I tried using these because my friend who didnt want to lube got these for his board, and I have to say, they convinced me that factory lubed switches can be great. Will be trying more factory lubed switches in the future.
I believe using a gasket mounted board allows for the best interpretation of sound and ease of comparison as it is more isolated (Less sound of the case)
Most plastic tray mount boards have a pretty inconsistent sound between areas of the keyboard, and besides its mostly the keyboard itself that changes the sound so putting expensive switches in a cheap keyboard wouldnt make it sound good automatically
I have L+F Ink Black V2s and from your sound test I can't really tell much of a difference. Definitely sticking with mine. Used to run some lubed OG Holy Pandas using Invyr housings, but then I switched to using only linears. Vintage Blacks are overrated IMO especially for what some people are charging. I really need to go on r/mm and resell the switches I'm no longer using.
Just installed these in my Q5 Pro. They sound extremely muted on a polycarb plate. I feel like you need an aluminum or brass palte to really bring out the sound.
Good video, but man. I have this level of dedication for some stuff like knives, but I just can't with keebs 🤣 I just get a ducky shine and go on with my day. I rarely even hear my keys anyways since I have headphones.
I wear open back headphones, because I love the sound stage you get from a nice pair of open backs and I hate sweating my ass off wearing closed backs for hours on end. And with open backs I can definitely hear my own switches somewhat even with a video playing if it's not really loud.
I didnt clean them at all lol. All I did was lube springs with 105g0 and 205g0 on housings. For the stems, I simply spread out the factory lube since there was already so much
@@wombatsu1924 No problem lol. No, I'm pretty sure the factory lube is not 205g0. I also wouldn't recommend you add any more lube onto the stems as it would lead to over lubing. The factory lube is already more than enough.
@@khoinguyenphamtrong4637 No the poles are regular. However, their top housing is designed so there is not inference on north facing boards with cherry keycaps
ordered tofu 65 with oilkings kbdfans white keycaps and foam from kbdsfans gonna do 3 layers of tape foam i dont have lubes(prohibited to import to my country sadly) so wont be able to lube stabilizers (stock cherry stabilizer) Do you think i can get creamy sound from this built?
tangerines seems good for feels and sound, oil kings are very pricey and sells out quickly, but very good for sound as well, id choose tangerines so i dont have to wait for it to go back on sale
Have you tried longer typing sessions on those? If so, how do they feel for those? I’ve never tried a linear switch that was heavier than a cherry red and I wonder if they’d feel heavy.
Yup I have, they are currently in my daily board, the qk65. Probably one of my favourite switches so far, up there with the gateron cjs. I also used to type on lighter switches but got used to the heavier springs after time.
0.65 a switch is too high for these honestly I'd go with Akko blacks or matcha greens and then lube them, they go for 0.27 and personally once lubed sound better than these gateron
Overall these switches are smoother and more consistent compared to akko switches. In addition, they feature a unique deep tone which most other switches do not have. Akko switches are amazing for their price but these are also a solid deal. All comes down to personal preference though
I own akko jelly blacks, matchas, and oil kings and can 100% say that the akkos, while being good, are not in the same league as oil kings, even stock oil kings are considerably and noticeably better than akkos.
@@benjaminlee2669 meh, personal preference These aren't worth almost 3 times the Akko for me, there's better switches at that price point Would have been viable for 0.45 If i really had to spend 60+ bucks on a 90 switches set only, i wouldn't go for gaterons regardless
@@thunderarch ig but comparing them to other ink variants and like almost all jwks (that are designed to get a similar sound signature) i would say they are pretty worth it. Akko switches are on the scratchier and more basic sound signature side from what i have tried, better than like a ks3 regardless tho. In terms of 60 dollars for like 90 i do agree i would probably go to tecsee switches, however you cant deny gateron hasnt stepped up their game recently
They sound awesome even with factory lube. Thanks for the comparison vid
They are actually factory lubed

Great editing and video btw, really liked the transparent keycap effect and the concise video format.
@@obentoubako Haha thanks! And yeah, gateron has really stepped up their game with their newer switches, impressive to say the least.
@@YBBK For sure! I'll look forward to more reviews from you in the future, maybe one of them will convince me to get some new switches :)
In my opinion sound better than the China Joys but sound almost literally the same stock and lubed
Yup their stock performance is really good. Really depends on your personal preference
Wait, so that’s what CJ stands for? Lmao
Yeah lol
China Joy?
China Joy
its carl johnson

CJ has the clearest sound, but due to the lightest springs used between those three, the sound is more clacky.
I agree with the clearest sound part. However, Im pretty sure for most of the time, heavier springs result in a clacking upstoke, not the opposite
No lube is needed for these beauties.
Absolutely great to use.
Maybe try putting switches in budget keyboards so we can rlly see how they sound as most of us have budget keyboards like the gk61 and rk61

Those are not budget, those are straight cheap. At that point you shouldn’t even worry about the switches lol
@@YBBK i have a tecware phantom 87, wonder how it might sound
you can try buy 1-5 switches if your country has a local stores that sell individual switches

Gateron Yellow pro are still the best for me
Why do th CJ's sound the best here 🫣
They sound like a louder gateron inks

They sound good stock cuz theyre factory lubed

personally, L+F sound the same the same as stock, but thats just me
Yeah its really hard to tell them apart through a video lol. In person, its more obvious but still very minimal
in a video, it’s hard but irl, there’s a big difference imo
@@deqresso5533 I'd still say the difference in minimal
If you consider the oil kings great midrange linear switches, what do you consider high end switches?
