This video is a gem! Takes me back to the days just before high school. I was 14 years old with no clue what was gonna happen next in my life. Time sure flies!
@maxomilian so what you're saying basically is that you prefer guitarists who's music you can actually play? I can understand that. as far as the "juicy" stuff most of that is in the quieter dream theater songs.
@mikeknaul11 Ok, maybe i was a little harsh , i respect petrucci and love dream theater and their ability to write a song in 10 different time signatures and if it weren't for petrucci there would be no Marco Sfogli. Its just i was referring more towards instrumental musicians , yeah he wrote instrumental rock like black ice and glasgows kiss but it wasnt really somthing that had those juicy lines that you could incorporate into your own playing that players like vinnie moore and Timmons have.
@maxomilian saying that Petrucci isn't "soulful" simply shows that you have't really listened to much of his music, there is a strong emotional element, what you don't like is the fact that he is very much a purist technically. saying that he's overrated isn't a good assessment of his playing.
@weircali I think you definitly need to hear Guthrie Govan. Hes ten times better than Steve and his music isnt as annoying. Also theres Greg Howe and even Vinnie moore. They all rock.
@gunsnrosesful Petrucci's not that great , hes a good player but way overrated . I prefer the more soulful instrumental rock which isnt all about speed , listen to vinnie moore and andy timmons , there perfect examples.

How can anyone play this cool using mostly the pentatonic scale? He´s a genius
"we don't have to worry about that because...I have a new distortion pedal"
Amazing.
steve is sick... awesome vibrato, perfect phrasing, so intense.
After years and years of coming back to see Steve shred, he's so badass that at 7:24 you don't even notice his strap falling off.
"you wanna play, Jack Butler?" crossroads reference
Heh perfect, JEM+Jemini+Twin Steve Vais=Gemini
I feel like his influence is jazz. There alot of vibes from his playing but this has alot of jazz soloing in. It's very zen
He used to play with Zappa

Steve "Ego" Vai
he's just a showman and self-confident, and who wouldn't be in his situation honestly?
Corny! and great! Anyways very funny.
I hope all that was in his chain was this pedal, otherwise not a very fair demo....
