As many times as Matt's forgotten stuff and jeopardised the timeframe of a recovery... I'd say Tom *deserves* none. Fill up your fuel tanks EVERY recovery, Matt -- you're the captain of this pirate ship, lead by example! 😆
Matt, as the leader of the group, should develop a "check list" of everything that may or will be needed on the recovery that is not already loaded in the rescue vehicles and go over that check list prior to leaving the shop! Tom-Tom did NOT hear the order and therefore is not responsible for the missing keys.

Nah. No punishment is no fun. It’s got to be something sick, embarrassing, and funny. All of you go bowling and he has to wear a ballerina costume while yelling STRIKE! on his every turn.
Tomtom’s punishment should be to formulate a pre-recovery checklist. You should have a routine that occurs before EVERY call to avoid mistakes like this. Using a challenge response method to complete the checklist will involve two parties and greatly reduce the opportunity for mistakes to occur. This is what we do in aviation for each step of the flight. You guys have already employed this tactic with your 6 steps when entering a customers vehicle. Just take it one step further and implement a checklist for each phase of your recoveries. You guys are an incredible team and I think this would be a great step to increase your efficiency.
Agreed. Install checklist on dashboard with toggle switches red and green LEDs. Then entire crew can see status. Hook or acrylic box in clear view with customer keys. QED...
Great recovery, as always! You're right about the use of caravan: in France they use it (caravane) for both a camper trailer or a string of vehicules doing a long journey together. Here in Quebec, the mostly french-speaking part of Canada, we use the word "roulotte" for a camper-trailer but we use the word "remorque" for a trailer not used for camping/living. Now you can "word-drop" french words in your videos! Cheers!
The boss is responsible for making sure everyone understood their task and has carried it out as required. I have driven many times in a lot of snow and ice in the Alps and Norway. I can't believe those Jeeps are not on chains heading into that area.
Agreed, on those critical tasks you should always get confirmation the instructions are understood. Even when the instructions are as simple as grab the keys
Couldn't agree more. Considering how long they've been doing recoveries one would think they would be better organized and prepared. I would not blame any one person as it's a team effort with each person having strong and weak points.
A good leader takes all responsibility for his team, no punishment for Tom, from now on every recovery go over everything and make sure you have everything needed for the recovery! Your a great leader Matt and everyone makes mistakes! Great job getting all the Jeeps out safely! ✌🏼❤️🙏🏼
I think the punishment is more for content than anything else, because this is technically a media company now, as much as it is an off-road recovery company, which I think is reflected in the punishment they picked because I've seen quite a few options on here that wouldn't make for a super exciting content, but forcing Tom to build a bird house and pretty much the exact opposite way he would go about such a task is pretty good content and honestly not that much of a punishment
When flying my airplane, you always used the checklist so you didn't miss anything. You need a checklist that gets checked everytime you leave the shop. The first thing on the list should be fuel supply.
There's a gentleman in Colorado that has you guys to thank because if not for this channel, I would NOT have had the confidence to get him unstuck last night, just simple stuck in the snow but you can damage a lot doing this stuff. I realized when talking to this guy...I watch too many recovery videos because I sounded like I do this as a job. He was a bit nervous and I was like, "Pfft no worries, I know where to tow from since this vehicle has no good recovery points, lets keep in mind this strap is going to pull across and I don't want to pull off your bumper. Okay this is going to be a nice easy pull, I need you in neutral with your wheels turned this way, brakes shouldn't be needed but dont run into me and don't run over my strap." :)
Just make sure your tow points on both vehicles can withstand the forces but good job, lol it's crazy the things we subconsciously learn from TH-cam videos isn't it😅
You learn something new every day. Just because we don't notice, doesn't mean we're not learnin'! Good job on the recovery. Next thing you know, you'll have your own channel and be doing TH-cam crossovers with the Utah recovery channels. 😉
Tom gets NO punishment... regardless of the team members, the Coach is ultimately responsible! Matt needs punishment for not confirming everyone did their assigned job! 1 video every day for a week seems appropriate! Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
MOR recovery checklist: FUEL, (just fit up a pair of fuel can carriers on every second rig) KEYS, (on a commically oversized key ring- idea shamlessly pinched off another subscribers comment) 1X SET OF SNOW CHAINS, for those ice recoveries you guys do every other year... Love the channel, keep up the good work 👍
My vote... Give TomTom a generous raise for all of his hard word and dedication. Think of how many hours of frustration he has saved you from. Don't focus on this event.
Tom gets no punishment, a lunch at most. He is an excellent addition to the team . Meanwhile, Ed is like the dad you can’t hide anything from, he knows in a sec 😂
Matt at 13:04: "This is kind of an advanced maneuver!" .. also Matt, 30 seconds later, "We don't need this up there, do we!?". 😂 Love these gems and thanks for leaving them in unedited!
Tom's punishment.... I'm sure he feels worse than anyone else. Forgive, hug it out and make a plan so that it never happens again. That includes everyone! Love you guys. I came from a big Utah family of 9 kids. It was hectic every time we went anywhere. Good Luck!
The checklist idea is good. Also, in the military an order is repeated back. That's how you know you have communication. Rory says he didn't hear Matt. That would have solved it.
