I just want to say thank you for such a detailed step-by-step video to go through the installation process. I have a Bosch integrated dishwasher and handleless kitchen and I have been using my dishwasher without the door and fixngs for half an year. There are so many unncessary things in the manual and it is way better to see a video like this to explain all the parts and steps. I have completed the installation last night and it looked perfectly aligned now. No more eye sores and stepping to keep the door open!
I'm currently fitting my own kitchen with no experience. I unraveled the instructions for my dishwasher door and thought i had it upside down about 3 times lol Thank god for your video, so helpful and so professionally done - Life saver! Thank you!
Andy, ur a star you are absolutely right, the instructions to install a Bosch integrated dishwasher are abysmal!! I was sitting there with a confused expression, till I discovered your excellent video, it was even the same model, that I was struggling with, I am now and enthusiastic subscriber, and just wanted to drop you a line to thank you for helping a very confuse Scotsman!! Well done you!
Mate, what a tidy and & clean craftsman you ar. There's nothing better than watching someone who takes pride in their workmanship (like varnishing the edges of cutouts). My wife was saying how impressed she was with your work and pity he's in the UK and not in Sydney as we need some cupboard built in our kitchen...and you've got a new subscriber to boot!
Useful video - thanks. Our dishwasher went kaput but we were thinking of changing the kitchen. So... bought one off E bay (with integrated door panel facility) for a tenner. That was ten years ago! Just had the kitchen re-painted, the dishwasher remains! Still working perfectly!
Excellent guide, thank you. Got a new NEFF and couldn't work out how I was supposed to nail the metal plate into the underside of a granite work top. Nothing in the instructions, no support online, raised a support ticket .... then found this. Job done!
Thanks for the great video. As has been stated previously, the Bosch installation instructions are incomprehensible and your helpful step by step guide was an absolute life saver. Couldn’t have done the job without your video.
This is gold. Thanks a lot for the explanations. Lifesaver 😊. The Bosch manual make the installation daunting. Not to say that the cabinet door fixing dimensions on the drawing don't fit with the screws positions on the dishwasher door. Thanks again. All the best.
Just want to add my thanks and general sense of relief since finding your excellent video Andy. The effort that you have put into producing such a clear set of instructions is currently being celebrated in my home, now that the new dishwasher is quietly whirring away AND the door fits. Thank you so much :-)
Super video, and very helpful. I've got exactly the same dishwasher, and as you say the instructions are hopeless. Followed this and the door went on perfectly.
Thank you Andy for a great how-to installation guide. This has helped me no end to fit our Bosch Series 6 which took less than an hour into Howdens units 👍 Id been mulling over the instruction sheet and following Bosch's own QR coded videos which lead to much head scratching... 25mins of your guide and job done 😜 Keep up the great vids and once again thank you 🤩
Thanks.. Just installing the exact same machine today. Finally figured out the instructions after staring at them for an hour (glad to see it wasn't just me struggling) however, your video cleared up a few things nicely. Top man, cheers!
Thanks so much for this. Hubbie and I have been putting this job off because we weren't confident we could do it. But thanks to you we've just done it and are really pleased 👍💪
Good video and well done! Many people and builders alike don’t pay attention to the height of the dishwasher they choose. In the US the cabinet height is pretty standardized and calls for a dishwasher of 86.5 cm. In Europe it varies. If your cabinet height is between 88 and 92 cm, you should choose an integrated dishwasher height of 86.5 cm, not 81cm. The dishwasher door top and front “facade” panel should be nearly flush (within a couple of cm). You should not need to prop up your dishwasher with boards on the floor. You also need to pay attention to the height of the dishwasher “facade panel.” Most 86.5 cm height dishwashers “facade panel” size range from 70.5 cm to 81.5 cm. More and more today, most people prefer a taller cabinet height ranging from 87 cm to 90 cm (depending upon worktop thickness). People also prefer greater dishwasher capacity. With this in mind, a kitchen designed as such should choose the 86 cm+ dishwasher and take the guesswork out of the equation.
