Thanks for this information. And thank you for telling people to buy local! I live in NYC and I do what I can to support local businesses. It matters and it makes a BIG difference. My local businesses always remember me and are most appreciative for the effort.
Fab tops with 1yard of fabric love you and the fact you say yard you won me over and best of all no stupid music your so nice and down to earth and love yoursewing room colour i definetly be looking for more of your work
So grateful I stumbled onto your TH-cam channel, I love it. I love the idea of 1 yard tops clustered together to choose from. They all look quick and easy to whip up. I look forward to seeing more of your videos now that Ive found you. Thank you for sharing your sewing knowledge.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Have several 1 yard pieces that I wanted to make into tops. And my old age is finally getting into PDF patterns which seem to be more of my liking. Thanks once again.
I was away in San Antonio for a few weeks and found some nice clearance fabric. It’s so nice to know that whatever it is, I can come to your channel and find help. Thank you so much Kim! You really are a huge blessing to me and so many others. I just printed the curve hem tank from Love Notions and look forward to making it with my clearance 1 yard of fabric!! ♥️♥️♥️
Thanks, I love some these tops. I wear very few tanks but I live in T's. I live up at the Arctic Circle so my few days of warm weather one or two tanks is all that's needed. My summer clothes can last for years.
Thanks for this information. I have taken a year (and a bit) away from sewing. Just lost the desire. Now I am so so far behind on what is out there. This really helps to get back into it. Love your videos.💕. Really behind here too. Binge watching.
Hi Kim, I am so happy to have this resource for one yard of fabric. Great choices and I have made a couple of them, Ellie and Mac curve tank and everyday tee. I found them easy and addictive. I think it was 2014 I bought three or four knit fix bundles from Girl Charlie they are great for these stash busting patterns. It was a great way to try different types of knit fabrics. I have the Love Notions Luna and Sunday patterns I have not tried yet. Thanks so much for sharing Kim, have a fabulous day Val❤️🇨🇦🇬🇧
I was in a head on collision with a 18 wheeler and sustained horrible injuries to my face along with others. The scarring was horrific and I was told I had to wait at least a year before I could get any cosmetic surgeries because of the other injuries that needed to completely heal. My self confidence went to the bottom of the barrel. I wouldn't go out of my home & covered my face even when my husband looked at me. What I saw in the mirror was a frightful monster ( of course looking at the only 2 photos of me from that time I looked worse to me than I actually looked but it was still really bad). My grandmum had taught me to sew and in my teen years after a death in my family I was struggling with. She, I and my friend would sew together for hours on end. It was a wonderful experience & we were both on top of the world with each finished project or new skill mastered. This same friend showed up at my door after my hubby called her in desperation with her arms loaded with bags of fabric, spools of thread & patterns galore. She said " We're sewing" and marched past me. I went to my bedroom and hid in horror. She & hubby dug out my sewing machine, set it up,made sure it was working then came to the bedroom and practically drug me to the dining room where she'd set us up. My machine on one side of the dining table, hers across from me. She fanned out patterns in front of me & said "pick". I said no & she replied she wasn't leaving until we'd done some sewing. She's always been insanely stubborn. So we sewed for a few hours. I had to admit I felt better. Not good but better. She came back nearly every day for 10 months to sew with me. As I tried on my new clothes I didn't see my face. I saw my new garment and beamed. The scarring turned from ugly red to ugly pink that could be mostly covered with a heavy foundation. She finally coaxed me out of the house about 8 months later to go to a fabric store. I was in heaven. I felt whole & good. Eventually I had a lot of cosmetic surgery and the only clearly visible remain is a long scar across my forehead I can cover with bangs. The rest I can mostly cover with a medium foundation. Sewing truly renews a broken spirit. A wonderful caring sewing buddy friend & sewing are what miracles are made of.
I know your review was for knit tops, but I just wanted to let your readers know about V9456, View C is one yard of 45 or 3/4 yard of 60 inch fabric, and it's a great top. Only the sleeveless view with the buttons on the back is
I just bought my new JUKI DX-1500 from there plus had my two Janome machines fixed. Love, love, love that place. It is quite the experience to walk in and see all those sewing machines all lined up, ready for you to sit down and try them out. I already researched what sewing machine I wanted and he had it in stock. What a great experience. It was well worth the trip for me.
Are you close to my area? I live in Perrysburg. And yes, if I didn’t live as close as I do to Sewing Express, it would be totally worth the trip. I actually forgot to mention that I have been buying machines from him since the 1980s!
Dorothy’s Daughter I live in Napoleon, which is situated between Bowling Green and Defiance. Shop in Perrysburg and Toledo all the time. I was surprised when you started talking about Sewing Express in Sylvania, I thought oh my we must live near each other. Nice. Just discovered your channel a few weeks ago and just love it.