I think that Tom's "punishment" should be to make the signs to remind the team to take the keys with them, as well as having to make some keyholders (like a cupholder?) for each vehicle. Great videos as usual!
My dad would make me clean the inside of the work van even though the next day it would get trashed again. It only took once to learn that lesson. I find that making list's is the key to being consistent.
For a guy who lives where it doesn't even snow, Matt's ice-driving skills are insanely impressive. But if you had snow chains, that job would've been done in 5 minutes. I bet the Morrvair with chains would go about 90% of wherever the Bombi could go.
I was going to post the same. It seems like a pretty common sense thing to bring with you when you are going to face ice and snow. Had those fellows had even cable chains, there would be no need of a rescue. Then again, I guess it would make for boring youtube videos.
While I do believe chains could help in this situation, a vehicle with tires+chains is not even comparable to something track driven like theBbombi. The footprint with tracks allow you to float over basically any depth of snow, where as even with massive tires aired down tires you're gonna have issues burying your frame in deep snow.
@@YavorM-Yash, I live in a very snowy, icy climate. We use chains on ice a lot. They do work on ice, and they don’t break. I don’t know where your theory that they break came from. Maybe where you are chains aren’t very strong, but in America chains are very strong.
Communication takes acknowledgement. Just because it was said does not mean it was heard. You sir ( Matt ) are ultimately responsible. So... when leaving, have everyone say keys , keys, keys? Thanks for the great content. No punishment for Tom.
Tom is the sharpest pencil in this bunch and much undervalued imo, just because he is quiet and doesn't show off all the time. It's really easy when you give orders out to just check that they have been received. Also if it's the most vital piece of equipment, how about checking before you set off, "You got the keys, Tom?"!!!??
You are the boss Matt! It's on you ! Why punish Tom? Matt, don't you have fuel issues? Just saying ! Maybe a check list is needed before you leave the yard. A big sign next to the gate..... FUEL ? KEYS ? 🤔 🤣
There IS a reason that even the most "Maverick" commercial and military pilots COMPLETE a preflight checklist BEFORE hitting the runway. Even firefighters and EMS workers complete a checklist at the beginning of their shifts. It marks rescuers as PROFESSIONALS rather than amateurs.
@al2eken The best truckers due pre-trips. Watched drivers not do pre-trips and down the road, there they are side of the road . As you said professionals do their job and look professional doing their job. 😎
Even though I watch every video you guys release and have for a long time…I’m still absolutely blown away all the time at what a capable vehicle the morrvair is
Tire Chains and Winter Tires on all 4, they make a huge difference, especially for recovery vehicles. Please, at least keep chains in the vehicles, we don't want to lose you, guys and gals ... love your videos. While you're at it, maybe get some of those mini chains that fit your boots too for those slippery slopes. As for the keys ... we all make mistakes, keys happen.
Right like Tom is by far the most organized person in that shop. If he says he didn't hear Matt tell him to grab the keys then I don't think Matt told him to grab the keys.
Don’t feel too bad Rhett… it only took Ed 3 seconds to figure out what happened, so you know it’s not the first time he’s seen that sort of damage! (I have done it once myself…)
Honestly. My brother forgot to pull up the trailers jack so now it's bent and we use a forklift to put it on and take it off. And I popped one of our dually's tires with the supports for a gate. Stuff happens.
The perfect video to show what insanity looks like. Doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. Someone might want to tell Matt about tire chains and how they help improve traction in the snow.
Would one of you guys start telling us how many miles you have to go to each rescue while you're giving the weather report for the day it really be nice to know how far each trip is so that we have a sense of the time that you're actually on the road there and back,
Matt; Hint from a guy at least your dad's age. Get you shoulder examined by a doctor. I say this as a man who has had one shoulder replaced and one shoulder repaired in the past three years. Allowing an injured to go untreated will lead to much grief in the future.
FACT! As a 57 yr old who ignored a right shoulder injury for 40 years (yes I was that stupid) and has now suffered left shoulder injury, the combo has left me damn near useless. Putting on coats is hard, not that that is an issue for Matt (hahaha) but I too am at the point of requiring a left shoulder replacement at a minimum to be able to keep working. Painful and well it sucks. Get that shoulder looked at/fixed up now, don't wait, you will regret it!
If you carry a 10-15 lb. bag of deicer, or rock salt, you could avoid a lot of issues (and it is environmentally safe, & a lot cheaper than replacing a bumper). I use it with my two wheel drive on my buddy's half mile driveway up a mountain. It gives traction real quick & it doesn't take a whole lot. it works wonders. Matt, you could use a good pair of strap on cleats (studs) on your shoes. I use mine every winter. Also, you might try "snow socks" (for your tires) too, they work really well.
I forget who made mine but they're like rubber overshoes for whatever shoes are boots you're wearing. I walked half a mile on an icy Pier and didn't end up in the drink.
Tom needs to have a comically large key-shaped key chain that he has to use for a whole year, this will be a visual reminder for him to reflect on his key wrangling failures.
Someone needs to send Matt one of those keychain finders with buttons you press and tags that go on keychains that beep... Just be sure to mark it "will not function from 100 miles away" 😆

@@petrnemecek4379 finding a really good set of chains is a challenge, bulky rip you fender apart chains are easy to find but good chains for non industrial side tires is tough.