What a charming instructional video. You seem to have found far fewer frustrations than some of the other jobs you've done or perhaps getting near the end is calming in itself? As always, thanks for sharing what you do.
Great! You are a lifesaver. Like you I just got stuck with the Bosch instructions and the height issue. Luckily we got the exact same model dishwasher so it all follows as yours. Some good tips along the way.
You did a great job, with high precision. I love the fully integrated appliances: they fit perfectly into the kitchen aesthetics, and they look like furniture themselves. For the dishwasher, which is an excellent brand, I opted to apply an additional layer of insulating material on the top (to make it even more silent).
To secure the machine in place the newer ones have 2 flimsy pieces of metal that you screw to the top and bend the ends down before pushing the macine into place. These require to have 2 screws inserted each side. This system replaces the ratcheting plastic plugs on each side that you show in the video.
Many, many thanks for putting this together Andy. I reckon I'm a very competent DIYer but the Bosch instructions just floored me. Your advice was spot on - still took me 2 and a half hours but I'd still be at it tomorrow if I'd tried the original instructions!
Fantastic video! Thanks: Liked and subscribed. We’d just bought a Bosch dishwasher and I was scratching my head over that awful instruction sheet. Your video saved the day by adding a load more detail and explanation. It gave me the confidence to keep at (and eventually finish) the job. Unless I missed it, you didn’t say about peeling the cover off the second (outer) side the Velcro pad. I did this and it helped to hold the door in place whilst I sorted out the screws. And being Velcro of course it allowed me to slightly adjust the position of the door before putting the screws in. Thanks again for a really helpful video.
Ive went out a bought the same bosch dishwasher as you becausevuou dispjayed acwonderful Easley video how to install it. Also i like your idea of sealing inside the unit around all corners for future proof. You have truelly thought out everything which i like about your videos! Keep up the work & ill keep watching.
Thanks. You are the ONLY person to point out that the metal plate is for wooden worktops and therefore not needed for Granite. Bosch could learn a lesson from you ;)
Great video, tho as aa appliance engineer it is far easier to fit door yo dishwasher before you put it in the space, making sure that the decor door is at least 20mm above appliance door when attaching, then jack up front and back legs to align with adjacent cupboard doors. This will alleviate the need to put battens on the floor as the appliance shouldn't slammed tight to underside worktop. Don't forget to put panhead screws in appliance front legs to lock them..
Great video, but as I had to fit a replacement (with completely different door fixings), I followed your advice and fitted the door first and then lined it up. Thank you.
I’m about to fit our dishwasher and am a bit confused about the advice to raise or not the dishwasher to the underside of the worktop. Ours also has a sliding door feature and I’ve seen advice to keep the dishwasher as low as possible so the sliding door has the best chance of missing the plinth. I would be grateful for any rational/guidance about the height of the dishwasher.
Thank you so much for this. We have just had our new kitchen delivered and we are trying to do it ourselves, due to being let down by fitters before before Christmas. We were at a loss so I thought I would try TH-cam. You have explained it so well, I have subscribed to your channel. Keep up the amazing job.
A thorough and very well presented video! What you call a plinth we call a 'toe kick' in the US. I agree the directions can be confusing. On my 800 Series instructions, in the section where you plug in the power cord, it refers to a nonexistent strap to the left of the socket lol. Guess it's supposed to act as a strain relief for the cord?
watching this reminded me i've probably lost the template and hardware for attaching the door to the dishwasher...it was bought months ago and other jobs have got in the way of replacing the kitchen!
Thanks for this, you make it look so easy. I still don’t know how to do mine ? 🙈 i will start to get some tools. I live in Central London handy man is like gold dust!
It's usually best to have the dishwasher set as low as possible. Else the past of the door that hangs below the dishwasherdoor can hit the dishwasher when you open it.
