In case you're all wondering, I shot this on a iPhone XS, nearly 3 years old, not the latest model. And didn't use a pro cam app, just grab and go on the standard camera setting. Like I said, I'm on vacation... sort of.
You did another great review Tom. And hey, I'm rocking a Samsung Galaxy S10, so I know you don't need the latest $1200 phone to get great video lol 😅 And props to you for making a video while on vacation. But seriously, if you take a week off next week, we'd understand! Stay prosperous, Garret
THAT was an excellent review. Thanks for giving us something different, showing the Northwest and local businesses some love, and giving us a love letter to wagons. Tell your family we said thanks as well.
Thanks for another fun "road trip" review, Tom! I've always enjoyed seeing you and your family together. As far as the video quality, even with your iPhone, it was still better than any other TH-cam car review, except for "Savage Geese." I appreciate the extra time and care you've always put into your videos. Take care and keep them coming!
Tom great review, really appreciate you sharing the interesting activities and beautiful scenery...more than just your standard car review! When the land border opens( 🇨🇦 - -🇺🇲)we've got to check out Bend Oregon!
I love these videos, let me tell you why. I love that he takes us with him on adventures. Tom gives us real life scenarios when explaining truck space and layouts. I like how he throws in other notable comparisons, these are things that car shoppers won’t know but will be helpful if they are in the market. This review was the best one being that it was shot on an iPhone. I also like that he tells us that he subtly may or may not like a particular vehicle. I appreciate these reviews.
Thanks for sharing the personal content, it really adds to the review. As an Oregonian, I may be a little biased on the "other" content as well. Fun to see what you do with "only" an iPhone. I see the difference, but for what it's worth, it still looked really good on my 65" big screen!
Tom, really liked how you still incorporated the voice over with excellent mics with the road trip/camera phone portability. Thanks for sharing the experience of your travels. The Volvo played 2nd fiddle to the rest of the video.
This is the way these vehicles should be reviewed. I love the review! Thanks to you for the extra effort it took to shoot this review, and thanks to your family and friends for availing themselves.
Please thank your wife and son for participating in the video. For many of us who remember your family when you all shared the same home (almost 10 years ago?), it was affirming to see everyone happy, healthy, and well. Thanks Tom.
+1 .. The folks had a 1964 Dodge Custom 880 wagon, 9 passenger.. A 1960 Ford Galaxie wagon and a 1969 Chrysler Town & Country wagon, 9 passenger… Parallel parked the wagon in my driver’s license test… Have luv station wagons … We do..
Tom, No need to apologize for a temporary reduction in production values. As a huge wagon fan, I prefer the Volvo 240 wagon assembled in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Great review, Tom! Thanks for visiting Oregon. Or as the late, great Governor McCall would say "Welcome to Oregon. Now go home." I love my S90 (used, and so affordable because who wants sedans anymore?) with the incredible B & W sound system, but the V90 Cross Country would be so much nicer, due to the ease of hauling adventure gear. Cruising long distances with those seats, that ride, and that sound system is sublime. Cheers from the Pacific Rim.
Tom, I’m not going to lie, I come here for the car videos and Volvo wagons…but I enjoyed seeing your family and life. I also have even more respect for you, for converting your son into a wagon fanatic. My 10 year old son is also on board. He is very excited to get a used XC70 when he starts driving. I wont be ready to hand down my 2020 V90CC at that time. Cheers!
If I didn't see the iPhone in the reflection of the car I would never believe this was shot with nothing less than a bunch of professional equipment. Another great review!
Thanks for the stellar review and entertainment Tom! That Volvo is amazing; it's going to be my next car without question. I live in Oregon as well and I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. It really is a piece of paradise.
I love these types of reviews you do. Off script, exploring the world, seeing things I'd otherwise never know about. While still keeping doing a great car review.
Great review Tom! I grew up in Vancouver, WA, and spent time vacationing at Lake Billy Chinook and Sun River and also staying in Bend, to ski Mt. Bachelor. Beautiful scenery to say the least...
Excellent!!! I know you do not want to hear this, but the "shot on iPhone" is JUST FINE! Your filmmaking skills show through and the camera and audio are 95% as good as your expensive gear. Food for thought the next time you're thinking of upgrading equipmment.
I enjoyed this review ... Infact I specifically enjoyed all the Volvo reviews that you have on your channel !!!! I personally like the one you did in Sweden... !!! It's also crazy the video capturing capabilities smartphones have these days !!! They have gotten so so good !!!!
Tom, I enjoy all your reviews but I really enjoyed this one. The mixture of real world application and the breaks with the adventure, scenery, food spots, etc was so awesome. Also, your son was a great assistant! Thank you!
