Great video! Remind new flyers that as they maneuver their drone, if they panic, just let go of BOTH sticks to allow the drone to simply hover. This may be obvious to us, but could save a drone or two for new flyers.

Great video! Something that new flyers should take note of is that for those of us who don't live in sunny California - expect their drone to freak out every few seconds about low temperature! I received my mavic mini last night and of course ran straight out and started flying. it was 12° Fahrenheit and the unit quickly decided it was too cold but beyond giving me an alert letting me know I still was able to enjoy around 20 minutes of flight at high speed, with crosswinds before it finally told me that it needed to come home and take a warm bath and have a cup of tea (not really!!) Thanks again for yet another great video and a very direct presentation style. I am definitely glad that I made you my first drone related subscription - after watching three of your videos you quickly went on my very short 'do not skip ads' list and I am also recommending you to my friends who are quite jealous of my new drone and are thinking about getting into the hobby!!
Watched this vlog before my mavic mini turned up, it really helped, three years later I'm still flying it and getting better, three crashes now, first was knocked out of the sky by a red kite being territorial, broken arm, second was flying into a football goal frame in a slow control sequence, new props, and the third one was breaking the gimbal mounts after an attempt at self catch landing went wrong. Every mistake is a learning opportunity! Thanks Aldryn!

Am an experience flier, 78 years old and have a couple of dji drones but because I got my mini late fall and it is too cold and snowy to fly until maybe march, your video is much appreciated. It is one thing to read the manual, but nothing beats a good visual demo. Have been a long time subscriber to your channel and appreciate all that you do on it. Happy Flying

I used to fly a single-rotor copter, back in the day. It was so difficult to hover. I've tried a couple of quad-copters since, but before they built in smart hovering. I can't believe how far quad-copters.. drones.. have come. Looking forward to flying the mavic mini! Thanks!
Recently purchased the unit. Finished part 1 and 2 of the start videos. I usually search for several different areas for instructional items before moving forward. Don’t think I will need todo this after watching your init8al videos. Now to fly the unit for the first time and look at a couple more videos to further items of flying! First time drone pilot, learning to use controls and features of the MAVIC MINI. I would like to fly it over ponds, rivers and lakes. Can you talk about the issues like, how low is safe, what happens to GPS connections and wifi connections, plus any other dangers I might not be aware of. Thanks. Your tutorials have been very helpful in building my confidence.
Just got the Mini and had my first flight today. Before heading outside I watched this video again and made a bullet list of the tips for pre-flight. I have a one acre lot with plenty of open space so it went better than I expected. Except for crashing into my cherry blossom tree when I wasn't paying attention. But it hurt the tree more than the drone. No damage. Plus one on the other comments. Your videos provide the most and best information per minute.
And remember if you get disoriented of over wellmed just let go of the sticks and the drown will stop and just hover. Catch your breath and return it to you slowly.
I'm a seasoned flyer but this video is absolutely spot on for beginners. I've shared it to the DJI MAVIC MINI Facebook group. Hopefully will put a stop to everyone putting up "I crashed my mavic mini" posts.
@@Kayshots Yeah you said absolutely right but I think mavic mini can't stay in windy conditions due to their ultra lightweight so that is why I think mavic air is a best option to buy and have more features. Mostly I travel in the mountains that I think that mavic air is better stay than mavic mini in windy conditions what do you think? Have a great day!😀😃😄🙂

I've owned just about every drone DJI and Autel makes, but I still enjoy your informative videos..One of these days when I'm in SD I'll bring my Inspire 2 and let you have a go at it..
One thing that I might suggest in preflight, much as say in a Cessna, is to run your fingers along the edges of the props and feel for deep gouges or scratches. I realized after a seemingly small crash that a couple of props were deeply scratched with the very ends of the prop slightly damaged. This caused a slow drift to the left when attempting to hover. Filing the imperfections down returned the drone to regular flight characteristics. (If the props were too damaged then of course you'd replace them.) Great videos!

The think that I sow is when you tape to record videos or pictures from the phone it goes to the phone memory and if you do it from the remote control they go to SD card. You can mention that in your next video because it is something that beginners should know.