Hard to believe Tom failed key control duty. Matt hears himself give instructions. The boss needs to make a pre-movement checklist that includes keys. Hey brother, it's not a one-man show anymore... but it is the coolest one around. Keep it up.
Way , waaaay too much gets forgotten whether it be fuel or keys and Matt, you da boss, it's up to you to make sure your directions are understood and carried out. As a boss in this situation, I'd want those keys in my hands as I left especially given the frequency with which they get forgotten.

8 Radios 9 Cameras 10 Spare Batteries for radios and cameras 11 Snow chains/snow socks for winter recoveries 12 Tires aired up or down appropriate for the conditions expected
Matt, as the head of the whole MORR team, it really is your responsibility to make sure you have the keys to the vehicles that need to be recovered. And you also need to make sure all vehicles are fully gassed up and may you have extra gasoline. when you have the required keys and gas, then you can get a victory pie. As for Tom Tom, I would give him a pass as he feels bad enough.
You guys should really add cell phone signal boosters to the trucks. They work extraordinarily well when installed correctly, and you definitely would make good use of it.
This is called being "professionally unorganized", I love it! As a business owner, I personally use "old reliable", a checklist of everything I need before leaving and where it's located with a satisfying check mark once it's done, but that's just me.!
There should be no "punishment" Matt is ultimately responsible as the leader to make sure, in the process of recovery, that all aspects of every recovery are covered. Tim probably felt terrible enough. Add this to the beginning of the checklist process!

Having raised five kids of my own and been a boy scout leader, I feel Matt shares responsibility by not making sure that his instructions were received and understood.
Might want to consider getting cell phone boosters for the vehicles. Back in my oil days, we installed those for guys we knew would be in the middle of nowhere. Wasn't so much to track them but for safety. What if they got hurt somewhere out in the field and couldn't drive back and were in a dead zone.
Tom should get a raise. He’s the only guy still working for your shop. Lol. Also this is more your fault than Tom’s. How hard is it to implement a checklist?
Hey MORR crew, love the channel, You guys may want to invest in a cell booster, we use them at work (Railway) and we are out in the woods all the time, they just plug into your 12v outlet and work pretty good. Good recovery, those were some slippery conditions. Cheers from New Brunswick, CAN.

QED...
I thought that was Miss Lizzy job.
People who scuba dive and jump out of airplanes do this all the time!
Love how Matt coached Jefe through the obstacle instead of just taking over. That's a good leader.
But also crazy to see how differently both reqcted when sliding back down
This bunch uses team work to get things do . Congratulations

Not the first time they forgot the keys.. Top down. It's the bosses fault. :)
@@markellison143 Confirmation is key.
Sorry Matt, this is on you.
And don't forget about the saftey/survival equipment just in case you get stuck.
Great minds
Excellent point. I will be working on that.
I love how Ed immediately knew what had happen to that tailgate. Something tells me that Ed has some stories about trailers gone wild.😂😂😂
It was actually really impressive how far Matt made it up in reverse in the Morvair. That thing is a beast.
Actually?
The amount if floatation and footprint that thing has is insane, I bet he would've made it if he aired down some more
In ice like that on the rocks, makes you wonder if having chains would help him get some bite

Ending scene is epic! Love how Robby and Ed knew instantly what happened just from the damage. Great edit!
The checklist idea is good. Also, in the military an order is repeated back. That's how you know you have communication. Rory says he didn't hear Matt. That would have solved it.
WHAT!? What keys?

@@preachers4135 😆👍🏻👍🏻
Leave him on the hill. Matt has nerves of steel, and doesnt sweat the things he cant change. His good nature is the reason i watch.
I think that Tom's "punishment" should be to make the signs to remind the team to take the keys with them, as well as having to make some keyholders (like a cupholder?) for each vehicle. Great videos as usual!
Disagree, signs are for slogans, not checklist items.
I couldn't agree more! 👍 Fantastic idea
Great Job getting everyone out safely and with minimal damage.
I love how Ed took one look and knew what happened right off the bat.
You really had me flinch when the jeep hit the other jeep with the explosion. 😮😂
Then again, I guess it would make for boring youtube videos.
chains and a good jacket. Stop pissing about.
Actually chains will do no good in this situation. The chains work on snow, not on ice. On ice the chains will break. And the tyres will be damaged.
Completely agree
Absolutely this 👍
Yup that's what I do before locking my vehicle to venture into the back country on foot , I've got my keys I've got my keys, I've got my keys 🔑🔑🔑
Tom is the sharpest pencil in this bunch and much undervalued imo, just because he is quiet and doesn't show off all the time.
My favorites are Yak Traxs for shoes
I forget who made mine but they're like rubber overshoes for whatever shoes are boots you're wearing. I walked half a mile on an icy Pier and didn't end up in the drink.