Hi, Tom! It was nice to see a some kind of more personal side of you connected to cars. Really nice family! :-) I remember, when a few months ago I said hello to you, and you just had 100K subs at that time. Now it's time to say hello again, @ almost 150K! I still like your style and videos, keep it going! All the best, from Hungary, Europe! ;-)
Great review, and thank you for featuring Hunter and his amazing musical project! He is a friend of mine, and I know your support means so much. Greetings from Cleveland Ohio-I love all your videos.
I've not actually met him but I've been to 3 of these concerts. Cool concept. This one was my fav. I met his mom in the parking lot, seems like a wonderful woman.
I went with the Subaru Outback XT Touring because I wanted this car, but could not stomach, nor produce the additional $30,000 price difference between the two vehicles...but, this is nonetheless a fine Swedish long roofed lust machine for as wagon aficionados. Also, your son is 100% correct! If everyone in the world owned and drove a station wagon, the world would indeed be a better place.
Great review and I'm glad you and your family enjoyed the vacation. The complexity of a 4 cyl engine being both supercharged and turbocharged is an obstacle to committing to a new generation Volvo. I'm a serial Volvo owner and my last 2 sedans were totaled by other drivers-thanks for mentioning that the seats are not only supportive and comfortable but are a well engineered constituent in overall vehicle safety. Volvo seats hold up well under stress-they don't accordion nor "submarine" in the event of an accident. Bend is nice... but too many people now. Thanks
Awesome video!!!!!! Nice to involve family members too. Cheers! Love what volvo is doing for the passed years. Owned a first gen xc60... lovely suv still loving it!
Wow, seriously cool is an understatement... nice vacation Tom. I retire at the end of this year and have bookmarked this video for follow-up. (...as we are active hikers, cyclists and kayakers). Thanks! JP🎑
My dream car. No joke love this wagon. I drive an Outback but would love to buy a Volvo wagon like this. It’s a fancier Outback which is the perfect car for me already. This is just one step up
The video on the iPhone is great Tom! I know this was family vacation time but consider doing this more! With a wireless lav mic connected to a phone I think I wouldn’t mind this video quality at all. Great car and looks like a great family trip.
I have a mic system but for some reason it wasn't working, apparently one of the phone updates made it obsolete. Only really needed it for inside the car.
Tom, video quality was great. No need to spend so much time editing in the future, This was an excellent review. It’ll give you more time to spend with your lovely family. Yes, wagons are cool!
Happy to see you are on vacation. Even with an iphone you bring the A-game. The Volvo brand has grown on me: five years ago I wouldn't consider a Volvo as an option and now it's a strong option. That Chinese company that now owns it (Geely I think) has improved the brand and the car lineup.
If you talk to the Volvo folks, they have nothing but good things to say about Geely, especially after the Ford days. The parent company gives them plenty of freedom to make they cars they want I'm led to believe.
Beautiful car, beautiful scenery, beautiful family. Wonderful video. If you're still on vacation, enjoy it, and stop filming cars for a few days. Enjoy! 😄
Hey 👋 Tom you always try to show something extra in your videos including the car 🚘 knowledge . Your channel D DRIVEN IS NICE 👍 TO WATCH WITH U.S VIEWS. Thank you 😊 for sharing . Enjoy 😉 your holidays as you deserve the best holiday time too . Good luck 😉.
Really enjoyed this episode, and the photography is incredibly impressive. It is amazing what the camera in our pocket can do. While watching I really did not notice the difference from the usual great photography you provide. Thanks.
Love Sunriver! We took our 2018 v60 CC up there from SoCal. Last September. Beautiful drive. Wife and I are seriously looking at upgrading to this vehicle.
Oh, forgot to mention I once had a Volvo 145E powder blue wagon with one of the first fuel injectors out there. Loved it! Sold it for more than I paid for it. Love wagons.
I really enjoy this style of car review combined with travel. I think this along with your road trip to Napa in the mini-van are my favorites of yours. You do a good job weaving the story of your trip and car review together.
Absolutely loved this review Tom! Probably one of the best you've ever done. Aside from the vehicle itself, this review reminded me how much I'm dying to make it back to the US for another road trip.
Great video, just remember it has voice control, so no need to troll through the menu to up the heating or turn the radio on etc etc ! Why do testers always leave this out of reviews ?
In case you're all wondering, I shot this on a iPhone XS, nearly 3 years old, not the latest model. And didn't use a pro cam app, just grab and go on the standard camera setting. Like I said, I'm on vacation... sort of.
Still great stuff.
You did another great review Tom. And hey, I'm rocking a Samsung Galaxy S10, so I know you don't need the latest $1200 phone to get great video lol 😅
And props to you for making a video while on vacation. But seriously, if you take a week off next week, we'd understand!