Best take away from the video was the camera orientation at take off... of course I saw this after my first flight haaaa felt like I was looking through a mirror... the brain was on over drive where left meant right and right meant left.... haaa Ready for flight 2 in the morning !!!!! I’ve never (successfully) flown a drone before. I crashed my first cheap drone on the first attempt and messed it up pretty badly. My first 8 flights with my brand new Mini were before I found your videos (which recommended against first flights indoors) and all 8 were in my living room. I launched and landed successfully off of and onto a TV tray each flight. I figured out that I needed to use Mode C, and I had the guards on. I guess the point of my post is.....dang, this little drone is really easy to fly. I didn’t prang it into the Christmas tree or a wall. Tomorrow, I’m off to the park. 5 thumbs up.
Picking this thing up today and this is probably the 4th video I’ve watched. None of those others compare to your tutorial. Bringing up the cinema mode and what it does alone is key!
I’ve been researching a good beginner drone for a few weeks now, and your videos pushed the Mavic Mini over the top for me. Bought the fly more combo also, since the value is pretty substantial. Can’t wait to get this thing.

Thanks for taking the time to post these tips, I just got a Mavic Mini and these are extremely helpful as this is my first drone. I really like that you clarified the positioning of the antennas as some other videos I have watched did not make this clear or would only have them halfway extended. I also appreciated that you said to try doing figure eights to get comfortable with the flight of the drone, I think this will definitely help me get control of the drone and better help with orientation as well. You really take your time explaining things but are straight to the point in all your videos and this is greatly appreciated as I am just learning how to fly a drone, keep up the good work!

Outstanding video guide focusing on learning how to flight. Have watch lots of videos on the mini but they all get into many other functions, good to know too. Understand many bought the unit for pictures and videos but flight is essential everything else will follow.

I found out the hard way, updrafts over moving water and bridges. Everything worked out without crashing but it was a pucker moment:)

If your using a mobile phone put your phone in airplane mode to save calls while flying
Do you need the wifi or bluetooth from the phone to keep the communication with the drone?
@@williamlee1094 No. The controller uses wifi to connect to the drone and your phone uses that small cable to connect to the controller.
Does this affect map rendering?
And in airplane mode your phone can fly with the drone

I live like at the border for the restricted zone, it's a airport a few kilometers away from where I live but that airport isn't used anymore....

I’ve never (successfully) flown a drone before. I crashed my first cheap drone on the first attempt and messed it up pretty badly. My first 8 flights with my brand new Mini were before I found your videos (which recommended against first flights indoors) and all 8 were in my living room. I launched and landed successfully off of and onto a TV tray each flight. I figured out that I needed to use Mode C, and I had the guards on.
I guess the point of my post is.....dang, this little drone is really easy to fly. I didn’t prang it into the Christmas tree or a wall. Tomorrow, I’m off to the park.

Find a big open space. Can't recommend this enough! Indoors definitely needs prop guards - I found out the hard way!

Picking this thing up today and this is probably the 4th video I’ve watched. None of those others compare to your tutorial. Bringing up the cinema mode and what it does alone is key!
I’ve been researching a good beginner drone for a few weeks now, and your videos pushed the Mavic Mini over the top for me. Bought the fly more combo also, since the value is pretty substantial. Can’t wait to get this thing.

Thanks for taking the time to post these tips, I just got a Mavic Mini and these are extremely helpful as this is my first drone. I really like that you clarified the positioning of the antennas as some other videos I have watched did not make this clear or would only have them halfway extended. I also appreciated that you said to try doing figure eights to get comfortable with the flight of the drone, I think this will definitely help me get control of the drone and better help with orientation as well. You really take your time explaining things but are straight to the point in all your videos and this is greatly appreciated as I am just learning how to fly a drone, keep up the good work!

Outstanding video guide focusing on learning how to flight. Have watch lots of videos on the mini but they all get into many other functions, good to know too. Understand many bought the unit for pictures and videos but flight is essential everything else will follow.
