expected to score better than the previous one.
Excellent review Lauren. I just can't get on the SUV band wagon, but I can certainly get on the wagon wagon. Seriously, what more could you ask for ( I want my AM radio), in this price range. Still, once I pick the right lotto numbers (sorry, I forgot I live in Las Vegas and we don't have the lottery ) I would have this car and the RS6 for the quick trips to San Diego. Wagons are so much more engaging to drive than those annoying cookie cutter SUV's.
OMG yes to the Audi RS6 Avant - love that shooting brake! Thanks for the nice words. Certain SUVs are impressive thought - X6M, Cayenne, RSQ8, GLS63AMG are all super fast too
Thanks Lauren for an excellent report. But I still do have couple of questions for you. Is does have rain sensing wipers and what about the headlights illuminations at night, I mean far enough and bright enough to see ? Thanks.
I'm going with the Mercedes AMG C class wagon for my next car. Volvo needs to up it's game more than a chip upgrade if it want to sell wagons at the upper price points. At least a V6 twin turbo should be available as an option, and more interior choices including a quiet pack with laminated glass and upgraded insulation. Lots of us want to travel post-covid and the airlines are a nightmare so we're opting for travel by road.
What a fine review! Well done. Answers lots of questions and quite thorough. I have a last gen XC70, and am debating switching to this but am not sure if this is significantly smaller, both in terms of cabin space and trunk space. The V90CC seems nice but the trunk is annoying compromised by the steep rake of the rear screen. However, that definitely had more interior room than the XC70. I also do think Volvo are basically a step away from full electric cars, and so wonder if I might not wait for one of those instead, while persisting with a perfectly adequate and fairly capacious older station wagon. First world decisions… Well done anyway.
So in my family we have both this v60 cross country and the last gen xc70. Size is almost identical. Just slightly less storage in the back but significantly more room for passengers and of course more sophiaticated features. So its basically an upgraded xc70
Good review. Positive points would be the good exterior looks. Negative points would be the engine, infotainment. Also, I don't think this car would do 500 000+ km like the older 5 and 6 cylinder previous legends. As a cross country, i also don't see this car being bashed into mud and off road terrains like the old cars used to with headlight wipers running. You can tell they have given up development for this car in favor of future electric cars. Feels like and end of life cycle product that hasn't changed much in years.
Just so everyone knows, there is an AM tuner on this car. She obviously didn't read the manual that is in the infotainment system that explains how to switch the tuner to AM. Also, the new 2023 is amazing with the hybrid system in it. Your fuel economy goes way up with the new B5 and B6 variants.
I wonder how you felt about the shifter, Lauren. Many manufacturers are going to knobs or buttons on their higher end vehicles. Does it have rain sensing wipers or heads up display? I have always hoped that manufacturers, particularly European would put short wave radios in their cars, but instead they took the A.M. out. It's a nice vehicle, anything that saves me from going to an SUV is worth considering, but it's too bad that the few station wagons are so pricey.

Just got my '22. Added Polestar and couldn't be happier! It's a safe, quicker, comfortable, quiet sport estate. The best of all worlds!
EXCELLENT review in a nice shooting brake! Some of the most comfortable seats in the auto industry. Great Job, Lauren!
Thank you - i agree!
I have the 2021 XCountry and absolutely love it. I have had across the board SUV's but always wanted a wagon. Love this car.
Amazing and thorough information. It's rare to get this kind of coverage and analysis.
Glad you liked it! Thank you!
Love wagons sadly the market is small here; great review as always! Wish we could get the Audi S4 Avant in the US ☹️
We love the S4 Avant, its not sold in the US. We do have the RS6 Avant.

I could like to import Volvo v60 cross country to Kenya what is the procedure
This is a great review, it looks very nice, it is my dream wagon.
Great review Car Coach!

An additional plus is the fabulous European Delivery program, which is unequaled and also happens to give the best price going.