Working vacation
It honestly looks so much better than what it is. It looks very suitable and professional regardless!
still, excellent quality! And I liked seeing your lovely family as well. Thanks, Tom!
Love love love this review. My top 5 . Shawn has shot up in height. Love seeing the whole family. Video Quality was awesome. Thanks Tom.
Same!
THAT was an excellent review. Thanks for giving us something different, showing the Northwest and local businesses some love, and giving us a love letter to wagons. Tell your family we said thanks as well.
A man dedicated to the job, much appreciated review-hope you enjoy(ed) the trip!

Tom and Savage Geese are my two favorite TH-cam channels.

Yet another one hit out of the park!!!! Great review, great scenery. If I were to buy a Volvo cross country, it would be thanks to you!!
I've watched 1000s of car reviews on TH-cam over the years. The minivan to Canada was one of my all time favorites.
For some reason that one sticks with people. When Sean went to college, a classmate recognized him it.
Love this review, hope you can do more of this kind involving road trips. Keep them coming.
No more road trips this year, unfortunately there's too much happening.
Tom, No need to apologize for a temporary reduction in production values. As a huge wagon fan, I prefer the Volvo 240 wagon assembled in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Your son gives us renewed hope for our world. May the future land in hands like his.
He's a great guy. Some woman is going to be very lucky.
If I didn't see the iPhone in the reflection of the car I would never believe this was shot with nothing less than a bunch of professional equipment. Another great review!
I did color grade, so there's that
Thanks for the stellar review and entertainment Tom! That Volvo is amazing; it's going to be my next car without question. I live in Oregon as well and I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. It really is a piece of paradise.
I’ve been watching for years! Always a great review Tom! Beautiful trip and family!
I love these types of reviews you do. Off script, exploring the world, seeing things I'd otherwise never know about. While still keeping doing a great car review.
Love watching your automotive reviews, Tom Voelk! It’s nice to see another modern station wagon in a country crowded with CUVs.
I wish all reviews were like this. Really enjoyable!
Great review Tom! I grew up in Vancouver, WA, and spent time vacationing at Lake Billy Chinook and Sun River and also staying in Bend, to ski Mt. Bachelor. Beautiful scenery to say the least...
I love this review! You should go on more vacations!
Yeah, my wife says that all the time
Excellent!!! I know you do not want to hear this, but the "shot on iPhone" is JUST FINE! Your filmmaking skills show through and the camera and audio are 95% as good as your expensive gear. Food for thought the next time you're thinking of upgrading equipmment.
Wow! You can tell the person behind the camera matters more than the equipment itself sometimes.
I enjoyed this review ... Infact I specifically enjoyed all the Volvo reviews that you have on your channel !!!! I personally like the one you did in Sweden... !!!
It's also crazy the video capturing capabilities smartphones have these days !!! They have gotten so so good !!!!
Even with just an iPhone, the quality of your vidoes far exceed every other TH-camr! Amazing scenery! Excellent job Tom.
Tom, I enjoy all your reviews but I really enjoyed this one. The mixture of real world application and the breaks with the adventure, scenery, food spots, etc was so awesome. Also, your son was a great assistant! Thank you!
He's a good guy, too bad he lives so far away.
So nice to see you out with your family
This is the best of your stellar body of work, Tom. 🙌
I second all of the previous commenters positive notes. This review was one of your best. Great job!
We love our 2020 V90 CC! Great car that gets a ton of compliments.
Thanks, Tom. Simplicity reigns. I'm a big fan of road trips AND Bend, so... And very nice to meet your family, too. Makes it all much more personal.
Oh yeah. Nice wagon.
Despite not using your normal equipment this video was still impeccably made! Great review.
One of the best reviews. We need more series like this. It truly gives the personal experience with the car. Truly beautiful family, too.
That was great fun Tom, I loved this roadtrip / review format. Many thanks for inviting us along for the ride!
"With one hand tied behind my back? Sure!" Who else but T. V. could do this so super, with just a smartphone! Bravo!
Hi, Tom! It was nice to see a some kind of more personal side of you connected to cars. About the infotainment system, from MY2022 the V90 get android automotive OS.
The most wholesome car review I've watched in recent years!
@@DrivenCarReviews indeed! Hunter is a really great guy-hope you can connect soon!
I just love your reviews. They are by far the best on the internet.
Best car reviews on the internet, never stop. We need to get your subscribers up!

