    I am a local. The left turn arrows need to stay on longer to let more than 3 cars through. The new Maverick on the south end along with the new interchange are a BIG mistake! We don't need more dining. Development of everything should have stopped long ago except for jobs which there are plenty now. There is plenty of revenue in this town, fix the infrastructure. We don't need more "education" options. Conserve water!!! I've witnessed the City wasting much water by watering grass at 10 am on a scorching July day.

      The city should not even have grass! Gardening should be scree; water wise glasses, succulents and cactus. Saint George has a beautiful park that has all the different desert plants that flourish.

    Grew up in Cedar City in the 60's and 70's. So much has changed in Cedar after I left. (Class of 79) The university was just a collage when I there. I watch your channel just to see all the updates in the area. Thanks for keeping me updated.

    As someone from CA.. this all sounds like stuff we have in CA... a lot of it doesn't pan out. Waste of money. You want your city to grow the right way? Get a hold of that rising crime in Cedar City, and quick. If you don't have a safe city, you're going to circle the drain like so many towns in CA. "Public Transportation" and a bunch of public programs only support folks that don't want to work for a living. Good luck on your endeavors though

      We have a lot more Californians moving here and they tend to be on the conservative side fleeing the state. Appreciate Cedar City and the small town rural life. If you want big cities move to one.

    Lack of housing for +55 folks is an issue. Some of the dips leading from Main St. into various parking lots can damage the car. Can these be filled in a bit?

    • @LivingInCedarCity
      @LivingInCedarCity  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a couple of 55+ subdivisions coming online - don't have a timeline yet. And the dips - that's a city question!

    Next to impossible to find pet friendly apartments. Poor housing laws that don't protect renters from slum lords. Cronyism in the legal systems does not hold a lot of Mormon business men and residents accountable for illegal actions. Single parent homes are often discriminated against in town and in the Iron County School systems.

    A rail system between SLC and Vegas along the 15 would be super convenient. A Target store would be pretty nice too.

    • @LivingInCedarCity
      @LivingInCedarCity  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Chris - there's actually a rail system proposed that would go from Las Vegas to Idaho. Much of the rail is already in place. It's conceptual now, but there's momentum behind it and I think it will be a reality in the near future.
      As far as a Target or Costco, we're told we don't quite have the population yet. I know our Economic Development team is working hard thought!

    Where is the best place to live around Cedar City without worrying about floods.

    • @LivingInCedarCity
      @LivingInCedarCity  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Great question! The flooding we've had recently has been indiscriminate of location, as it's driven by monsoon rains and not spring snow run-off that is found in other locations. My recommendations are to make sure the drainage around the property is flowing away from the foundation and check that downspouts are properly extended away from the property. If a property is lower, keep sandbags handy.

      Like many communities, the Cedar City area is grappling with how to provide attainable housing for our folks who need it. Higher density residential areas are a part of that solution. I'm curious - do you have a specific concern about higher density zoning?

    Just do the opposite of what California has done and you will do great. Don't put Woke in school; concentrate on reading, writing and arithmetic. Have hands on learning:driver's Ed, music, art, woodshop, auto, home economics. You keep community by enforcing law and order. Don't let homelessness, garbage, drugs, or graffiti get a foothold. Businesses will come if it's a business conservative atmosphere politically. Conserve your natural surroundings and support ranchers/agriculture. They feed you. If you have city money put it in infastructures: roads, bridges, dams and buildings. If extra parks and bike paths. Do not put money into ugly modern art. Not needed.
