It’s because a very high proportion of the uk live within high to extremely high hard water areas. The salt acts to stop limescale build up and makes the tablet/powder work far better (soap doesn’t bubble up in hard water) and helps it rinse to a cleaner finish. It’s annoying of course that it is a big deal, but where I live it definitely makes a massive difference to the performance. I previously lived in Scotland, which meant I lived on hard granite. There was no need to add salt there as there wasn’t any significant calcium carbonate in the water. Hopefully that interests either you or someone else. There’s method in the madness!
i have an intergrated bosh slimline with nearly all the same functions it is brilliant at cleaning but found out it was so good that when i took out the baking tray i was using it ripped off some of the black covering😂 have to wash them by hand now but it is amazing

We would always recommend to use salt and rinse aid in a dishwasher, but don't forget to adjust the setting on the dishwasher so that it uses the correct amount of salt for the area you are in.

In the central panel, four signals, special salt refill indicator (4), Rinse aid refill indicator(5), WLAN display (6), and Water Supply display (7), In the manual, I need to press Setup 3 Sec. repeatedly until both 5 and 7 symbol flash, however, I cannot see that. Even more, I cannot the condition that both 4 and 5 flash (in your video). I can only see, 4 only (setting for salt refill), 5 only (setting for rinse aid), 4 and 7 together (extra dry), 4,5,7 together (that is for factory reset). Do you have any ideas? Thanks

I've just bought a slimline hotpoint and it just doesn't clean glasses at all. Tried everything and now thinking of returning it. Does anyone know how this performs on glasswear? Thanks
Its strange that your Hotpoint isn't cleaning the glasses at all. I assume you are using a good quality tablet and rinse aid inside the dishwasher? This Bosch machine we sell very well and have very few issues if you were looking for an alternative to your Hotpoint.

You wouldn't normally need it if the machine is pretty clean to start with, although if you haven't done it for a while then it could be beneficial to use a cleaner in there too.
Me again - Just to say Cutlery basket - slotts are too small for some cutlery - so put my old Hotpoint one in much better design basket - keeps cutlery separate as well.
Good Video very informative. I have one of these Bosch SPS2IKW04G Slimline. When working was good - even the Home Connect kind of works - BUT Bosh can't connect to it!! BUT currently after 1 month it has stopped working. So after following all the instructions to reset it still refuses to allow any buttons to be operated. Even tried what Bosh Tech support called 'a Hard Reset'. So unplugged, to cut power, for 60 mins - not 59 mins, not 61mins BUt 60 mins - okay done that - waste of time - well 60 mins! . . . . Was just wondering do you know of any Button sequence pushes, to get it to reset itself back to an out of the box status?? Even the Home Connect App gives no clues.
Had to call out the Bosch technicians - they didn't have the software on their Bosch tablet to 'talk' to the machine ! Ended up having to get it replaced! So with the new one did NOT use the 'Home Connect' - I decided getting a text telling me it had finished when somewhere else was pointless! Not using the ' Home Connect' is the best option. Until they give the button pushes to achieve an ' out of the box' status with out having to get a technician out, Avoid using the home connect options. Hope that helps.
installation instructions show removal of top lid .... illustrates inserting a screw driver under .. Anyone done this without destroying the lid please .
Normally if you get a flat bladed screwdriver and prise the top of it off from either side it should come off ok. Use a cloth or towel so as not to damage the door in the process though.

It is a bit fiddly, but if you open it up and push down on the knife rack it should come off ok

I cannot set the water softener. It's supposed to show 1,2 or 3, nothing appears. How can I set it? Is machine faulty? Only just bought it.
I would doubt it is faulty, i have just had a look at the instructions and it explains how to do set and adjust it on pages 23 and 24. Good luck

If you have this machine, then it is more than likely to be used at the front of the machine at the bottom.