Thank you for sharing your trip with us, its really nice to check out places I've never seen, ill otherwise probably never see it. So thank you!
The best Tom Voelk review ever!
Hands down my fave review of yours thus far! Much more entertaining and dynamic in content. You’ve got me really wanting to visit Bend now!
Awesome video!!!!!! Nice to involve family members too. Cheers! Love what volvo is doing for the passed years. Owned a first gen xc60... lovely suv still loving it!
Another great review Tom. Thanks to you and your family
Wow, seriously cool is an understatement... nice vacation Tom. I retire at the end of this year and have bookmarked this video for follow-up. (...as we are active hikers, cyclists and kayakers). Thanks! JP🎑

Um, good-looking family in a good-looking wagon going to good-looking places? Yes, please! Nice work, Voelks!
I don't like wagons but the Volvo V90 is designed so well you just love it.
One fine review. Food, travel, music festival and a car brand I have come to love!
I really like the family real-world review!
Tom, video quality was great. No need to spend so much time editing in the future, This was an excellent review. It’ll give you more time to spend with your lovely family. Yes, wagons are cool!
The editing took the same amount of time, the shooting was grab and go.
Even your off the cuff quick videos are awesome! Tom you always impress me! Those onion rings look delicious. Looks like a great vacation spot.
We have a regular V90 wagon, hands down the favorite family hauler we've ever owned. Had to pick it up in Sweden but that was totally worth the trip!
Sounds like the trip was part of the appeal. Mariko always wanted to do that.

One of your best reviews, Tom! Bend looks beautiful and love how you incorporated friends and family into a super informative review.
Thanks for the great review. My local dealership has one on the lot and it grabs my attention every time I go by there.
Beautiful car, beautiful scenery, beautiful family. Wonderful video. If you're still on vacation, enjoy it, and stop filming cars for a few days. Enjoy! 😄
that's what exactly a wagon review should be! thank you for set up the standard!
The scenery is stunning as usual!
Simply, your best review! BRILLIANT! and recorded on a phone?? 👍👍👍

I’m ok with this type of review Tom!! I drive a 2016 328i wagon so this would be at the top of my list if ever decide to trade it in :)
Such a great video and review. Truly, excellent.
Very cool review! It really helps seeing cars in real life usage. Definitely planning a trip to Bend, OR in the near future!
Loved the review and the car. Enjoy your vacations Tom. Your long time sub. from Portugal.
Great review. Loved the scenery. And yes, wagons are cool! Thanks.
Absolutely great review! You're a really great storyteller! Also, massive kudos for doing all this on a smartphone. Seriously impressive.
Great review!
Tom, I love the review. Love the car. Love your family and friends. I also love the location shots. You’re a class act. Well done!!!
This was perhaps my favorite review you’ve done. Please do more road trips or local scenery reviews with the car.
Great video, just remember it has voice control, so no need to troll through the menu to up the heating or turn the radio on etc etc ! Why do testers always leave this out of reviews ?
Great review of a great car. I love the Pacific Northwest backdrop scenery in Tom's videos.
Great Review Tom. Very Interesting. Great Car. Great to see you all enjoying your family time.
Great review. Nice seeing the fam.
Beautiful review, beautiful family 😊
No need for excuses. Great review. *edit This was my favourite of your reviews so far.
My favorite video of yours. Love the family time
Excellent vid! Beautiful family, in a beautiful car, amongst a beautiful landscape! 👏🏽 Many thanks!
Amazing review!! Love how you show things to do as well.
I am a year behind but this is a great video Tom, love wagons!. Thank you for your great work.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love this review 👍👍👍
Thanks for share, Volvo is the best brand in security, now are good improvements in tech, comfort and style.
Great blend of review, people, and fun. Ty for sharing, Tom.
What's that you say? You used an iPhone? Was that supposed to be a disclaimer?! This work deserves a Webby.