New subscriber here. I heard TomKat Stitchery mention you and wow. I am gonna have a binge watching evening with your wonderful videos. Thank you so much for sharing you knowledge with us.
Hello :) I love that you model your creations it makes such a difference to see how it moves and how it sits when deciding what style to make. I also love that you use your spiel to promote your local stores, we also say here ‘ If you don’t use it you lose it’. I’m not a dress maker, more craft sewer but I have a beautiful 13yo granddaughter who is very tall and ‘slim’ and I think I could make her some of these tops so thankyou from Australia 🇦🇺
Kim. I didn't realize until recently that you and I live near by each other. I live in Monroe, Michigan and I am a very old seamstress. I really enjoy your tutorials and I will be watch them and trying to expand my wardrobe.
I don't know exactly where you live but I know where Sewing Express is. I just had my Juki MO1000 serger fixed by Bob. I would very much like to meet up some time.
Boy am I glad I hung on to those 1 yard pieces of knits! This is an awesome list and who doesn't need a few tanks in the wardrobe? And, Kim, I can't thank you enough for that wonderful little trick for curved hems! Genius! Hugs!
I just subscribed....I found your channel accidentally and am so glad I did! God bless you too! I happen to love your laid-back, chatty style! I feel as though I'm listening to a REAL person.
What a lovely lady! Quite skilled decades ago but have become so rusty and forgotten so much I’m now relearning all over again and loving every minute of it. Love the Petal top but would have to adapt with long sleeves - bell style would look lovely and as a very busty lady prefer v necks that are much more flattering than round necks for me. Have subscribed.
I'll be trying that hemming with fusible thread. I've always had an awful time with curved hems. Thanks! I do without a whole bunch of "stuff" because 1) I'm low income, and 2) I try not to shop at big box stores or online. I'm sure all the independent stores appreciate your mentioning the advantage of shopping the little guy. I know I appreciate it, because I get sad and disappointed every time one closes.
I'm excited to see so many cute patterns from companies I'm not familiar with! Especially shelf bra ones. I own a couple with bra cups but it never occurred to me to make one!
As a garment sewer for decades and lover of all things sewing related, I wasn’t surprising when your channel popped up today -so I took a half hour to watch this video.... and surprise bonus ... you are only 80 miles north of me!!! An almost next door sewing sister. Excited to get to know you through your channel.
Wow, Marilyn! Are you in Lima area or Tiffin (trying to figure out what towns are 80 miles South). I am in Perrysburg. I live very close to where the Turnpike crosses I-75.
Dorothy’s Daughter ha ha ha ... I’m in Van Wert County just west of Lima. Born and raised in Toledo so I know about where you are. Really appreciated your shout out to your local machine dealer... we just lost another one (to retirement) by me. Let the fun continue!
You have become my favorite sewing channel! Always excited when you post a new one, I already know it's going to be great. You deserve so many more subs and I know you will get there! Thank you!
Your video came up as a suggestion when I was watching another sewing channel. I loved it! I am looking forward to watching many more. And, yes, I did subscribe and press that bell! LOL
Thanks, Kim! I have several of these patterns and will go stash shopping for one-yard fabrics :) I just came across my fusible thread and couldn't remember why I had it! Thanks for the reminder!
Hi Kim, great video, great hints and ideas. I don’t know what anyone means by “too chatty”. You talk normal to me. Maybe it’s a regional thing but I’m from CT and you speak just fine. Keep on keeping on. 😀
Hi Dorothhy found your channel today by coincidence, I did subscribe because I enjoyed a lot of watching and believe I'll be coming back to follow all the beautiful patterns and ideas, Stay safe
Thank you for this! I am new here. I totally agree that we all no matter our size and shape need clothes that we feel good in. I want to try some of these.
Hey there from Fargo, ND. I was happy to see this new channel. I am trying to branch out into garment making and don't really now where to start. I think I will find a lot of great support here. Wish me luck LOL.
Thanks for this. My new favourite top pattern is the Keep It Simple Tee by Pattern Emporium. It has a few different neck versions. I have made a sqaure neck, crew neck and a roll neck so far.
Love love love the La Bella Donna tee, thats my quick sew go to dolman sleeve pattern. Also try the DIBY ABB (anything but basic) tee another go to pattern with sleeves plus it’s a FREE download on their web site. Just made several tees to post on Joy Bernhardt tee challenge using the Fit Nice System top. I must have 30 tees of various sleeves and lengths. A girl can never have too many tops. I am currently obsessed with sleeveless swing dresses, knit and wolven, I work from home and they are my everyday summer outfit.
This was a great video. I often wondered if there were any patterns for the leftover fabric from past projects. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Hi Kim, could you do a video on identifying bodice problems. For example, how would you identify a forward shoulder problem? Have a great day. Thanks for the lovely video.
