Thanks. At first I thought this would become the first readily available brass for everyone with 8.6, but sadly with the cost, and extra steps to turn the necks it doesn’t seem worth it.
      .
I’ve had great luck with LC 308 brass, but have to turn the necks. Also the pressure is different because of the reduced case capacity. I’ll have to do a short video to show the case capacity of the LC 308 converted cases vs the Hornady 6.5cm converted cases.
      .
      Thanks for watching!

    I definitely need to get a 8.6

I’ve been having fun with it. Hopefully soon factory brass/ammo will be more available!

Thank you for the PSA. I recommend using a mandrel die (Sinclair or 21st Century) to ensure a 0.334” neck tension. This works great for concentricity and limits shaving the side of the bullet when seating.

I’ll have to check those out. Hopefully soon there will be factory brass available for 8.6. When 300blk came out I had similar issues when forming my own cases. Thanks for watching, and the tip.

@@2A_CaliGuy you’re a better man than I. I only buy factory brass for weird stuff like 500 AutoMax, small primer 6.5 Creedmoor or 308 cases. BTW, I also recommend checking the volume of specific brands of brass if you plan to reload more than one brand. I’ve found that there can be greater than 2 grains difference in water weight between brands. That can be significant if you work up a load on a case with more volume and apply it to another case with less volume. Also, converted small primer Starline 6.5 Creedmoor brass required minimal neck turning and runs great with magnum small primers. It’s good to have when you can’t find large primers.

@@knighthawk6633 Nice. Good to know. Large rifle have been a pain to find lately. Last 2 boxes I got were $410 shipped, but were BR2 at least. $205/K
      .
It’s crazy because prior to 2020 I could get primers by the case $150 shipped, and sometimes sales would make them even better like the free hazmat etc.
      .
Great point on capacity. 308 brass converted to 8.6 has less capacity then 6.5CM Hornady converted brass in my experience.
      .
I’ll have to check out starline 6.5 SP brass. Last time I looked they were out of stock. Starline is my go to for my Beowulf, 450, and 458.

@@2A_CaliGuy I have Starline SP brass (6.5 CR and 308) on backorder for over a year. You may have to find some in the wild. I blow-up two suppressors playing with 8.6 BLK. That 1:3 twist is wicked. Defiantly learned my lesson - now limited to a strict diet of monolithic bullets (Hornady CX, Barnes or Maker). It’s like having to use premium fuel in your car.

After the issue, and reaching out to them. Finally getting refunded they immediately stopped selling 8.6blk brass. Their claim was they needed all the could make for their own ammo loading 😂. I experimented with their idea of reaming the inside of the necks, and then resizing. It works really well, but requires custom expansion mandrel. I still prefer outside turning, or just using Brand starting with H 6mm CM, or 6.5CM brass don’t have to worry about turning necks at all. If using once fired brass you can get a small base die set, and it works out great. I’ve found I can salvage my cases from my 6.5 after they split, and convert them. Still get another 5-10 loads on them in 8.6
