    I think it’s amazing that people spend $100,000 on a pretty jeep to rock climb and you guys are doing it in those old jeeps.
    Hats off to you guys, glad you and the jeep are ok

      Always tell new guy who spent 80k on a new JL Rubicon who goes out with our club got his wife holding the bushes back from scratching the sides of the paint usually they turn back head home.

      The difference is the new jeep is built stronger than these are. This jeep isn’t stock. It has lockers.

      It’s amazing to me that people don't spend a dime on safety equipment in old equipment like this and then take it on trails like this. It's a good way to get dead. He's lucky that rock under the steering wheel didn't come in and press him right through the bottom of that seat. Use your head.

    My kind of Jeeping. Friend and I got a MB3A (I think) Jeep stuck in beach quicksand back in the 70's. There was a thunderstorm blowing in and it was dusk. We had to dig and heave like crazy to get it out before the storm got to us. And we were in the middle of razor sharp pampas grass. We got his pick-up stuck in that mess too. I went back the next day and all the pampas grass was gone and the area looked much different. Glad we got it out. This kind of brought that memory back to me. Thanks guys! This was sweet to watch.

      You're 'misremembering' the model designation.
      CJ3A 'Universal' (1949 - 1953) was the civilian Jeep which was a slight revision of the CJ2A.
      MB (1941 - 1945) was the standard 'Truck, 1/4 Ton, 4X4, G503' of which over 360,000 were built by Willys Overland during WW2. Ford built over 280,000 of their Model GPW as subcontractor.
      All of the above were low hood, 'flatfender Jeeps' and parts were often interchanged / modifications made to them by successive owners. They were essentially the same machines with Willys 134 inch flathead, 3 speed floor shift with twin stick transfer case, 80" wheelbase... .

    • @douglasdever6134
      @douglasdever6134 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Doing trails in the Moab area you had to bring spare parts, tools and know who to repair. Spare parts were reliant on the vehicle and the known weak parts of the vehicle; and all vehicles one and new have weak parts.

    • @wesbarcus3761
      @wesbarcus3761 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@douglasdever6134 you are right, but you also have to prepare for the unexpected. I broke a leaf spring 3 and 1 half miles in at little sluice on the Rubicon. Fixed it with an 8 foot length of tow strap, duct tape, and home made spring clamps and drove it out. Then drove 200 miles home to get a new set of front springs. Can't carry a spare for everything, sometimes you have to get by with what you have, not what you wish you had. Thanks for your input and be safe. Enjoy.