I bought my Viking Topaz 50 from Sew What's New & Yarn too in Islip NY. I got stuck in the middle of a project and Linda helped me through so I could finish it. That doesn't happen if you order online to save a few bucks.
Hi , I love the 1yard patterns you recommend. Do u have anything in a video that shows us how to print them out and how to put them together? I love to learn.
Hi Kim. Thank you for this. Just want to make sure that bra straps do not show with either the Curved Hem Pocket Tank or the P4P Essential Tank. (I can adjust to eliminate if they do, but it's always better if I do not have to adjust for bra straps poking out!)
I have to get back to sewing my two dresses. I had problems with the bobbin and the feeding grid grabbing the fabric in. I managed to fix the problem, but I do worry about sewing with thin fabrics and knits. I was admiring your dress in this video, hanging up beside you, floral print! It looks very nice. Will you show us the pattern or sew along?Great info in your reviews and I never heard of fusible thread, so I may check that out.
Hi Kim! I’m wondering if there is any trick you can share on hemming a curved hem? Maybe even a quick tutorial.? I am experienced but I seem to have hit or miss quality with my curved hems. I love how they look. I just got a new Janome Skyline 6 and also the Janome air thread serger. Oh my is that a nice machine! Wow. Life changing actually. My productivity is doubled for sure! I’m sewing so many things it’s hard to begin. Lots of dresses and summer tops. Also a ton of thrifted restyles that are awesome. I think I may send you some photos of makes soon.
Thank You so much Dorothy’s Daughter for this video - I found it very useful and I will be looking into some of the patterns that you have mentioned. May I also mention that I’m really Enjoying Let’s sew pants that fit. Look forward to the rest of the videos 🐶
I don’t know if this was mentioned or if I missed it, but I would be very interested to see how you do a shelf bra with cups with for instance a cami or other knit top or even/and a bathing suit. Thank you.
Hi Kim. I am making my way through some of your videos and I wanted to ask (only answer if/when you have time - no rush) a question. Do you recall the fabric that you used for the La Bella Donna, the one with you in the photo. I absolutely love that pattern on the fabric. I have such a hard time finding these beautiful fabrics that I see in yours and others videos. Our local store sells very little of what I like, and I seem to get lost in the online shopping scenario. Thank you so much for all of the content that you create to support people like me who just love to sew.
Hi. Yea for older women. Sewing, knitting and reading are all my favorites. Thank you.
Great video with clear explanations & at last age appropriate designs for a lady over sixty with curves. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much for these videos. It gives us great information about the differences , which are hard to see in a pattern.Thank you.
Yes. Sewing is the avenue that I agree ☝🏻 makes me happy. God bless you too. It helps me out in my Ministry. Thank you.

I love the top you’re wearing. 🙂

Great video! Thank you again.
Kim, God bless you for reminding us that not all women are models and to accept who we are. And we can wear clothes that fit our shape.
Hi Kim
I am new to your channel. I love the way you interact with your subscribers and give valuable sewing tips. Thank you and I will stay tuned!
Thanks for the pattern ideas and for the curved hem tip!
I'm excited to see so many cute patterns from companies I'm not familiar with! Especially shelf bra ones. I own a couple with bra cups but it never occurred to me to make one!
Dorothy was my Grandmothers name. She is the one who helped me learn to sew. I’ve been sewing since I was 7. I’ll be 48 this month❤️❤️❤️❤️
As a garment sewer for decades and lover of all things sewing related, I wasn’t surprising when your channel popped up today -so I took a half hour to watch this video.... and surprise bonus ... you are only 80 miles north of me!!! Some great suggestions for tops.
Nice choices.
Love love love the La Bella Donna tee, thats my quick sew go to dolman sleeve pattern. My first time here. Like the content and in a kind way I just want to mention this is way to chatty for me, Lovely sewing. Great patterns too.
Thank you. I appreciate the honest feedback.
True but genuine. Love to know how this lady would cope with my clipped, fast English accent Lol!
JaynieB I generally change the channel because I can’t understand what’s being said. Otherwise, I stay tuned

Looking forward to more pants fitting. I need lots of help with FBA, full bum adjustment.
They don’t show my bra straps. I know everyone is different, but they definitely hide mine! ❤️
Just found your blog and do love it. A little confused on how to get the patterns.
The links to the patterns are in the video description. If you have difficulty, let me know.
I don’t know if this was mentioned or if I missed it, but I would be very interested to see how you do a shelf bra with cups with for instance a cami or other knit top or even/and a bathing suit. Thank you.
Your fit is excellent. Nice video.
Thank you so much!
I am curious if the slow Sunday racer back tee can be made with the regular back ( not the racerback) without the sleeves?
Thanks again for another helpful video, you rock! 😀 was wondering if you know of a 1 yd top for woven
