- I thought it would be fun to do a video on all the garments and accessories (just a few) you can make with one yard of fabric. As always visit our website at www.massonlifes... for links on the where you can get the patterns and fabrics I talked about in this video.
Also if you are in the United States a lot of these patterns will be on sale this weekend at Joann's. The sales begin on August 11th, 2022 and end on Sunday August 14th, 2022. Butterick is $1.99 and Vogue will be $4.99 (the lowest price you can get these patterns for, so stock up!). Sales are in store only and not online.
UPDATE: I found one more pattern that only needs one yard of fabric! The Soller Top from Itch to Stitch only requires one yard of fabric. The dress will be a tad more but its a nice little top and different from the usual t-shirt pattern. itch-to-stitch...

These change (alllll the time) but to give you a reference on my measurements since we are sewing: I am 5’5” and my measurements are as follows, upper bust 44”, full bust 45.5”, waist 39”, hip 46.5”
I haven't had time to search for patterns to use for my one yard cuts so this video came at the perfect time. Thank you for the info.

It sure is, classic pencil skirt but with a twist.
I sometimes end up with extra fabric, so it’s a great idea. I had some royal blue linen left when I made my daughter a dress and the shorts pattern from McCalls(you ended up taking it back) I liked too. Not too short/long, add it up in my usual size and boy did they not use their regular block for sizing. They were way to tight at low hip area, so my other daughter is getting them. They are ultra cute, but the sizing was off. Oh well, no more scrap!
Interesting you had that issue. I think it was a simplicity pattern with the shorts, glad I took it back after reading this. I would have had to grade them and there are plenty of other patterns out there. At least your daughter can wear them and they are not a lost cause.

I’m only 5ft 2in and in the 60s when mini dresses were in fashion, I routinely made my dresses out of 1 yard.

Thank you for these ideas. What was the number on the Butterick swimsuit pattern?
There are two butte rick swimsuit patterns. B4526 and B5795 (its only available in 18W and up).
I liked the video. I hold onto my scrap fabric. My next project is a pair of shorts with two different fabrics. I have to be economical. I am on a fixed income. Everything is becoming more expensive.

@@furbaby7116 That's how I got them I signed up, dont' ask me where because I don't remember if it was at the store or online\. I was talking to our sales lady and she had casually mentioned they were doing away with those. I wonder if that is true. I don't think its a good idea. I love looking at catalogues and flyers. But obviously I'm old school in that sense. You can also keep track of it on your own.... so this week is Butterick / Vogue. Then next week will be McCalls. The following week will be Simplicity and it cycles again. Every now and then they will do all three brands along with Burda on sale but that is usually done over a big holiday like July 4th, Labor Day or Memorial Day. Not always but they do it. Mostly to clear out the drawers. Do download the app, I wished they would just post the ads a few days before so we know can really look at it with close eyes and figure out what we need.
Do you wear contact lenses?
I do not, I have horrible allergies!