Did this on mine, packed it down with some 18mm offcuts, was paranoid about seeing the gap in the plinth from across the room. I've noticed the gap in a few other kitchens and didn't like the look. I still had to trim about 3mm of the plinth for the door to clear though :(
@@GosforthHandyman thank you. I have watched your video very easy to follow, .. but ... the kitchen door is the same size as the integrated Dishwasher door, but now we can't fully open the dishwasher door as it catches on the dishwasher metal plinth...aaagh. any tips and tricks. Thank you 🤗😄
Thanks - great advice. I'm trying to remove our old (Bosch integrated) dishwasher to fit the new one. I've removed the screws, which secure it to the side of the kitchen unit, but it still seems stuck in place!
An excellent video that helped me enormously. Many, many thanks. 👍👏 The diagrams supplied weren’t really helpful as I didn’t study Egyptian hieroglyphics at uni. 🤣
Good video mate, similar methods to myself and I’ve been fitting for 11 years. It’s a shame every dishwasher isn’t the same 😅 I’m glad a lot of brands have now started supplying 4 extra large feet with easier adjustment!!
Fitted numerous integrated units in my homes over the years so I thought this would be a no brainer. Watched your excellent video many times along with studying the instructions. First its a lot easier it seems doing it with the worktop off especially when making sure the dishwasher does not move when you open the door for fitting the side screws. Mine was a replacement, last dishwasher lasted just over a year so worktop already in place. Oh my god what a pain that was but got there in the end I thought. Copied your video to the letter but when it came to opening the dishwasher with the door fitted it catches on the bottom of the dishwasher. Nothing to say why or what you do about it. Seems strange that yours did not. Like you I had that little card which I thinks explains what you have to do if the door catches on the bottom of the dishwasher when opening. But there is no other mention of that card or how it works. I did think about raising the door but then I would have to drop the dishwasher and therefore leave a gap at the top between dishwasher and worktop. I really do not know what to do, proper explanation in the instructions would have helped. Regards Chris
You can also get test kits to check the water hardness. Years ago we bought a new house which was fitted out to move in. A few years after we'd moved in we had a problem with the dishwasher. When the plumber checked it out he discovered the original fitters had plumbed it in to the hot water whereas it should have been plumbed into the cold water. He swapped it over to the cold water and there was an immediate improvement in the efficiency.
Hi. An integrated dishwasher is secured to the adjacent cabinets, so doesn't need to be stable. Adjust the front feet to the correct height and level, then adjust the back foot so the appliance is level. Easy. It makes it easier to remove for repair too. You do need to use salt, regardless of your water hardness, unless it is really soft water. The salt contains sodium which repairs the water softening unit in your dishwasher. The tiny amount of salt in the tablets does not reach this area.
Always bear in mind what door is being fitted before deciding on the height of the dishwasher. J-pull/ handleless doors don't have a full 18mm rail along the top so if the dishwasher is up tight to the worktop, the screws used to fix the door to the dishwasher (the 2 screws at the top) will come through to the area where your hand goes when opening the door and will be visable. I've been fitting kitchens for 20 years and I've seen this happen.
Interesting thanks. I'm just about to fit drawline front J pull ie. two pieces to an AEG integrated DW and this hadn't crossed my mind until I read this. To be honest I'm not sure how I'm going to do it now!
I wish I'd watched this before buying. I got myself one of these and only now realise you need a cabinet both sides to secure. I have an end-panel on the right, so I guess that means I'm screwed.
Great video, thanks! Could I ask about the screws into the sides to fix the machine. Do they go into the wood of the neighbouring cabinets? Or do they just push on the plastic thingies to fix it in place? I have them on my new dishwasher but Im not able to screw through the plastic thingies and the screws just wont go further in. Hope someone can help. Thanks :)

If you do overtighten screws and strip the wood/mdf, poke some cotton wool in and add thin superglue. Screw straight into that when it's dry.

Hope someone can help. Thanks :)
Wow what a mission! I'm glad ours is not integrated. That seemed like a lot of work!
I KNOW..!!
All that bother when you can just slide a dishwasher into a gap and walk away.....
....which I've been doing for the last 27 years..!!
Not too bad, takes 20 mins if you're not filming it. 😂👍
