Fantastic lap! Great driving! This lap proves that it's not about the power of the car on the Nurburgring but mantaining the momentum with fast cornering speed and driving smoothely. Very tricky situation at the Belloff SS!
Wow, you nailed that lap! Awesome driving! I have gone from a 911 to an MX5 and I have no regrets! Don't get me wrong, I miss that flat 6 sound and push, but the MX5 makes up for it with sheer enjoyment and fun!
@@goddamnit for decades after it was introduced, a lot of people thought of the Miata as too happy and cute to be a real man's car. That's been gradually changing as more enthusiasts realize that even mildly modded, they are a weapon on track.
The exact video I was looking for. I wanted to see the potential of such a great car on the Nürburgring and you delivered. Obviously, when it comes to racing on the track, it isn't about the highest horsepower and this really emphasizes the point. Thank you for recording and posting. I wish there were other cars that were trying hard like you, so we can see how it measures up even more!
Sweet run! I just bought a supercharged '06 and can't wait to start autocrossing it. Such a fun little car. Feels like I'm flying even when I'm doing to speed limit.

See how it corners!! I regularly smoke everyone on a nice fast sweeping curve of a road in my immaculate n/c just close to where i live. Hopefully i'll never grow up lol. MX5 ? Only way to go unless youre made of money. Actually i have been put in a possition lately where i could go out and get say, an Elise, but ive had this car for nearly 5 years as a daily driver and she hasnt missed a beat. Too good to say goodbye to !! An absolute gem. Hey-wicked lap!!
Nice and neat and also good use of the mirrors, really nice to watch. I have BBR turbo on my NC, nice and linear and matched up with a quaife LSD which does juggle the power nicely between the back two wheels out of corners. Not sure if you are thinking of those for yours or similar, you are fast already of course and having fun.
They say that no matter what is driving on the ‘Ring that day, there’s always an MX-5 zipping around the bends leaving all the powerful big engine cars behind. So agile, so underestimated…
The 225/45 is a bit "high" as a tire and tends to touch everywhere. Especially if the car is very low to the ground. I took off all that useless plastic under the fender. Now the tire has nothing to touch! 😊
My wife has got a 2018 ND, it’s a great car. But this shows the car to be so much more…. Ours will never get driven like this, but it’s incredible to see the capability in the hands of a gifted driver 👍🏻👍🏻
I have been to the Nürburgring only once. How I would love, LOVE to take my 2019 GT-S there. Sadly, it is nine time zones away from my home on the California coast,
California... ❤️ The thing you should do, at least once a year, is cross the ocean and drive up and down the Nordschleife in a rental car. There are so many services of this type, you will surely find the right car for you!
Awesome lap, we had a little talk with Dani (MX5 NC) and the guy with the Lexus IS back in early July. I also have an ND1 with MeisterR Clubrace and was my first time around Nordschleife. I forgot to ask you if you had any issue with gearbox as a confirmed weak of the car.
There have been some problems with the ND1 and ND2 gearboxes but you have to contextualize every situation. How they were used, if they had special clutches or flywheels or even those stupid and useless short shifters... For me the ND gearbox is ok! I have only a custom clutch. Nothing more.
I want to do this!!! I want to do this for years now. But main hobby is ballroom dancing. …..I gotta do this before it’s too late. I live near homestead race track
That is some damn fine driving, makes me want a MX5 ND even more! Saving a for either an ND (buying new) or getting an NC and spending money on tires/rims/parts as needed. I see you have a video with an NC as well, how do you feel it compares to the ND?
ND and NC are two excellent platforms. Both, with the right development, are absolutely enjoyable. As for the differences, the NC is a little heavier and has more wheelbase. This makes it a bit more stable in fast sections. Choose the one you like best. You won't go wrong! 😉
@@marcoquaranta7906 Thanks for the reply! Located in middle of no-where Canada and manual transmission Miata's are not common, although a lot of automatics (not getting one of those). Luckily not in a rush, but if I don't find a nice NC in the next year I'll just get a new ND (used ND's are basically same cost as new). Will be interesting to see if anything changes in 2024, or if they will announce the next model of MX5!
@@marcoquaranta7906 I figure the next MX-5 will be a hybrid as Mazda is dipping their toes in that water. Plus many governments are pushing for full EV in the next 20 years or less, so maybe even a full electric car after that. If the ND is the last it is one hell of a way to go out!
Hi, did you do something about consistency on the steering ? Mine is on coilover and sway bar from k&w but the steering feel bad, I mean it’s to easy to turn the wheel and you don’t have a lot of feedback from what is happening. Apparently increasing the offset of the wheels to have more wide is the only “easy” solution? Great driving ! And what a picture
The ND's steering could be firmer, it's true, but it's not fair to badmouth it, it does its job. As for the sensations, I personally find them good. The car responds perfectly to every input.
What's your suspension setup - damping, sway stiffness, alignment? i have Whitelines and Ohlins on my NC and haven't worked out yet if I still need the sways. They are on their softest setting and still seem a bit too much. Car is very neutral though, so a great improvement on its stock understeer bias.
Setup development is a complex matter, it takes time and tests to find the ideal setup. And a track like the Nordschleife requires further precautions for everything to work well...
Great ride! I would like to try to do the same thing with my Mazda 3 but in France there are too many intersections and speed cameras..😅😂 With the AWD it helps a little anyway.. But congratulations for this driving!! 👍
Great driving and a well set up car. What tyres and pads? Is it on ITBs? Do you realise that of all the drivers who politely got out of your way you didn't acknowledge a single one of them?
The blinking red light is because I have Recaro Pole Position seats and I didn't put any resistance. The engine warning light is due to a malfunction of the second lambda sensor.
